1. EU wide online bulletin board to connect start-ups.

Goal: To create an online place that aims to inform, connect, incubate, educate, and amplify the start-ups in order to improve the business climate for technology, investors and entrepreneurship

Players:•Entrepreneurs pitching their idea, generating buzz, and create awareness•Venture capitalists – presenting new seed programs•Innovators/accelerators – trying to attract new entrepreneurs to their programs•Tech conference organisers – creating visibility for the event

2: Web entrepreneurs campGoal:

This action aims at bringing the winning entrepreneurs from different camps around Europe and engage them to participate at a European Start-up contest. This event will create more visibility, will generate more buzz among start - ups that already validated their products and are raising funds.

Pre-eventPhase 1 (Q4 2011 - Q2 2012):• Identifying the most important European Web

Camps via Internet research• Some aspects still need to be clarified: how many

of them, which categories are we going to include• Identifying the winners of these European web

camps and inviting them• Establish the advisory board• Organize an internal workshop with D2 (Q1 2012)• Inviting the organizers of the selected web camps• Updating the website / press releases

During the event Phase 3 - (2 days in June 2012)• The event will take place in parallel during the DAA2012 where

web entrepreneurs will share their prototypes and look for seed capital during a project challenge

• Live streaming from the event location to DAA2012 in Brussels, during all the event. Ustream/Livestream

• Twitter streams during the event.• Recording of the presentations and uploading into Youtube.

Phase 2 (Q2 2012 - June 2012):Identifying the venture capitalists and inviting themDeciding on an event rapporteur and inviting him Organizing a preparatory workshop (May 2012)Identifying the technical challenges

3: Awareness creation within EU institutionsGoal:

Considering that early stage funding is a very important asset for start-ups and spin-offs needed to emerge, start-ups that will become future enterprises, the idea behind this action is to create awareness about the needs of the web

entrepreneurs within European Institutions who plan to launch start-ups in Europe.

4: European strategy for the web entrepreneurs using crowd sourcing toolsGoal:

This crowd-sourcing exercise is a combination of online technology and human collaboration know-how by engaging groups of people to submit, discuss, refine and rank ideas and submissions for a specific problem about

entrepreneurship.

5: Scoping paper to create awareness on the use of SNs in business Goal: The aim of the study is to focus on the socio-economic impact and challenges of social networking platforms currently as well as at their foreseen evolution, the identification of the stakeholders involved and on methods of engaging them, and also on defining the best practices, the bottlenecks in their implementation and the road-map for the work ahead.

6: Informing Member States about training and education needs of web entrepreneurs

Goal:

The idea of starting a company is considered something like a very difficult, risky, time and resources squattering, disappointing or discouraging, that’s why governments must create training courses/entrepreneurial camps/ mentor-ship programs/ involve crowd into innovation process.

7. Dialogue between Web developers, SNs, EC services and DPAs about data protection and access to big data for apps development

Goal:

The main idea of this action was to facilitate a meeting between the European Social Networks, Web developers, Data Protection Authorities and EC Services (DG JUST & DG INFSO), for a collaborative effort needed to:a. provide and protect and secure user data, to provide specific measures such as providing clearly visible and easy to use terms of service, privacy policies, and acceptable use policies;b. harmonize European regulations and enforce the EU laws for non-EU companies;c. facilitate access to the big data from social networks.

8. Cooperation between the entrepreneurs and standardization bodies

Goal:

This catalyst activity of the Web entrepreneurs initiative, is created to develop appropriate conditions for the fruitful cooperation between the entrepreneurs and standardization bodies like W3C and IETF.

Cooperating in standards bodies is critical for web interoperability and non-fragmentation.

9. Innovation hubs around top class universities

Innovation hubs are communities composed by technologists, investors, entrepreneurs, tech companies.

Since they are positioned around top universities, these hubs offers facilities for future entrepreneurs, web and mobile phone developers, designers and researchers, providing access to both investors and VCs and mentoring trough the universities and access to incubator programs.

10. Prize for best European web entrepreneurs to give public credit to successful web entrepreneurs

Goal:

These prizes are created in order to increase entrepreneurs ego and self-confidence to continue following the innovative way for doing business on web, feeling also the appreciation of the society and the European public administration.
