1.0 FEATURES

The Texas Oil Tools DSV4 & DSV6 Over & Under Stripper Packer is designed to pack-off oncoiled tubing as it is stripped in and out of the well, at working pressures up to 15,000 psi. Thisdesign provides two independent hydraulically actuated packers within the same body. Thisunique feature allows the operator to utilize one packer while the other is held in reserve; whenfirst packer is unable to effect a seal, the second packer is actuated. This ability effectivelydoubles the time between packer changes. Changing packers is always easier, but it isparticularly advantageous when changing packers with tubing in the well.

2.0 SERVICE

H2S SERVICE - All well fluid wetted alloy components to NACE MR-01-75, with Viton andPoly-Myte seals. Hydraulic seals are Nitrile. Operating temperature range -20°F. to +200°F. Note:seals and pack- off elements are available for higher temperatures.

NORTH SEA SERVICE - In addition to the NACE Specification s and API requirements additionalCharpy Impact and NDE are carried out. A Design Review and Certificate of Compliance by DNV,Lloyds, or Bureau Veritas are furnished with the Data Book.

ARCTIC -50°F H2S SERVICE - All well fluid wetted alloy components to NACE MR-01-75, with lowtemperature o-rings and special Poly-Myte seals. Charpy Impact Tests at -50°F and NDE on allparts required by API 6A. Operating temperature range -50°F. to +200°F.

3.0 PACKERS - Reference Drawing DSV6-T002

PREMATURE PACKER WEAR - The internal wear bushings above the packers are extra long,for better centering of the coiled tubing and longer wear life. The single most frequent cause ofpremature packer wear or failure, is worn bushings. At very low well and hydraulic pressures, wornbushings may be useable. At higher pressures, it is essential that the non-extrusion rings andpacker bushings fit closely around the tubing to prevent packer extrusion. Bushings must bereplaced frequently to minimize any extrusion gaps.

4.0 PACKER REPLACEMENT

Lower Packer - Close BOP pipe rams to control well pressure and vent residual well pressure thatmay remain between the stripper and the BOP. Back out the two lock screws and open wide bothdoors (11). Pressure up "PRIMARY RETRACT" port and fully retract piston (1). Pressure up"OPEN WINDOW" port and fully open window exposing packer elements and seal (31). Removenon-extrusion ring (39) and packer (40). Remove bushings (37) and (38). Inspect all bushings,packer elements and seals. Replace as necessary.

Install bushing (37) & seal (31). Install and support bushing (38); install packer (40) and non-extrusion ring (39).

CAUTION: When pressurizing, “CLOSE WINDOW” port. Ensure “OPEN WINDOW” port is notblocked. As an overpressure condition can occur, causing o-ring failure.

Pressure up "WINDOW CLOSE" port and fully close window. Close doors (13); turn lock screwsin until extended behind connector studs (8).

Upper Packer - Close BOP pipe rams to control well pressure and vent residual well pressure thatmay remain between the stripper packer and the BOP. Pressure up "SECONDARY RETRACT"port and fully retract piston (2). Rotate split cap (9) to most advantageous position and removesocket head cap screws (23). Install into threaded holes in split cap (9) as a tool to facilitateremoval. CAUTION: split cap weighs approx. 45 lbs. Grasp cap screw (23) and separate split cap(9) exposing bushing (35). Remove bushing (35). Pressure up "SECONDARY PACKOFF" topush packing elements up. Remove non-extrusion ring (39) and packer (32). Remove bushing(40). Inspect all bushings and packer elements; replace as necessary.

Install bushing (36). Pressure up "SECONDARY RETRACT" port and fully retract piston (2).Install packer (40) and non-extrusion ring (39). Install bushing (35); install split cap (9). Removesocket head cap screws (23) and bolt two halves of split cap (9) together.

5.0 DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY - Reference Drawing DSV6-T001 & DSV6-T002

Disassembly - Repeat disassembly portion of packer replacement procedure as describedpreviously. Unscrew lock hub (10) from the upper body (5). Remove seals (24 & 25) and o-ring(32). Using hydraulic hand pump, cautiously pressurize the "SECONDARY PACKOFF" port topush piston (2) up and remove. Remove T-seal (26) and seals (24 & 25).

Remove cap nuts (12), taking care that doors (11) do not fall. Separate upper body (5) from lowerbody (7). Remove, if necessary, two #2 SAE plugs (14).

Using hydraulic hand pump, pressure up "WINDOW CLOSE" port to push packer change cylinder(3) up, taking care not to damage the sealing surface. Unscrew cylinder stop (4) from cylinder (3).

Release pressure from "WINDOW CLOSE" port. Remove twelve socket head cap screws (17),window guide (6) and seal (30). Remove packer change cylinder (3), seals (24 & 25) and T-Seal(28). Remove four set screws (18); unscrew lower body adapter (13) from lower body (7); removelock collar (20), union nut (19), o-ring (21) and back-up ring (22). Remove seals (24 & 25) and o-ring (27). Taking care not to damage sealing surfaces, remove piston (1) and o-ring (26).Remove seal (25) from lower body (7).

Clean and inspect all parts for wear and damage. Lubricate and replace as necessary.

Assembly - Reverse above Disassembly Procedure in same sequence and complete secondportion of Packer Replacement Procedure.

7.0 SUGGESTED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

After every job, remove the packer and inspect all accessible seals. Remove all trace of well fluids.

Once a month, remove the packers and bushings. Thoroughly clean all of the items. Grease andassemble to proper technical manual.

Once a year, disassemble completely and replace all of the seals.

After two years strip down and perform NDE on parts exposed to well fluids, replace any wornparts.

Every four years in service strip down perform NDE on all critical items. Replace any worn parts.Two Year NDE requirements:All parts exposed to the well fluids will have to be inspected by NDE methods. The preferred NDEtest would be a wet magnetic particle testing. Not all parts can be tested in this method. If theparts can not be inspected with MPI then a dye penetrant test will have to be conducted.

Four Year NDE requirements:All parts exposed to the well fluids, loaded by well pressure or pressure containing will have to beinspected by NDE methods. The preferred NDE test would be a wet magnetic particle testing.Not all parts can be tested in this method. If the parts can not be inspected with MPI then a dyepenetrant test will have to be conducted.
