▪ Competition – an organisation in the same industry (or a similar industry)

which offers a similar product or service. The presence of one or more

competitors can reduce the prices of goods and services as the

organisations attempt to gain a larger market share. Competition also

requires organisations to become more efficient in order to reduce costs.

▪ Competitive advantage – superiority gained by an organisation through

providing the same value as its competitors at a lower price, or through

charging higher prices by providing greater value through differentiation and

through the use of tangible and intangible resources.
