From the Pastor

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Happy Feast of Divine Mercy! Let us cele-brate with joy this day when we remember the Infinite Mercy of God. We will have a procession after the 12:30 p.m. Spanish Mass involving our whole community. Af-ter the procession we will return to the church for Benediction and then go out to the Ball Park behind the school for some hamburgers and hot dogs as well as some other home-cooked food. We hope that the Lord will give us a nice day!! This week on Tuesday, April 14th the kids from our catechism classes will celebrate their first confession. We will have about 100 children to confess. Then, on Saturday, April 18th we’ll have a First Holy commun-ion retreat and confess another group pf children who are in the second grade. Their teachers have worked very hard with them to help them learn their prayers and other basic things that they have to know in order to receive their First Holy Communion. But, of course, their parents are their princi-pal teachers in the way of faith. Their words and example are indispensable for the good formation of their children. We have consis-tently urged the families to practice their faith at home and by coming to Mass every Sunday. Please take our counsel to heart so that our community will be truly a holy community.

We need your prayers to St. Joseph so that our construction can move ahead. We have a good start on the construction but lately are bogged down with issues of money. Please also pray that the Sisters of Guadala-jara do end up coming here to our parish in august as they indicated they would. We are still waiting their final word. The Knights of Columbus have been busy repairing the old convent and getting everything ready for the sisters. During this year of conse-crated life pray to the Mother of God that the sisters will indeed be able to come here and give witness to their desire to give all to Jesus. And please pray that some of our own young people will receive from Jesus the call to follow Him in poverty, chastity, and obedience. Thank you dear brothers and sisters and again enjoy this Feast of Divine Mercy. Sincerely, Father Timothy Davison

Please call Mickey, 918-991-8465, for more information and to register. Christ departed from our sight that we might return to our heart, and there find him. for he departed, and behold, he is here. St. Augustine TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION When we imagine the disciples cowering behind locked doors on the first Easter, it is a mat-ter of the greatest urgency that the doors get opened. They are not locked in as if in prison; rather, they have chosen to marinate in fear. Both the lock and key stand on their side of the door, in their control. Christ breaks through this significant barrier with a message of “Peace.” The risen Lord’s word propels them through the door and along the path leading to the consoling image of the community living in harmony in the first read-ing today. What do we pray for in our tradition? More than anything else, we pray for peace. Every Mass is an earnest prayer for peace with God, with self, with neighbor, and for peace in the world. Yet, curiously, the peace Christ offers is deeper than the mere absence of conflict. Our tradition treasures the memories of saints who were re-markably open to Christ’s gift of peace even in the maelstroms of history. St. Edith Stein and St. Maximilian Kolbe, martyrs of the Holocaust, are but two examples. Rev. James Field Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.

Sinceramente, Padre Timothy Davison
