Booth King provided structural engineering design and advice for the repair and conversion of this late 19th/early 20th century mill into retail and commercial space for developer Urban Splash. The building is a brick-clad steel frame with timber floors, and had lain empty for several years and had suffered from vandalism and theft. Key Facts The Architect’s design skilfully and simultaneously retains but rejuvenates the original building with some sensitive but striking interventions. The starting point for Booth King was a detailed condition survey of the building to identify: Immediate repair required for safety Repair required for future durability Strengthening work/modifications for the architect’s scheme
