Theschoolclinicfloorlooksandrunslikearealsalon,givingyouasalon-likeexperience.Theclinicandshampooareasincludesdispensariesforshampoos,conditioners,stylingproducts,haircolors,anddevelopers.Youwillalsohavetheopportunitytolearnvaluableretailskillsinourexpansivesalon-likeretaillobbyarea,featuringafulllineofTIGIhaircareproducts.Foryourcomfort,weprovideonespaciousstudentbreakroomequippedwithtwolargerefrigerators,microwaves,dishwares,andadishwasher.Thefacilityalsooffersmen’sandwomen’srestrooms,

TransferStudents
NOTICECONCERNINGTRANSFERABILITYOFCREDITSANDCREDENTIALSEARNEDATOURINSTITUTION
ThetransferabilityofcreditsyouearnatTONI&GUYHairdressingAcademy|TIGICreativeSchoolisatthecompletediscretionofaninstitutiontowhichyoumayseektotransfer.AcceptanceofthediplomayouearninCosmetologyisalsoatthecompletediscretionoftheinstitutiontowhichyoumayseektotransfer.Ifthediplomathatyouearnatthisinstitutionarenotacceptedattheinstitutiontowhichyouseektotransfer,youmayberequiredtorepeatsomeorallofyourcourseworkatthatinstitution.Forthisreasonyoushouldmakecertainthatyourattendanceatthisinstitutionwillmeetyoureducationalgoals.ThismayincludecontactinganinstitutiontowhichyoumayseektotransferafterattendingTONI&GUYHairdressingAcademy|TIGICreativeSchooltodetermineifyourdiplomawilltransfer.
Theschoolmayacceptupto320transferhoursfromothercosmetologyinstitutionsonacase-by-casebasiswiththeapprovaloftheAcademyDirector.AlltransferhoursmustbesubmittedatthetimeofenrollmentandaTransferHoursFormmustbecompletedandauthorizedbytheAcademyDirectoruponsigningthisenrollmentagreement.Thestudentisstillrequiredtopayfulltuitionregardlessofanytransferhoursaccepted.
Eachcourseofstudyofferedbytheschoolisconsideredtobeasinglecourse;therefore,studentswithanoutstandingbalanceontheirtuitionaccountwillnotbeabletoreceivetheirtranscriptsuntiltheaccountispaidinfull.
FinancialAidCurrently,theschooldoesnotparticipateinfederalorstatefinancialaidprograms.Weoffervariousalternativeloanstohelpyoumeeteducationalcosts.Ifyouneedmoreinformationregardingtheseprogramsorhavequestionsaboutfinancialaid,pleasecontacttheAdmissionsDirector.

CosmetologyCourse–1600ClockHours(53.33weeks/13.33months/30hoursperweek)TONI&GUYHairdressingAcademy|TIGICreativeSchooloffersacosmetologyprogramtoindividualsseekinglicensureashairdressers.Ourprogramproducesqualifiedhairdressersinvestedintheconceptofhairfashion.TheCosmetologycourseintroducesandguidesbeginningstudentsintheareasofmodernhaircutting,coloring,andhairdressing.OurprogramteachesthesetechniquestohelpyoumeetthelevelofproficiencyincosmetologyrequiredbytheState.Theprogramisdesignedtohelpprepareyoutoobtaintheknowledgeandskillsneededforanentrylevelpositioninthecosmetologyfield.
Ourprogramisdividedintofivelevels.Eachlevelconsistsofatleastonesection.Somelevelsmayhavetwoorthreesections;eachsectionlastsonemonth.Youwillbegintheprogramasafreshman.Afteramonthoffreshmantraining,youprogresstothesophomorelevel.Duringthefreshmanandsophomorelevels(FundamentalsOneandTwo),theoryandpracticalsessionsentailallaspectsofcosmetology,aswellasclassichaircuttingandcoloringrequiredbytheschool.Thefreshmanandsophomorelevelsfocusontheoryandpracticeonmannequinsandmodels.Aftersuccessfulcompletionofthiscomponent,youadvancetothejunior,senior,andgraduatingseniorlevelswhereyoureceiveanemphasisonpracticalapplicationswithclients.Graduatingseniorsalsocompletestateboardapplicationstoprepare

forthemockstateboardexam,whichincludeswrittenandpracticalportions.Youwillstartuponcompletionofapproximately1,200hours.
CourseFormatThecurriculumforstudentsenrolledinacosmetologycourseshallconsistof1,600clockhoursoftheory,technicalinstructionandpracticaloperationsasmandatedbytheState.Theoryandtechnicalinstructionmeansinstructiongivenbydemonstration,lecture,classroomparticipation,andexamination.Practicaloperationshallmeanactualperformancebythestudentofacompleteserviceonanotherpersonormannequin.

TardinessYouareexpectedtoclockineachdayby8:45a.m.Youaretardyat9:01a.m.Theorybeginseachmorning,TuesdaythroughThursdayat9:00a.m.Yourattendanceattheoryisastaterequirement.TheAcademyDirectormaytakecorrectiveactiontowardsanystudentwhoistardyorabsenttwo(2)ormoretimeswithinamonth.Attendingclassontimeasscheduledhelpsyoudemonstrateyourcommitmenttotheprogramandkeepsyouingoodstandingattheschool.
AttendanceTheschoolrecordsattendanceinclockhoursandgivesappropriateattendancecreditforallhoursattended.Theschooldoesnotaddordeductattendancehoursasapenalty.Attendanceiscalculatedusingamanualtimeclockanddoesnotroundhours.Inordertoensureproperclockhoursarecredited,fulltimestudentsarerequiredtoclockin/outfour(4)timesperday:whentheyarrivetoschool,whentheyleaveforlunch,whentheyreturnfromlunch,andwhentheyleaveattheendoftheday.Ifastudentfailstoclockinoroutfortheirscheduleonthestudenttimeclock,thestudentwillnotreceivehours.Ifthestudentwishestodisputeanyhourstheyfeelearned,thestudentmustprovidedocumentationtoverifyattendanceonthemissingtimeform.
Make-UpWorkAbsencesarenotexcusedforanyreason.Theschoolwillhoweverallowforstudentstotakemake-uptestsuptothreetimesonlyifthefollowingrequirementsaremet:
• Allmake-uptestsmustbescheduledwithaninstructor.Itistheresponsibilityofthestudenttoschedulethemake-uptest.
• 1stmake-uptestwillbeadministeredwiththehighestgradeawardedbeing90%.• 2ndmake-uptestwillbeadministeredwiththehighestgradeawardedbeing85%.
• 3rdmake-uptestwillbeadministeredwiththehighestgradeawardedbeing80%.
GradingPolicyTheschoolgivesgradesforwrittenwork,exams,andthemockstateboardexam,weightedevenly.Examinationsaregiveninallsubjects.Studentsmustreceiveacumulativegradeof80%orhigheronallwrittenworkandexamstomaintainSatisfactoryAcademicProgress(SAP).Weusethefollowinggradingscaletoevaluateperformance:
94%-100% ExcellentPerformance87%-93% VeryGoodPerformance80%-86% SatisfactoryPerformance79%andbelow UnsatisfactoryPerformance
SatisfactoryAcademicProgressPolicy(SAP)TheschoolgenerallyrequiresahigherstandardofattendanceandGPAthantheStateortheDepartmentofEducation.Asastudent,youmustmeetconsistentandreasonablestandardsofsatisfactoryacademicprogress,includingagradepointstandardandanattendancestandard.Thispolicyappliestoallstudentsenrolledinourdiplomaprogramandisevaluatedinactualhours.
Itisprintedinthecatalogtoensurethatallstudentsreceiveacopypriortoenrollment.

EvaluationPeriodsFormal Satisfactory Academic Progress evaluations in both attendance and academics will occur when cosmetologystudentsreach400,800,1200,and1600actualhours.Thefirstevaluationwilloccurnolaterthanthemidpointoftheacademicyear.
TransferStudents-Midpointofthecontractedhoursortheestablishedevaluationperiods,whichevercomesfirst.
Evaluations will determine if the student has met the minimum requirements for satisfactory academic progress.Satisfactory Academic progress evaluation records are reviewed and signed by the student and maintained in thestudentfile.
StandardforAttendanceStudents are required to attend a cumulative attendance of 80% or higher of their scheduled hours in order to beconsideredmaintainingSatisfactoryAcademicProgress.Evaluationsareconductedattheendofeachevaluationperiodto determine if the student hasmet theminimum requirements. If the student falls below the 80% at the time ofevaluationthestudentwillbeplacedonaSAPwarning.AttheendoftheSAPwarningifthestudenthasfailedtoreachthe 80% attendance rate the student may be terminated from the program. However, if the student has madesignificantadvancementtomeettheattendancestandardof80%andtheAcademyDirectorcanreasonablydeterminethatthe80%attendancestandardcanbeachieved,thestudentmaythenbeplacedonaprobationstatusafteraprevailupon appeal by the student has been approved allowing the student to continue in the program until the nextevaluationperiod.
MaximumTimeFrameStudentsmustcompletetheeducationalprogramwithinthemaximumtimeframe,whichdoesnotexceed125%ofthecourselength(66.66weeks)andisbasedonattendingatleast80%ofthescheduledhours.
Studentswhohavenotcompletedthecoursewithinthemaximumtimeframemaycontinueasastudentattheschoolonacashpaybasisandaresubjecttoavailability.
StandardforGradePointAverageStudents must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 80% or higher in order to be considered maintainingSatisfactory Academic Progress. Evaluations are conducted at the end of each evaluation period to determine if thestudenthasmettheminimumrequirements. Ifthestudentfallsbelowthe80%atthetimeofevaluationthestudentwillbeplacedonaSAPwarning.AttheendoftheSAPwarningifthestudenthasfailedtoreachan80%gradepointaveragethestudentmaybeterminatedfromtheprogram.However,ifthestudenthasmadesignificantadvancementtomeet thegradepointaveragestandardof80%and theAcademyDirectorcan reasonablydetermine that the80%gradepointaveragecanbeachieved,thestudentmaythenbeplacedonaprobationstatusafteraprevailuponappealbythestudenthasbeenapprovedallowingthestudenttocontinueintheprogramuntilthenextevaluationperiod.
DeterminationOfProgressStatusStudentsmeetingtheminimumrequirementsforacademicsandattendanceattheevaluationpointareconsideredtobemaking Satisfactory Academic Progress until the next scheduled evaluation. A studentwho does not achieve theminimumstandardsisnolongereligibleforTitleIV,HEAprogramfunds,ifapplicable,unlessthestudentisonwarningorhasprevaileduponappealofthedeterminationthathasresultedinthestatusofprobation.Theinstitutionwillnotifystudentsofanyevaluationthatimpactsthestudent’seligibilityforfinancialaid,ifapplicable.
WarningStudents who fail tomeetminimum requirements for attendance or academic progress are placed onwarning andconsideredtobemakingSatisfactoryAcademicProgresswhileduringthewarningperiod.Thestudentwillbeadvisedinwriting on the actions required to attain SatisfactoryAcademic Progress by the next evaluation. If at the endof thewarning period, the student has still notmet both the attendance and academic requirements, the studentmay beterminatedfromtheprogramorplacedonprobation.
ProbationStudentswhofailtomeetminimumrequirementsforattendanceoracademicprogressafterthewarningperiodmaybeplacedonprobationandconsideredtobemakingSatisfactoryAcademicProgresswhileduringtheprobationaryperiod,

If at the end of the probationary period, the student has still notmet both the attendance andacademic requirements required for Satisfactory Academic Progress, the studentwill be determined as NOTmakingSatisfactoryAcademicProgressandthestudentwillbeterminatedfromtheprogram.
Re-EstablishmentOfSatisfactoryAcademicProgressStudentsmayre-establishSatisfactoryAcademicProgressbymeetingminimumattendanceandacademicrequirementsbytheendofthewarningorprobationperiod.
Interruptions,CourseIncompletes,Withdrawals,orRepetitionsIfenrollmentistemporarilyinterruptedforaLeaveofAbsence,thestudentwillreturntoschoolinthesameprogressstatus as prior to the leave of absence. Hours elapsed during a leave of absencewill extend the student’s contractperiodandmaximumtimeframebythesamenumberofdaystakenintheleaveofabsenceandwillnotbeincludedinthestudent'scumulativeattendancepercentagecalculation.Studentswhowithdrawpriortocompletionofthecourseand wish to re-enroll will return in the same Satisfactory Academic Progress status as at the time of withdrawal.Repetitionsdonotapplytotheschool.
AppealProcedureIfastudentisdeterminedtonotbemakingSatisfactoryAcademicProgress,thestudentmayappealthedetermination.Reasons for which studentsmay appeal a negative progress determination include death of a relative, an injury orillnessof the student,oranyotherallowable specialormitigating circumstance. The studentmust submitawrittenappeal to the school on the designated form describing why they failed to meet Satisfactory Academic Progressstandards, along with supporting documentation of the reasons why the determination should be reversed. Thisinformationshouldincludewhathaschangedaboutthestudent’ssituationthatwillallowthemtoachieveSatisfactoryAcademicProgressbythenextevaluationperiod.Appealdocumentswillbereviewedandadecisionwillbemadeandreportedtothestudentwithin30calendardays.Theappealanddecisiondocumentswillberetainedinthestudentfile.Ifthestudentprevailsuponappeal,theSatisfactoryAcademicProgressdeterminationwillbereversed.
TransferHoursWith regard to Satisfactory Academic Progress, a student’s transfer hours will be counted as actual hours for thepurposeofdeterminingwhentheallowablemaximumtimeframehasbeenexhausted.
GraduationRequirementsTheschoolhassetminimumstandardsforcompletionoftheprogram.Inordertograduateyoumustmeetthefollowingrequirements:

checklistwiththeSchoolAdministration.8. Turninallkeysandschoolproperty.Youwillbechargeda$15.00feeforeachkeythatisnotreturnedtothe
school.Thischargemustbepaidpriortoreceivingyourdiploma.Uponyoursatisfactionoftheabovecriteria,wewillissueadiplomatoyouandyouwillberecognizedasagraduateoftheschool.WewillreportyourgraduationtotheCaliforniaStateBoardofBarberingandCosmetology.YoucanthencontactCaliforniaStateBoardofBarberingandCosmetologytorequestastateboardexamdate.

Onceyousuccessfullycompletethecourse,passthestateboardexam,andreceivealicensefromthestate,youarequalifiedtobecomeacosmetologist.
LeaveofAbsencePolicyALeaveofAbsence(LOA)isatemporaryinterruptioninastudent’sprogramofstudy.LOAreferstothespecifictimeperiodduringaprogramwhenastudentisnotinattendance.
InordertobeplacedonaLeaveofAbsence,thestudentmust:
1. Completeandsigntheschool’sLeaveofAbsenceRequestForminadvanceandsubmitanexactdateofreturntotheschool.
2. MuststatethereasonfortheLeaveofAbsence(LOA)request.3. MustbeapprovedbytheAcademyDirector.ApprovalofaLOAisnotguaranteed.4. MustbeinSatisfactoryProgressforbothcumulativeattendanceandgradepointaverageat80%orhigher5. Leavesmustbeaminimumoffive(5)calendardaysandamaximumofsixty(60)calendardaysandmustnot
exceedatotalof180daysina12-monthperiod.ThepolicyrequiresastudenttoapplyinadvanceforanLOAunlessunforeseencircumstancespreventthestudentfromdoingso.Forexample,ifastudentwereinjuredinacaraccidentandneededafewweekstorecoverbeforereturningtotheschool,thestudentwouldnothavebeenabletorequesttheLOAinadvance.TheschoolmaygrantaLOAtoastudentwhodidnotprovidetherequestpriortotheLOAduetounforeseencircumstances,iftheschooldocumentsthereasonforitsdecisionandcollectstherequestfromthestudentatalaterdate.Inthisexample,thebeginningdateoftheapprovedLOAwouldbedeterminedbytheschooltobethefirstdatethestudentwasunabletoattendtheschoolbecauseoftheaccident.Theschoolwillextendthestudent’scontractperiodandmaximumtimeframebythesamenumberofdaystakenintheLOA.Changestothecontractperiodontheenrollmentagreementmustbeinitialedbyallpartiesoranaddendummustbesignedanddatedbyallparties.Studentsmaynotarbitrarilydecideto“take”aleaveofabsence.TheschoolmaynotassessthestudentanyadditionalschoolchargesasaresultoftheLOA.IfthestudentfailstoreturnorcontacttheAcademyDirectoronthedocumentedreturndate,thestudentwillbeconsideredtohavewithdrawnfromschoolasofthelastdayofattendance.Inordertograntaleaveofabsencetheremustbetheexpectationthatthestudentwillbereturningtoschool.AstudentwhoisgrantedaLOAthatmeetsthesecriteriaisnotconsideredtohavewithdrawnandnorefundcalculationisrequiredatthattime.
StudentConductWewantallofourstudentstobesuccessfulandtohaveanoutstandingeducationalexperience.Tomeetthesegoals,wehaveestablishedasetofguidelinesforstudentconduct.Failuretoabidebytheseguidelinescouldcausedisruptiontothelearningenvironmentornegativelyimpacttheeducationalexperienceforyouandotherstudents.ProperstudentconductkeepsouruniqueSpotlightCulturestrongandhelpsyoubuildafoundationforsuccess.Theschoolcomplieswithalllocal,state,andfederallawsthatapply.Wemaytakecorrectiveactionagainststudentswhoviolatethepolicieslistedwithinthiscatalog,whointerferewithanotherstudent’swork,orwhoexhibitdisruptivebehavior.
Non-SmokingPolicyWeprovideasmoke-freeenvironmentforallstudents,staff,andclients.Studentsmaynotcongregateorloiterinfrontoftheschoolorinfrontofornearsurroundingbusinessesatanytime.

ProfessionalismWearefocusedongraduatingprofessionalhairdressers,thusweworkhardtomaintainthehigheststandardsofprofessionalismthroughoutthebuilding.Gossipingandengagingininappropriatetopicsofconversationhavenoplaceinourprofessionalenvironment.Youshouldworktoconsistentlymaintainaprofessionaldemeanorwithfaculty,staff,fellowstudents,andclients.Keepconversationswithclientspositiveandavoidsensitivetopicssuchasreligion,personalbusiness,orgossip.Useofvulgarorprofanelanguageisnotpermitted.Treatyourclients,instructors,fellowstudents,andadministrationwithrespectatalltimes.
