Welcome to BANNER!

What will Banner do?Provide more accessibility to College information for both faculty and students.Make looking up course, schedule, and enrollment information simple.Make it simple to register for classes online.Make it easier for advisors and students to make important decisions about schedules and programs.

Accessing Banner

Banner is accessed through myDCC.

After logging in to myDCC, Banner can be found under the My Courses tab.

Simply click the Self-Service Banner link to continue.

Many common options in Banner are found as shortcuts on the My Courses tab, such as Transcripts, Holds, Registration Status, and Add / Drop Courses.

General Information

Information boxes are found on many pages. These will give you instructions or specific details about the options on that particular page.

Personal Information MenuThis menu is where you can view many aspects of your personal information, including email addresses, phone number and address, and emergency contacts.

This menu also allows you to sign up for the NY-Alert program, which alerts you to campus emergencies through email, voice and text message.

Student Menu

This is the main informational menu for everything connected to registration, records, and accounts.

AdmissionsClick Admissions from the Student Menu.

You can review your admission application or apply for admission from this menu.

Follow the prompts to complete your application. Please be sure to have all your personal information handy!

Registration

Click Registrationfrom the Student menu.

This menu allows you to check your registration status, add and drop classes, view your schedule, and check your registration fees.

Add or Drop ClassesClick Registration from the Student Menu.

Click Add or Drop Classes.

You will see your current class schedule and the Add Classes Worksheet. If you know the CRNs (Course Reference Numbers) of the courses you wish to add, enter them in the worksheet and click Submit Changes.

If you would like to look up a class, click Class Search. You will be able to search by subject, instructor, day of the week, and class meeting time.

Add or Drop Classes

When you find a class you wish to register for, click the checkbox next to it’s name. You may check off multiple courses.

When you are finished, choose Register to add selected courses immediately to your schedule, or Add to Worksheet if you have more courses to search for.

IMPORTANT: If you are taking a class that has a lab component, remember that you must register for both the lecture AND lab. If you do not register for both, you will be given an error.

When you are finished adding classes, click Submit Changes.

To drop a class, use the drop-down menu in the “action” column of your schedule. If “drop” is listed, you may drop that course by selecting “drop” and clicking Submit Changes.

Be aware of prerequisites! If you have any difficulty during this process, please contact the Registrar’s Office.

Look Up ClassesClick Registration from the Student Menu.

Click Look Up Classes.

You can search by subject, instructor, day of the week, or time.

You may see how many more seats are open in a course by viewing the Cap (maximum students), Act (enrolled students), and Rem (seats remaining) columns of a course entry.

To see detailed information about a course, click the CRN.

You may view the course catalog entry by clicking the link in the detail view of a course.

To quickly register for a course, click the checkbox next to the courses you wish to register for and select Register.

Student SchedulesClick Registration from the Student Menu.

There are two different schedules you may view.

Week At a Glance will give a weekly grid of your classes. Clicking on a course name will take you to the detail schedule for that class.

Student Detail Schedule will give you a list of classes you are enrolled for and information such as instructor, meeting place, meeting time, and credit level. You may also email your instructors from this screen.

Other Registration Menu Options

Registration Fee Assessment –will display your registration fees for the selected term.

Withdrawal Information – will display any withdrawal processes in place for the current term.

Active Registration – will display courses currently in progress.

Registration History – will display courses you have registered for, dates registered, and any grades input by the instructor.

Student RecordsThe student records menu allows you to access your personal academic records through Banner.

You may access grades, transcripts, and many other options from this menu.

Degree EvaluationA degree evaluation lets you view your progress towards graduation. You can view classes you have taken and how they fit into your program, and see which classes you have left to take.

To perform a degree evaluation, choose Degree Evaluation from the Student Records menu.

Select the current term.

Your current curriculum information will be listed on the next screen, including your program. To continue, click What-If Analysis at the bottom of the screen. You will be asked to select a term once more.

Degree EvaluationChoose your current program from the list, or choose any program at the college you wish to evaluate.

Choose your current program from the First Major menu.

If you have a concentration, choose Add More and select your concentration. Otherwise, click Submit.

Choose your evaluation term. (Usually the current term.)

Choose general requirements to see a table of your progress through your chosen program. Each section will list courses that fulfill that requirement, how many credits are required, and if that requirement is met or not met.
