Falcons, Good morning/ afternoon, my name is Sabrina

Cosculluela and I am one candidate running for Student Government President for the 2016-2017 school year. I have chosen to run for president not only to make the most of my own senior year, but to also leave behind a framework, for the classes that follow of what a memorable year should be like. As President it is up to me to be the voice between students and faculty and make sure that all voices be heard. I will make sure that all needs and wants be addressed, to ensure that we all make the most of our time spent here. I will ensure that with voicing my opinion on what changes need to be made that I will keep in mind the ones that haven't had the chance to be voiced and to take into consideration their ideas. I intend to implement all the suggestions you, my fellow classmates have to bring to the table. I plan to fill the shoes left behind for me by past Presidents and strive for better. Unlike some of the other candidates I have not attended John A. Ferguson my entire time in high school, which I see as more of a

positive than a negative. I am coming into the position of President with a more diverse mind set, and I plan on using that mindset to cater to an equally diverse student body. School spirit to me is not just about loving the school you attend, but making the school you attend something worth loving. Kaitlyn Castano

Hi Ferguson! I’m Kaitlyn Castano and I'll be running to be your 2016-2017 SGA President. My reason behind wanting to run is not only wanting to make our (seniors 2017) year the greatest but to not let the rest of the school fall short. I plan on making this school somewhere you all look forward to coming to, in terms of always having something to look forward to. I’m dedicated, creative, organized, friendly, and stepping up to be your leader will never be an issue. I enjoy having a lot on my plate and helping out in whatever I’m needed for. I’m a huge believer in, if there’s a will there’s a way. I strive to

have a great final year in Ferguson and I know I can make that happen for all of us. I work well in a team, what you can do alone you can definitely do better with help. If I’m president I assure you our SGA board will work hard together to make something great of the year. For our 2017 seniors, SGA and Senior Board will work together to make your senior year memorable and have events you won’t want to miss! When it comes to the events SGA is in charge of, I have innovative ideas for Spirit Week, Homecoming and Peprallys too! If I have the virtue of being your SGA President, I can promise you all my complete involvement in making this year one to remember. Amanda Aguilar

Reminiscing my past three years at John A. Ferguson, I could sincerely say its been a ride I’ll never forget. To be part of SGA would mean I get to take part in forming events, spread school spirit, and show the importance of participating in this community as a whole. I feel like I would make an excellent school President because I have experience in taking leadership and organizing events. I’m am very persistent and open minded to any new ideas. I’ve learned to work with a team all my life from being in several sports. I’ve realized that being a leader is my strong suit, if there’s a situation, instead of stressing about it I figure out a way to overcome the obstacle and compromise with any disagreement. My purpose for becoming school president is to introduce our school to a more exciting year. My main slogan is "Looking back into the future" where we look forward to an exciting year to come and keep it with us when we bring to mind

about it in our later years. As your president, and with your help, we will strive to overcome obstacles that threaten to stand in our way of achieving academic excellence. We will achieve this while having fun as we will go to war against school poverty while having good clean fun, building friendships and imprinting memories that will last a lifetime, memories and friendships that will stand the test of time. Arman Torkaman

Ferguson High School have always given back to me. Whether it was allowing me to be in a tremendous learning environment or helping me get through each day with a smile, they have all done a huge part in setting me up to have a memorable high school career. That is why I feel the best way I could give back to the school is to become a voice of it. Running for vice president of the student government allows me to do just that. My responsibilities as vice president are to work with the president on handling the day to day requirements that are presented to us and the entire board. I am looking forward to sharing some of the ideas I have with the other board members and also hearing what they have to say as well. Being able to plan and organize spirited events for our student body has always been a goal of mine. Some of my ideas include an increase of fundraising events and supply drives which help aid a great cause and allow the involvement of the student body as well.

The student body should vote for me because I feel I have the necessary passion and mindset needed to be a crucial voice for them. I can interact with my fellow student body with ease and hear them out on any ideas or concerns

they have. I want school spirit to immensely become an important aspect of our school. Going to a school that allows you to express yourself and share your passion with other people is what school spirit is. I see potential in our huge school when it comes to spirit. I want to expand upon that potential and set an example for future years.

Kristin Marichal   Let me start off by introducing myself. Hello, I am Kristin Marichal. I have been a student at John. A. Ferguson ever since freshman year and I have absolutely no complaints. I have also been a rep of the SGA my whole high school life, and have been blessed to work hands on with this year’s SGA board to make things happen in the activities office. Ever since I was a freshman I have always wanted to be part of the SGA board and help organize events such as prom, senior breakfast, etc. Since next year is my last year attending John A. Ferguson I decided to make the most out of it. I decided to run for vice president, a position I know requires a lot of time and dedication. As Vice President I will work hand and hand with the president to make sure all our senior activities are worth the expenses. Its senior year, we have to live it up! This means making the school pep rallies better and better each time! I suggest the school gives out more sprit shirts, and have the student body interact in unique games so they can feel that school spirit! Including the student body more would only lead to

an overall more enjoyable high school experience for students of all various grade levels. I also have some wonderful theme ideas regarding prom, and even senior picnic! So it would be an honor of mine to become your 2016-2017 SGA Board V.P. You can count on me!  

Secretary:

Bianka Valentin As a candidate running for the SGA Secretary position 2016-2017, I offer excelling assets that makes me well qualified to be elected as part of the SGA board in my upcoming senior year. I will not only take responsibility of participating in every meeting in which notes will be taken in order to have knowledge of what the meetings consisted of. But I will also relay specific and significant information to my fellow board members such as meeting dates, plans for any activities, making a contact list for all the members to adhere to just in case no miscommunications occur, taking attendance at all the meetings and

holding certain records on file for the entire senior year. The position holds a great deal of responsibility, commitment, dedication, and organization in which I apply to in every aspect. Being secretary not only is accountable for all the tasks stated above but I will be a person that will voice concerns, personal opinions and innovative ideas where I will not only represent myself but the entire student body. SGA is all about making the high school experience memorable, unforgettable, and heartwarming that students will cherish for a lifetime and being part of the creation of those moments is a goal that I want to pursue. I am not going into it with empty promises but instead with my desire, passion, and motivation to propose the best for not only the board but for the student body.

Michelle Nassimos

It’s that time again. Where we as a class, get a say. Where we decide. Where we make a change. We made it. As your 2016-2017 student government association secretary, I vow to end all homework. Just kidding. I can’t do that, but what I can do is be your voice with the school administration, and work hard to meet the expectations, and make this the best school year John A. Ferguson has ever had. In this position, I assure you I will work hard on your behalf, to promote the interest of students, among the staff and parents. I am an honest person, full of integrity, who always takes care of tasks I commit myself to do. I have a creative side to me, and my detailed organization helps me excel in all my classes. I will keep written notes, as well as communicate your wishes to my fellow officers. A secretary must be an established, tidy, and driven person that will perform the tasks to the fullest, and to make sure the rest of the senior class remembers what they want to achieve. I fit all these characteristics and will always have pleasure providing for our class. I look forward to being

involved in all the pep rallies, as well as homecoming, and the rousing holiday activities. To me, school spirit is all about having a positive attitude, meaning taking pride in being part of the community, and supporting the school’s rectitude. I know that if I am elected secretary, I will be able to fulfill my duties without doubt. Therefore, I feel I am the right person for this position. Having the opportunity to hold the title is a reward on its own. I am willing to serve our class to the best of my ability, so we can reach our maximum potential. Andrea Marin

Hi my name is Andrea Marin and I’m running as the Student Government Class of 2016-2017 Secretary. I’m running for secretary due to my organizational skills, sociability, reliability, and determination in improving all necessities needed for the school. As secretary I plan to listen to the board, administration, and students and give my full attention to hear out any suggestions, judgments, or concerns. I promise to record and represent all the student’s opinions fairly and accurately. I will also make sure to keep students updated and informed on anything dealing with the school. I am qualified for this position because I’m competent and meticulous. I’m aware of my duties and I am capable of achieving them. I have volunteered at several organizations, participated in plenty of fundraisers, and assisted on many of our school’s events including Fright Night, Open House, and the Homecoming Game. I believe that I have the maturity and devotion to complete the commitment to be a part of Student Government. In my opinion, school spirit is all

about displaying pride and respect to the school by coming up with various and diverse ideas to make the school year one to remember. I will make sure to keep my schedule flexible, be punctual, and work together with the rest of the Student Government Representatives to make it a successful and enthusiastic year for everyone. Publicist: Aryanna Fortune

My name is Aryanna Fortune and I am running for SGA Publicist. I believe I would make a good candidate for the Publicist position because I am great with advertisement. I enjoyed being a part of SGA (club) and creating posters/flyers. I also provided many suggestions for the Spirit Week that were mostly used. My responsibilities as Publicist would entail, keeping the student body informed of all SGA events, promoting them through social media, assisting the IT coordinator, and creating posters/banners to advertise. I would be an excellent candidate because I am tech savvy, enjoy promoting events, and great with social media! I believe for the year 2016-2017, I can inform the student body more of events. The activities page will be filled with more information for events and the social media will answer questions through direct message, to clarify anything. I am very well organized and great with event planning, whether it’s decorating, recruiting personnel, or simply getting the word out. School spirit is being able to look forward to being a part of ALL school events with

pride. Being a part of spirit weeks, going to the homecoming game, beautifying the school, show your pride for Ferguson. The student body can have more spirit if they are allowed to be more involved in pep rallies by dressing up in colorful outfits and creating posters to cheer our dancers on. Valentina Gallo Since freshman year I’ve

always looked forward to the moment when I could finally run for the SGA board and that time is now. I feel like I possess the experience and valuable leadership skills needed to excel as the Student Government Association publicist. It will be my duty to not just keep my class but the entire student body of Ferguson updated with all the upcoming events and school news. I will encourage students to participate in events through the use of advertisement, not just during school but through social media as well. Social media is a vital component of

adolescent’s lives and I will utilize it in a positive manner that appeals to everyone. The word will definitely get out. I will also instill a lot of my time and dedication into making next year’s events at the optimal level for everyone. These top-notch events will definitely boost student’s school spirit which is essential for a successful school yyear. To me school spirit means working to improve the school environment and being prideful in what you do. The school community should be unified and strive to excel as a whole. This is achieved by participating in as many school/extracurricular activities as we can and proudly representing our institution while enjoying ourselves in everything we do. High school only happens once so we should live it to the fullest. I look forward to fulfilling my duties to the maximum potential if I have the privilege of getting elected. Shaila C.Perez

I am running for the position of SGA Publicist for the year 2016-2017. I’m running for Publicist in view of the fact that having a position on SGA would not only make my senior year one to remember, but as well one for the student body. I believe my responsibilities for this position is to advertise all events and give information on any important activities, dates, etc. not only on social media but around school. It is my job to ensure that everything is given as well done with full effort to make all advertisement and information put out on time for activities that is presented to the school/students interesting and exciting. I have many ideas that will make activities exciting and give it a fresh feel. You should vote for me as Publicist because i have a personality that will outshine with all my work and i am full of perseverance to make it an excellent year for the students. I would be a perfect choice as Publicist due to the fact that i am always available to lend a helping hand and i am full of determination as

well as always on social media. So, whenever i am needed you can count on me to be putting it on social media as well as advertising around school! Emely Ruiz

I've been attending John A Ferguson Senior High ever since 2013 of my freshman year. In the beginning, I was never really aware of all the programs my school truly had to offer. I was always in my bubble, going to class, getting good grades the normal role of a typical student. This year I want to change that. I want to make a difference in my school, I want to contribute to make it a memorable year not only for myself but for all my falcons. I have grown so much in this school and I have loved it every step of the way. As SGA publicist I believe my duties would be to advertise and promote all SGA events. I want to bring out the school spirit in all of classmates, just as SGA members prior to my class have done so. As SGA publicist I would really get the events out there. Make sure our students are involved and have a great time while doing so. I will do what I can to make them feel like they can really be heard and just overall make it a great year for everyone because I would sure enjoy this experience.

You should vote for me over the others because I feel with the approval and support I will actually do what I can to get our name out there and hopefully inform the students of what they can do to become more involved. I would definitely be perfect for this desired position because being on social media and watching from the sidelines I've definitely learned a few things on advertising and promoting and I hope I will be given the opportunity to showcase that. Lastly school spirit is everything. Loving your school, and having the honor of carrying Ferguson's name for the rest of my life is the greatest feeling. Attending sports related events, pep rallies, and dances, just simply being proud to be a Falcon is everything. It's high school and no matter what if you just give in and involve yourself more you'll find yourself having a blast while doing it. Not many people are a fan of school in general but if you really just motivate yourself to find something you absolutely adore about the school or the many activities Ferguson has to offer you will have the best high school years, and I can guarantee you that. Isabella Monterrosa

I, Isabella Monterrosa, am running for SGA Publicist. As SGA Publicist, I promise to take care of my responsibilities and complete every task given to me. I promise to constantly keep students updated on the activities that occur. I’m running for office in Student Government because I like participating in the activities and being a part of something that the whole school can appreciate. I love coming up with ideas on how to make school activities more enjoyable. I relish in the fact that I’m part of this huge community with my peers who I can make memories with that will be cherished for a lifetime and running for SGA Publicist gives me the opportunity to organize new things for the whole school to participate in.

I’m hardworking, organized and committed to everything I do. I work well with others and I’m highly motivated with things I’m passionate about. I will bring fresh ideas, creativity and my strong social skills to SGA. I’m a bright, mature young lady. I have a strong work ethic and I’m very dedicated to the

activities I’m involved with. I’m helpful and thrive in extra-curricular activities that I can use my confident, bubbly personality for the purpose of the school’s enjoyment. I will use all the energy I have to ensure that everyone enjoys their time in high school. I believe I will be a strong asset to SGA. Jonathan Fernandez  

Ever since a young age we are told that our education is very important and that we have to study hard if we are to succeed in the future. This is especially reinforced in our high school years, which I agree with. I believe we should also have enjoyable memories to reminisce of our high school experience in the future. That is why I am running so that I could give my fellow classmates these enjoyable memories. Because I see it as my responsibility to help students not feel stressed all the time and enjoy their youth. I want to make the freshman class proud to be part of John A. Ferguson Senior High as the past upperclassmen made me feel the same exact way. To me school spirit means kids of different ages, gender, and ethnicity setting aside those differences and coming together as one whole. Now lately our school’s spirit has been low but my goal next year is to help raise it. Some ideas I have are to provide more pep rallies and also better spirit week ideas to motivate more students to participate.

In my case of running as publicist I would do my best to attract attention by constructing the most creative posters or written publications throughout the school hallways. I will also assist the IT coordinator on staying on task with our activities page. So basically I just want to make the high school experience of my fellow students at Ferguson a memorable one.

Historian: Javier Arriaga

SGA, has always been the team throughout my years at John A. Ferguson that has made things happen, its been evident watching from the bleachers in a pep rally, or even just walking around the school that they have made a large impact in attempts to coordinate activities and help make our four years at this school as enjoyable as possible. I want to be a part of the team that helps run the show from behind the scenes, to give back even more to the school that has given much to me. As the aspiring historian, it would be my job to promote activities, and make sure the student body is aware of upcoming events. I also feel it would be my duty to raise the standards on overall school spirit which in recent years has seemed to be low, as I take extreme pride in being a Ferguson falcon and I want to give all 4,200 other students the same sentiment. I am the best candidate for this position because I am deeply entrenched in Ferguson’s sports, and various other extra curricular activities and representing this high school as well as allowing the students to be excited for their senior year or constantly looking forward to the next SGA planned event is something I would like to accomplish for myself and the betterment of our school as an ever growing community. My responsibilities are clear and I

am up for the task, I have plans to advertise through various methods such as FBN news, throughout the school walls, and on the website. I am excited, and looking forward to hopefully be a member of SGA and to make a difference at our school as soon as I can.

Karolina Aprano

Since my first year in high school I’ve always wanted to be on SGA my senior year. I feel like SGA

works the hardest to make the activities in our school so intriguing. I want to be able to make the students at JAF

want to attend school activities such as homecoming, and pep-rally. My responsibilities as Historian consist of taking pictures of school activities and the students.

Also, to write about these activities and to keep them on file for school records. I will also keep all the files of the

events in an organized matter so they will be easily found when needed. Next year, I believe that they should

have a day out of the week when students can leave comments about whether or not they enjoyed activities

and what SGA can do to improve them; these comments can be put in the record of the event. I should be voted to be Historian because: I’m interactive with students and

teachers, I enjoy going to school activities, I’m responsible, very organized and I enjoy seeing the hard work of others pay-off. As a cheerleader, I’ve been taught a lot about school spirit. It means being involved in school clubs and attending school activities like football games and

dance shows. Most of all school spirit means keeping your school clean, safe and helping fellow members of the student body.

Anne Perez Hey John A. Ferguson students, my name is Anne

Perez and I would like to serve this school as its new SGA Historian. As the SGA Historian, it would be my

responsibility to maintain pictorial and written records of all the SGA activities. I feel like this position would be

great for me since I am interested in both photography and writing, and I have been for as long as I can remember. One of the reasons why I want this position is because I

think it will be a very interesting experience for me. Another reason why I would like this position is because I

think it would be a great way to meet new people and make new friends. Most importantly, I am running for this

position is because I want to have the opportunity to be more involved in my school. I am so proud if this school

and all it has given me and I would like the amazing opportunity to give something back. You should vote for me because I am very dependable, so you can rely on me

to be there for every event. I will be able to respond and be present for every situation in which I am needed. I will be

present at all SGA events not only to fulfill my responsibilities as the SGA historian but to support my school as well. I believe that school spirit is more than

simply cheering at the pep rally's, it is the positive attitude that students and teachers have towards their school. I would love the chance to express my school spirit as your next SGA Historian.

Andrea Pineda

To start off let me introduce myself, my name is Andrea Pineda, current junior at John A. Ferguson and I have decided to run for historian. Being aware of the responsibilities that a historian has, I am positive that I can manage all tasks handed and put forth maximum effort. I’ve been at Ferguson since my freshman year and over the past 3 years I’ve seen what the SGA board is capable of doing for the student body and all of the hard work they do for us to ensure we have a memorable school year. It would be an honor to be able to participate and be a part of the SGA board to help out with activities for not only my graduating class but for the entire school. Entering my senior year, I want to make the 2016-2017 school year one to remember and help create new memories for everyone at the school. As historian I plan to keep everyone up to date on all school events and activities SGA has planned out, pay attention to what other students suggest for themes regarding spirit week, prom, homecoming and even pep rallies. Taking into consideration on

what my peers have to say for school activities I believe can help improve our school spirit. Having school spirit is important to me and showing our love and pride we have for our school shows how involved students are and help make our high school years memorable. Adis Echevarria Hello, my name is Adis Echevarria and I would like to serve the student body as its new historian. People may assume that the position of a historian is not essential, but it is. A historian’s job is to capture the memories of all of our school events. To be a good historian, one needs to have reliable qualities such as dependability, responsibility, trustworthiness and be socially involved. I have a good record of dependability, so you can trust that I will be at all the John A. Ferguson activities. Being responsible is one; I have always been responsible with every task given to me. Whatever job you give me I will do to the best of my abilities. I do have some background on photography so I can assure you every moment I capture will be of good quality.

Memories fade but if there is a good picture, you can always reminisce. I also have writing skills, which will help me write great stories about all the activities here at John A. Ferguson. Another job of any SGA officer is to maintain school spirit. School spirit is a very crucial factor to me, especially in high school. School spirit is what aids all of us here at Ferguson, home of the falcons, to rise together as one. I was a cheerleader from 4th grade to 9th grade trust me school spirit is my fascination. Choose me as your SGA Historian and I promise that I will completely cover all people and all subjects equally without favoritism. This is your story. Head Representatives: Michelle Cuervo

It is with great honor that I am applying for SGA office. As I enter my senior year, I can only reflect on the previous three wonderful, challenging, and enhancing years I have experienced at John. A. Ferguson. I have had the humble experience to be involved in the IB program as well as in Varsity Volleyball. Although IB and Volleyball are both time consuming curriculum, I could not be any prouder to experience all of the amazing accomplishments both have offered me. I take much pride to have been part of both such prestigious and rewarding experiences. I am excited and eager to become part of SGA because I would love to add great experiences and gain great knowledge of helping the teachers, students, and staff at Ferguson. I envision in making great strides in uniting the faculty and student body through events, such as, fundraisers, pep-rallies, and competitions between the two. Also, school spirit means to have the support of your fellow peers and knowing they are there through the most difficult and challenging times. Cheering each other on at competitions, helping one

another in the classroom, and working together as a united student body to help improve the school are just a few examples. Also, I feel that with the support of the teachers and administration we can make a school setting that is memorable for the students. We can create an interesting and entertaining setting that people will love attending. I feel that if we work together, we can achieve greatness.

Florence Garcia

To the Ferguson Student Body reading this, my name is Florence Garcia , I am 17, and currently running for Head Representative for the Student Government Association. This is a wonderful opportunity and with a heavy yet happy heart I am going to take it. For the past two years, I have been a part of a wonderful board and have managed to accomplish many things! School spirit is super important to me because I believe it is the foundation of where we stand. School Spirit is emotional support for one's educational institution. This can apply to any type of school, from elementary schools to

universities. Members of a school can manifest spirit in the exhibition of school colors in dress and decoration, in attendance at athletic events, or Pep Rallies etc. As your Head Representative for the Student Government Association , I promise to fulfill all my duties and responsibilities. Melissa Damas   I have been waiting for this

moment and all I can tell you is that after a year I’m putting myself in the position to run and be your 2016-2017 SGA head representative. I am ready to make the most memorable and exhilarated high school year you could ever imagine. As your head representative I understand I have to plan all meetings and make sure I have materials needed to discuss what’s going on in the meetings and I have to plan activities for the student body to attend. Some ideas I have in mind so far are such as make pep rally’s filled with activities that people would be able to volunteer and be a part of pep rally, we could have theme pep rallies were students are able to dress up according to the theme and design a contest therefore individuals get more competitive and make a better effort in participating, which would lead to what everyone wants which is more spirit, spirit to

me means to come to a school where you have pride and love to show off where you come from, you should be able to wear black, silver, and white with joy. Having more spirit allow students to have more motivation towards school. I also have in mind to create a field day after testing which will allow every student to bond with each other. I am open to hear any ideas and concerns anyone may have and I will work my hardest to make them come true. I deserve your vote since I am committed to put dedication in this job and make 2016-2017 a great year.

Salomon Navarra

I'm very excited and interested in running for SGA Head Representative to improve the school atmosphere. It would be an amazing opportunity to be chosen for the position of head rep. I want all the students at Ferguson to have memorable high school years, especially the seniors of next year. I want to be able to say that I made the school more enthusiastic and spirited throughout all next year. I'm extremely skilled with cooperating with all my peers. I have an abundant amount of high quality ideas for the upcoming year which I am eager to share. I am a good natured person and often worry about pleasing others; this is a quality which would be a significant asset to SGA. I strive for success and greatness, I've done extracurricular activities such as being a part of the school basketball team, which is extremely time consuming, but with that being said I still manage to get overall good grades, and I will also take on the job of being head representative. I understand the responsibilities and priorities of being head rep;

they help and take part of school activities such as pep rallies. I offer steadfastness, hard work, and the ability to work well with all types of individuals. I ensure that all events I take part in will achieve success. I hope you understand why I am choosing to run for this position.
