If isefe must find you housing, please stipulate the type of lodging you wish (studio, university

residence, family..)

Please confirm your arrival date with your landlord

Chambéry is a small mountain city

Usually, the temperature is between -5°C to +10°C in winter (November to December) and

between 25° to 35°C in the summer (May to September)

Plane bring pullovers and T-shirts.

For electric appliances ; the voltage in France is 220V and the plugs have two round pins

How to get to Isefe?

1. UNIVERSITE SAVOIE MONT-BLANC/ JACOB BELLECOMBETTE CAMPUS

Coming on foot (2 possibilities):

At the round-about in front of the hospital, take the stairs of the Montée Saint-Sébastien (perpendicular to the Avenue de Lyon): recommended if coming from the train station.

In front of the hospital, take the Jacob path, recommended if coming from Avenue Comte Vert (this itinerary is also advised if coming on a bike).

Place Caffe (near the Préfecture), take the Montée Valérieux, and then the Massenet Boulevard: recommended if coming from Carré Curial.

Line A: Coming from the train station, at the « Halles » shopping center or at the hospital.

Line 2: Coming from the « Place de Italie » or « Carré Curial ».

A ticket costs € 1.40 if you buy it on the bus.

To receive a student fare: you must go to the STAC offices to buy a bus card which costs € 7.50 for 10

tickets. You must show your student identification or proof of school enrolment. You can re-charge your

card either at the STAC offices or in a tobacco shop.

If you want you can buy a monthly or annual bus pass at the STAC office located at: 23 boulevard du

- At Isefe: there is a student lounge which is equipped with 2 microwaves that you can use.

Admission and Housing

Building 14, office 101.

Monique will gladly assist you in all matters concerning housing and the payment of enrollment fees,

Monday through Friday, from 9.00 to 12.30 and 13.30 to 17.00.

We further remind you that all enrolment fees must be paid in full, either by check, bank transfer or

cash, before the course starts.

Housing assistance is a free service. It puts you in contact with property owners, but it is not a real

estate agency. If you wish to change your accommodation during your stay, ISEFE cannot guarantee that

you will have other alternatives. Also, ISEFE cannot be held responsible for any problems you may

encounter with your landlord. This service is available to you throughout the year.

Library and Testing Services

Building 14, office 106.

For all language examinations, documentation and reference materials, you can contact Audrey.

Opening times: from 8.30 to 12.30 and 13.30 to 16.30 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Attention, due to the management of the exams, the library may be closed on Thursdays and Fridays.

Please check the schedule on the door.

A deposit of € 20 is requested at the beginning of the year to borrow books. This deposit is returned to

you when you no longer wish to borrow books or equipment and so long as everything is returned in

good condition.

Audrey can also provide you with information on exams such as the DELF, DALF, TCF … and you will find

on the notice board the dates and prices of these exams.

Student Affairs and Communications

Building 14, office 102.

For information about courses and student life, Laëtita can help you, as she is also a teacher at Isefe. The

schedules of this office often change from one trimester to the next. As such, we invite you to consult

the schedules posted on the door.

Extracurricular Activities

Building 14, office 103.

The person in charge of the activities offers cultural and sports activities after classes. The

opening of this office may vary according to the activities proposed; please consult the schedules posted

on the door.

Chambéry

The city

Chambéry, a small town located in the heart of the French Alps, between lakes and mountains offers a

variety of activities.

With its ideal geographic location, Chambéry is 1hr 30 from Italy, 1hr from Swiss, 4h from the Côte

d’Azur, 3h from Paris (in TGV) and 20 mn from a ski resort.

Public transportation

The train : the Chambéry train station is in downtown and allows you to go to many different

destinations.

Bus : many inner-city buses run in and around the town.

Bike : an extensive cycling network makes it easy to bike

Blablacar : an economic way to travel in France and in Europe, preferred method of transportation for

French students today.

Shopping : variety of choices : supermarkets and small shops located in

downtown. Be aware, they close at 8 pm Monday through Saturday, and all day

on Sundays and during public holidays.

On Saturdays, you can buy fruits and vegetables in the downtown farmers

market.
