Comprehensive Soldier Fitness / Global Assessment Tool (GAT) Survey
1
Student Handout #4 Global Assessment Tool Survey homework assignment instructions What is the Global Assessment Tool (called the “GAT”) survey? This survey allows you to assess yourself on the dimensions of emotional, spiritual, social, and family fitness. You will navigate through 6 screens, which contain approximately 100 questions. The survey will take about 10-20 minutes of your time and at the end you will be presented with a rapid estimate of your individual fitness in the above listed dimensions. The spiritual dimension questions on the GAT pertain to the domain of the Human Spirit: they are not "religious" in nature. The Comprehensive Soldier Fitness Program defines spiritual fitness as strengthening a set of beliefs, principles, or values that sustain a person beyond family, institutional, and societal sources of support. Also, spiritual fitness provides a person a sense of purpose, meaning, and the strength to persevere and prevail when faced with significant challenges and responsibilities. It promotes general well-being, enhances self-confidence, and increases personal effectiveness.

Battle Hand-Off Procedures
Physical hand-off procedure: 1. RSP site NCOIC responsibility. a. Conduct a BHO ceremony rehearsal. The BHO rehearsal will be used to ensure that all
participants are aware of personal responsibilities and actions during the BHO. Participants will include:
Master of Ceremony (MC): will facilitate the ceremony and ensure that all personnel and actions are announced in a professional and timely manner.
Commander of Troops (CT): will rehearse all Troop movement procedures and commands outlined in FM 3.21-5 to ensure proficiency.
Soldiers being promoted: are prepared by the RSP Cadre to perform all commands given by the CT or the presenting official.
Soldiers being transferred: are prepared by the RSP Cadre to perform the commands given by the CT.
All other RSP Soldiers: will rehearse the actions and commands to be given by the CT as a formation.
NOTE: Refer to Battle Hand-Off Ceremony Diagram (Instructor Handout #2) for a suggested BHO set up. NOTE: Refer to Battle Hand-Off Ceremony Script (Instructor Handout #3) for a suggested BHO execution. NOTE: Consider preparing and supplying a Ceremony Program. A possible technique is to produce a RSP Site
specific template and include a single page insert specific to each particular IDT/Ceremony.
b. Receive unit representatives. c. Provide guest speaker a list of speaking points. 2. RRNCO responsibility. a. Ensure coordination between Unit and RSP. b. Master of Ceremonies during BHO. 3. Site Readiness NCO responsibility. a. Confirm the return of Soldiers from IET. b. Contact the unit Readiness NCO responsible for providing unit sponsorship for the transitioning
Soldier. c. Verify attendance of Unit Representatives. d. Schedule guest speakers. In order to reinforce the Soldiers commitment to the ARNG, the MACOM
chain of command should be involved in the BHO process. The MACOM chain of command is an excellent source for guest speakers. Guest speakers should be personnel not commonly encountered

during RSP drill. Some good examples are Brigade or Battalion Commanders and Command Sergeants Major, Company Commanders, and First Sergeants.

f. Ensure all promotions orders are on hand. Promotion orders are processed for eligible Soldiers in
accordance with AR 600-8-19 Chapters 2 and 7. Promotion orders are signed by the approving authority and placed with the administrative records to be scanned. A copy of the promotion orders are provided to the Soldier at the BHO Ceremony.

promoted. Rank is on-hand to promote the Soldier during the BHO ceremony; request additional coins through ARNG GSS-S.
b. Schedule facilities. 5. Unit Representatives responsibility. a. Report NLT 30 minutes prior to scheduled BHO ceremony in the designated uniform. b. Provide incoming Soldiers with a welcome packet.
