Freshly Prepared Healthy Food

• In 2012, Board of Education issued an Invitation for Bid that called for fresh, healthy food with detailed and high food standards– All meals had to be freshly prepared and tasty

– Meet or exceed USDA requirements, including no nitrates or nitrites in our meats, no high fructose corn syrup

– Standards were informed by community leaders, including Department of Public Health, and parents

• Revolution Foods was the lowest bidder to meet the standards set forth in our Invitation for Bid

A Combined Approach• SFUSD has partnered with Revolution Foods since January 2013; we collaborate to offer a healthy menu that appeals to our diverse student population

•Having Revolution Foods take care of producing the majority of our fresh meals allows Student Nutrition Services to focus on increasing the daily impact of our meal program

• The Board of Education has invested in SFUSD’s meal program for over a decade; shifting to a fresh meal program has helped increase the number of children eating school meals
