Home study activitySing What’s Wrong? with your child. Take turns singing each of the parts in the song, and personalize with the possessions of family members.

Play a game. Have your child hide one of his or her possessions in his or her bedroom. Then your child should pretend he or she can’t find it. Ask your child What’s wrong? and encourage him or her to answer, I can’t find my ( bag). You suggest where it might be by saying Is it (under your bed)? When your child finds the item, have him or her say Oh, here it is. It’s (in my desk). Have fun taking turns with this game.

Home study activitySay the Look at Me! chant with your child.

Go outside or to a park with your child. Take a yo-yo, a jump rope, and some chalk. Draw a hopscotch board on the sidewalk and play hopscotch together. As you play, take turns saying Look at me! I can play hopscotch. Then take turns playing with the yo-yo. As you do, say Look at me! I can (do a somersault). If you and your child are able, do some somersaults and cartwheels, saying what you both can do. Talk about other things that you can do.

Encourage your child to write and draw stories of his or her own, using the phonics words.
