Student Recognition Opportunities Through regular blood donation, you are demonstrating strong character, selflessness and volunteerism. Your commitment to saving lives will set you apart from the rest. DONOR OF DISTINCTION PROGRAM High school students who donate five units of blood before graduation earn the honor of becoming a Donor of Distinction with LifeServe Blood Center. As a Donor of Distinction, you’ll receive the following: • Special honors cord to wear at graduation • Certificate of Achievement • Letter of Accomplishment from LifeServe Blood Center President • Recognition in press release sent to local newspaper To earn this title, you may have to donate at community blood drives in addition to school sponsored blood drives. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES High School Scholarship Competition: • $500 scholarships ($10,000 total) will be awarded to the top five schools that host successful blood drives in the four enrollment categories below: • High schools must sponsor at least two blood drives per school year to compete against other schools in their category (based on enrollment size) and be eligible for the High School Scholarship. Student Scholarship Opportunity: • LifeServe will award a $500 scholarship to students who organize a successful blood drive during specified dates in summer months (Memorial Day – Labor Day) or winter months (December – January). • To be eligible to win, students must recruit donors and act as the chairperson for the blood drive and meet a minimum of 30 procedures at their blood drive.
