Using current and up-to-date, relevant promotional strategies

Funny, interesting, innovative ideas will make sure students engage with what you are doing and feedback to you

If you’ve made a change for your course Mates - make sure you tell them about it!

So, after working really hard to get people to know what a Student Rep is, getting feedback from your peers about issues (no feat in itself ), you’ve managed to get the issue resolved! Great!

Are you going to tell anyone about it?

ShoutAboutIt!

All too often, people work really hard to get the job done, only to forget to tell people they’ve worked hard to do it. Have you seen the U said WE did signs around campus? They’re simple but effective ways the University publish what they’ve done with the feedback you gave, but why don’t you do some feedback opportunities yourself? You can also send out the Student Rep E-Newsletter to keep students up-to-date on what is being done with their feeback.

This will only further promote what Student Rep are, confirm that you CAN get things done and will probably result in others approaching you with issues because they see that it works. Win win! We have a host of notice boards dotted around the campuses, if you want us to put things up for you, we can do that!

Compile successes as you go on so at the end of the year you can tell us what issues have been solved and how things have made a difference on your course.

>> Share your ideas! Talk to other Student Reps, particularly those that have done it before to see what worked and what didn’t

>> Get to know the staff in your department, ask them for some time in lectures or notice board space to promote yourself!

>> Feedback to students what you have done and what more you can do for them. Why not download a copy of our Student Rep E-Newsletter to email to your fellow students?

>> Advertise your email/ blog/Facebook page

>> Put up a poster promoting yourself as your course Student Rep. You can add your photo and contact details which we will print out for you if you come and visit us on the 5th floor.

>> Social Media - each department has a department Facebook page. Use this to send messages to students and create polls to gauge opinions on topics.
