    Sheffield Hallam University has a history of employing institutional research andevaluation to gather quality evidence to inform ways to enhance student engagementand the overall student experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic SheffieldHallam University student to work on a research project that will gather evidence toenhance the student experience. We are seeking confident students who will be ableto either conduct survey research and/or focus groups with students as participants.

    You will have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate effectivelywith staff and students at all levels. You will have passed a research-related moduleon your current or most recent degree programme (that may have entailedconducting a literature review, service evaluation, auditing work). You will be able to

    demonstrate proven IT skills, and have experience of social networking. Working onaverage of 7 hours 24 minutes per week, you will possess a flexible attitude to thedemand of the role, and be able to manage your time effectively. The post isrestricted to funding of up to 100 hours.

    Role details:You will work as part of a research team that comprises various departmentsthroughout the University. You will be largely responsible for carrying out research,which will be quantitative and/or qualitative-based. There will be opportunities to beactively involved in identifying supporting literature, the analysis of data, report writingand presenting work at events.

    Student and Learning Services (SLS)

    The Directorate of Student and Learning Services was formed in March 2009 and isresponsible for the delivery of learning, IT and advisory services and support to ourstudents, from pre-entry advice through to career guidance, and for many of theUniversity's underpinning processes and systems. The Learning Centres at bothCity and Collegiate Campuses are also operated by SLS.

    The nature of the work of this post is to contribute to student experience research forSheffield Hallam University by undertaking a range of work such as:

    design questionnaires

    analyse survey data

    recruit student participants for individual interviews

    informing the project team of level of participant engagement, and anyemerging issues and challenges

    helping to identify supporting literature, contributing to the data analysis andreport writing

    The PersonThe successful candidate will be currently studying for a degree programme atSheffield Hallam University. We are looking for someone who has passed aresearch-related module on their current or most recent course of study, with

    excellent interpersonal skills who is able to communicate effectively with staff andstudents at all levels. Experience of undertaking research, conducting a literaturereview, collating and analysing data, and report writing would be advantageous. Thesuccessful candidate will be flexible in their approach to work, and will be interestedand enthusiastic in being involved in a variety of tasks.

    Additional InformationSalary: 8.00/hourThe post is part-time that may take-up an average of 7 hours 24 minutes per week.The weekly schedule will be determined through agreement between the post holderand the line manager and will be flexible enough to fit around the schedule of a full-

    time student.
