Degree Map Degree Map is a tool that allows you to plan out your academic career at Berkeley College. You

can plan which terms you would like to take which courses. You can then use that as a more precise guide to build your schedule in College Scheduler each term.

It also provides in-depth degree progress as to what requirements/courses are remaining for d

egree completion.

Selecting Degree Map will take you to the Degree Map site. It will present you with the Berkeley College login page. Please use your username and password to connect to the site. After successfully logging in you will be in your Degree Map.

Degree Progress and Planning

Click refresh to ensure you are viewing your latest MAP.

Date stamp of the most recent MAP refresh.

Over all progress toward completing all of your requirements.

Displays more detailed information regarding specific requirements necessary for graduation.

Displays your progress toward your degree requirements (first bar) and displays your progress toward your major requirements (second bar).

Degree Planning

Filter allows you to only display requirements defined here.

Contains your degree requirements and major course requirements.

Displays terms you can plan courses for. This will display all courses taken, attempted, in-progress or planned.

To plan a course expand either your degree or major area. This will display the different

requirements and from there you can plan your courses.

To plan a course, select your term and click “Plan.” You have just planned on when you want to take a course. Please note this is NOT registering for a course. You can plan as many courses as you would like. If you want to plan for a different requirement, click done and expand that requirement and start planning again.

Once the class is planned it will be added under the term you selected. You should pay attention to any alerts. These are informative messages regarding course requirements. This will help you in your planning as you many need to take a pre-requisite course prior to the term you are planning to take your recently planned course. See example on left.

Explore Degrees

Explore degrees allows you to view other degree/major options at Berkeley College as well as compare those degrees/majors against the progress of your current degree. Of course always speak with your Academic Advisor regarding any changes.

You can search by typing the major you are interested in viewing or you can use the compare tab and pick from a list.

Once you select a major to view, it will take a few seconds to load the data and will say “Calculating”. Once finished, it will return what the major will look like for you based on the courses you have already taken at Berkeley College.

Explore Careers

Explore Careers allows you to see job demand and salaries at the local and national levels for your current major.

You can search for other careers either by typing in or searching the career category.

You can also set a career goal for yourself. This will then be stored on the profile page.

Profile

Profile page displays general personal information about you, academic information and your course history information. It also displays what career goal, if any, you set for yourself.

VERIFY ELIGIBILITY TO REGISTER

Before you register for classes you need to check 2 items: 1. Do you have holds that prevent self-registration? 2. When can you start registering?

1a. Check if you have “Holds.” If you do, click details. (See more information below.)

1b. Click the link in the “Hold Item” to see how the hold impacts registration.

1c. Follow the instructions to remedy your hold. Click “Return” to go back to the hold details to check any other holds you may have on your account.

2. Check the “Enrollment Date” to see when you can start registering for classes.

If you have no holds that prevent registration, you can register online as soon as your enrollment appointment begins!

REGISTER FOR CLASSES

You can access College Scheduler from two different locations. Either option will transfer you to College Scheduler.

You can access College Scheduler from the Engage portal by clicking “Course Info” – “Create My Schedule”.

You can also access College Scheduler from you student center by clicking “My Scheduler”.

Select the campus or campuses where you

would like attend classes. Only select the locations

you know you can attend. Click “Save.”

If more than one term of enrollment is open, select the term you would like

to view classes for.

Scheduler Page Overview

1. Add Courses

After clicking “Add Course”, you can search for courses by Subject or Instructor. Once you find your course, select “+ Add Course.”

When you are finished adding all your required courses, select “Done.”

2. Add Breaks

Once you have finished adding your courses and clicked “Done”, you will be back at the main screen. If you need to add a break so classes are NOT scheduled during that specified time, do that prior to generating schedules.

If you have created a break and want to include it when generating your schedule, check the break you want. It will NOT return classes that run during that time frame.

3. Generate and View Schedules

Once you have completed adding your breaks you are ready to generate schedules. The number of schedules generated depends on the number of campuses selected at the start and offerings. If you have selected all locations, the number of choices returned can be overwhelming. It is best to only select the locations you know can attend.

The campus, course and break choices selected generated 12 different available schedules. You can compare up to 4 different schedules at a time or you can view each one individually and select the one that best fits your needs.

Viewing your schedule comparison provides a snapshot of when your classes are scheduled. You can hover over the blocks to see what course and the specific time. If you like one of the choices you can click “Open #” or you can go back and compare another 4.

Select a schedule that works best for you. Once you have made a selection, you can finish creating your schedule.

4. Validate Your Class Selections

Be sure to check the warnings on the page. These are informative messages that can help you determine the best schedule.

Academic Advisor.

With your schedule of choice displayed, select “Validate”. This will ensure you meet the requirements for your selected courses and do not have a hold on your record. If you do not meet a requirement for a course, you will receive a message. It is best to go back and select a course you meet the requirements for. If you have a hold, you need to speak with your

5. Send to Shopping Cart

You have your schedule selection finalized. You have no validation items to address. You have read the warnings.

TIME TO SEND TO SHOPPING CART!

IMPORTANT NOTE: There are no class preferences to set nor do you need a permissions number. If you prefer to not register yourself, you can add your classes in your cart by clicking “Next” until finished, stop there and make an appointment with your Academic Advisor to continue the process.

Click “Next” for each class you are registering for to complete the process. When you are at your last class click “Finish”.

5a. Remove Classes from Cart If Needed (Optional Step)

If necessary, remove courses from your shopping cart prior to registering

If you have added a course to your cart but have not registered for it and you would like to remove it, click “Edit Cart”.

To remove a class from your shopping cart, check “Remove from Cart” and click SAVE

6. Registering for Classes

TIME TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES!

1. Click “Register”

2. Confirm your registration by clicking “Continue”. Your enrollment will be processed.

3. View your registration results.

4. View your schedule. You have successfully registered for your classes!

VALIDATION/REGISTRATION ERRORS

When you “Validate” your classes and/or after you click “Register”, you may encounter registration errors. These errors need to be resolved before being able to register for the course. Some of the most common are here:

You will not be able to register a course without having taken the pre-requisite. If you get this message, select a different course.

If you have a hold on your record, review Page 14; Step 1 - Registration Eligibility, of this document and then follow the instructions. You will not be able to self-register with a hold.

You cannot register over your maximum credit hours for the term.

CAMPUS FINANCES

Click on the “Campus Finances” link to access account information, make a payment, apply for financial aid, view your financial aid and access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) website.

1. On the My Account page, students and authorized users see links and tabs for features listed at the top of the screen.

1a. The "Make a Payment" button will take you to the Payments tab.

On this page, you can set one or more filters to view payment reports. All filters are set on this screen; to reset the filters or set additional ones you must return to this screen.

ADD PAYMENT METHOD OPTIONS

Electronic Check (checking/savings): The account can be either a checking or a savings account; enter all necessary information below. You have the option to save this payment method for future use.

Credit/Debit Card Setup: If you select the “Credit Card” payment method, you will need to enter information about the account. You have the option to save this payment method for future use.

ACH Setup: To make an ACH payment you must agree to the ACH agreement below.

With ACH setup you will be able to: • Make a payment from a bank account. • Save a bank account as a payment method. • Use a bank account with a payment plan. • Use a bank account to pay deposits.

ADDING AUTHORIZED USERS

Here you can add a new authorized user. If an authorized user has already been created, the page allows you to update settings or delete the user.

Enter the user’s e-mail address.

Allow the user to see the billing statement. If you select “No,” the authorized user will see the current balance but not the billing statement.

Allow the user to see the payment history. If you select “No,” then the authorized user will see only his or her own payments in the “Payment History” tab.

Click “Continue” to add Authorized User.

The Authorized User Agreement: The agreement shows you exactly what information the authorized user will and will not be able to see.

When you check the “I Agree” and then click “Continue”, the login information is emailed to the new authorized user.

You can change either of the options by clicking the Update link on the Authorized Users tab.

APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID

FAFSA on the Web

Click on the “FAFSA on the Web” link from the Student Center Home Page.

The link takes you to the Government website where you can apply for financial aid online.

NSLDS - The National Student Loan Data System is the U.S. Department of Education’s central database for student aid. It receives data from schools, agencies that guarantee loans, the Direct Loan program, the Pell Grant program and other U.S. Department of Education programs. NSLDS provides a centralized, integrated view of Title IV loans and Pell grants that are tracked through their entire cycle from aid approval through closure.

Access the “National Student Loan Data System” (NSLDS), from the Student Center Home Page by clicking the link.

Loan Entrance Counseling

Click on the “Loan Entrance Counseling” link from the Student Center Home Page.

This brings you to the loan entrance counseling site which is mandatory for any student that borrows a student loan. Complete the “Entrance Counseling” below.

Select an “Aid Year” to view.

Review your Awards Summary. Click on the “Loan Details” link to view details about your loan.

Click “View Financial Aid”.

UPDATING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION Campus Personal Information will allow you to update your address, phone number, e-mail address, internet addresses, emergency information and demographic information. In addition, you can see if there is a hold on your account or outstanding documents.

Addresses Under the same link click “Addresses”.

To change your address, click on the “Edit” button.

To add a new address, click on the “Add a New Address” button.

Under “Campus Personal Information,” click the link that says “Personal Data Summary”.

This is the summary of your personal data.
