Congratulations to all of our
May graduates!
Dr. Brian K. Miller presented two research papers at the annual conference of the Society for Industrial and Organizational
Psychology (Division 14 of the American Psychological Association) in Houston this month. The first paper was co-authored with Dr.
Rob Konopaske, an Associate Professor in the Management Department, and was titled, 'Dispositional Correlates of Entitlement in Young Workers'. The second paper was
co-authored with Dr. Enrica Ruggs of Rice University's Department of Psychology and was titled, 'Measurement Invariance Tests of a
Measure of Impression Management'. Dr. Ruggs completed a pre-doctoral fellowship here at Texas State under the supervision of Dr. Miller in the summer of 2009 and will start as an Assistant
Professor of Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the fall.

Student Spotlight
Six SHRM students attended the SHRM Southwest Central Regional Student Conference in Austin, TX.
Three of these students, pictured at the right, competed in the case
competition and placed 2nd among the 15 undergraduate
teams that competed.
Congratulations to Ashlee Simp-son, Abraham Vasquez, and
Juelaine Desjardin.
Epsilon Nu Tau (ENT)
At our national Epsilon Nu Tau (ENT) conference at the University of California Fullerton, on Saturday, April 20th, the ENT chapter was awarded first place in the case competition. Pictured are all members who attended the conference
as everyone participated in preparing the case.
ENT is an organization of entrepreneurial-minded students from across campus. The team had 4 weeks to prepare a business plan for a 800 degree pizza concept for Minneapolis, MN. They had to evaluate the current market,
determine how to differentiate from other pizzerias, determine the target market for pizza, evaluate and select a location, determine a marketing plan, design a
menu, and prepare a complete financial analysis of their business.
The judge was very impressed with the completeness of the business plan considering the short time frame.
Congratulations to the following Management students who joined Beta Gamma Sigma:
Kyle Day Nathaniel Douglas
Richard Filut Elizabeth Gonzales
Kaleb Johnson Miriam Padron-Vazquez
Alysia Sanchez
Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest scholastic recognition a student can receive in an undergraduate or master's program in business or management. To be eligible for membership, a
student must rank in the top 10 percent of his or her junior or senior class, or top 20 percent of graduate students.
