PV Electrician students help build green home Students from the Solar Photovoltaic System (PV) Electrician program teamed with local builder GradCo Structures & Homes last spring to provide solar panel consultation to a local resident hoping to own an extremely energy efficient or “green” home. Professor Antonius Bom’s class worked with GradCo to analyze and design a solar panel system to be installed in the home of Gary Hilberg. After analyzing and designing systems based on their surveys, the students presented their findings to Hillberg in May as their final project. Hilberg plans to have GradCo install the plan he chooses into his home. LSC-Tomball has offered the PV Electrician program since January. The courses complement on-the-job training and mirror real-world situations by providing classroom studies with hands-on applications in high-tech laboratories.
