The Asia Pacific Student Services Association’s (APPSA) 12th International Conference will be held here at QUT on from 6-9 July, 2010. Parallel to the professional conference is a student conference, which is traditionally attended by student leaders from leading universities in the Asia Pacific University. As co-hosts of the conference, QUT will take an active part in the development and delivery of this event. We are looking for students to help with the organisation of this event. Student Steering/Organising Committee·        Assist with the development of the student conference content,·        Promotion of the student conference to other students/student groups,·        Assist with the organisation of the conference, and·        Possibly acting as ‘hosts’ to student delegates and coordinating conference volunteers.

Exclusive privileges of being on the Student Steering/Organising committee are:·        FREE entry to the conference (which normally costs $475)·        The opportunity to meet students from international, other Australian and local universities·        Valuable learning experience in the development and delivery of an international conference·        An opportunity to further enhance your leadership skills and organisational skills

The World Cafe is a conversational process using an innovative yet simple methodology for hosting conversations about questions that matter. These conversations link and build on each other as people move between groups, cross pollinate ideas, and discover new insights into the questions or issues that are most important in their life, work, or community. As a process, The World Cafe can evoke and make viable the collective intelligence of any group, thus increasing people’s capacity for effective action in pursuit of common aims.

The integrated design principles have been distilled over the years as a guide to intentionally harnessing the power of conversation for business and social value. When used in combination, they provide useful guidance for anyone seeking creative ways to foster authentic dialogues in which the goal is thinking together and creating actionable knowledge.
