IntroductionWhat is online payment?

Online payment is the service by which people can electronically exchange money

and buy and sell products. It is available via the internet. Because online payment

relates to money, it must be highly secured and must be executed via a high-secured

digital gateway. It has several forms; it can be done by bank accounts based

electronic cards like credit card or via clearing house like PayPal. Apple has achieved

a great leap in the field of secure online payment technology. The online payment

services introduced from Apple is called Apple Pay.

ProcessWhat is Apple Pay service at a glance?

Apple pay is the online payment technology introduced by Apple for electronic

payment, money transaction and shopping. It achieves the maximum level of security

and privacy for online financial payment and money transaction. Moreover, Apple

Pay offers online payment for physical or non-physical goods or services. Apple Pay

is available on iPhone 6, 6s, 6 Plus, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, SE, X, XS, XS Max,

XR, and Apple Watch. Apple Pay is available only on Apple Devices.

To set up Apple Pay and add card on Mac, Mac model with Touch ID is a must. Follow the same steps in iPhone except step (A), (Opening Wallet is from System Preferences then Wallet & Apple Pay).

How to pay with apps via Apple PayFor those who are online shopping lovers,

here are the steps of how to pay within apps

via Apple Pay:

1- If the app allows Apple Pay as an online

payment method, tap the Buy with Pay button.

2- Fill in the billing, chipping and

contact information.

3- Verify the payment process

How to remove or suspend Apple Pay card

1- From settings – passbook & Apple Pay.

2- Press your card.

3- Scroll down and select remove.

Basic FeaturesApple Pay Basic Features

High financial security and privacy:

It is the most important feature for Apple software in general and for Apple

Pay as well. Apple is the most secure gateway for the online financial payment

and for transferring money and online payment as well.

Easy to use:

Apple offers its users easy detailed instructions that show how to set up and use

Apple Pay service via up-to-date instructions that are sent to the user.

Tracking finances:

Apple Pay follows an effective method to help its users to track their financial

processes and reviews them as well.

Available in many countries:

People of 24 countries around the world can use Apple Pay services.

Available on the WEB:

Many websites, like PayPal, accept Apple Pay as a payment service, and that

gives users an alternative way to use Apple Pay via Apple Devices.

Apple Pay components

Security chip: it is based on a chip that is programmed with Java. It is consistent with all the requirements of financial system that rules the online payments.

NFC controller: it refers to Near Field Communication. It is a protocol that carries out the communication between the App processor and the security chip. It also determines the communication between the security chip and the sale point terminal.

Wallet: it is for managing and adding the cards of store, credit and debit to execute online payments of Apple Pay.

Secure socket: it is on Apple iPhone, iPad and watch. It is for managing the processes of authentication and authorization. It allows the transaction payments to be executed.

Servers: they are responsible for managing the entire Apple Pay card, setting up and supplying of credit, transaction, debit and Students’ card IDs in the wallet. They are in charge of

recognizing all the data of users including the numbers of account devices that are stored in the security chip. The servers are connected to both devices and the network payments. Moreover, the servers are encrypting and decrypting all the digital certificates of the payment via apps.

Warnings

Apple Pay Warnings

If Find my iPhone, iPad, Apple watch feature is turned off before they are

lost, they cannot be found. It is recommended to turn this feature immediately

as soon as users run the Apple devices for the first time. To enable Find My

Device, please do the following:

o From settings – iCloud – Find My Device.

All the stored data on the Apple devices must be erased completely before

selling or giving them away. All the data must be erased including Apple Pay

Card Data.

Saving more than one Fingerprint may lead to fraudulent, or you will be

exposed to incredibility by official institutes like banks.

If the battery runs out before completing the payment process, the whole

payment process will be rolled back and starts over again.

Disabling Wrist Recognition on Apple Watch deactivates Apple Pay.

For parents, they should make restrictions for the apps or the purchased

products. For making restrictions do the following steps:

o From settings – General – Restrictions

o Press Enable Restrictions

o When asked to define the Restrictions, set the needed restrictions to make

the changes.

Do not share you Apple Pay information.

Troubleshooting Apple Pay troubleshooting

If Apple Pay stops working: (There are 4 scenarios)

o First

1- Open passbook

2- Make a card selection

3- Clos the device near to the NFC reader device.

4- When asked for fingerprint, do it.

o Second

1- Reboot your device.

o Third

1- Ask the store for another NFC reader if available.

o Fourth

1- Remove the card by following the steps mentioned above in page 7

2- Add the card again by following the steps mentioned above in page 5

If the Apple Pay Card’s activation process lasts for more than 15 hours:

1- Use the number that is on the back of the card to make phone call to the bank or

whoever is responsible for issuing your card.

2- Inform the bank or the card issuer about the problem of your card activation

delay.

When issuing new cards

1- From settings – passbook & Apple Pay – select Card to Delete then press

Remove Card.

2- From settings - passbook & Apple Pay – Add Credit or Debit Card.

3- Follow the steps of Adding Card as mentioned above on page 5.

4- After finishing adding new credit card, the new card will be ready for

activation.

If the card is lost or stolen

1- From settings – passbook & Apple Pay – select Card to Delete then press

Remove Card.

2- Call the bank or the card issuer to report the loss of the card to suspend it.

If the device is lost or stolen

Use Find My Device feature to delete or suspend the Apple Pay Card by doing

the following:

1- Open Find My Device from another trusted eligible device.

2- Add your Apple Pay Card Data.

3- Follow the steps mentioned above in page 7

4- Alternatively, navigate to www.icloud.com/find from your pc, sign in, and

select your lost or stolen device.
