Students in the ROP Fire Control Technician course will acquire core knowledge and skills in preparation for a satisfying career in the fire service. They will develop the operational concepts and manipulative skills needed when responding to events such as structure fires, natural disasters, hazardous materials incidents, search and rescue, terrorism, and by providing medical aid to the sick and injured. During this training, there will be an emphasis on personal safety, the safety of fellow workers and of the general public. Successful students will emerge from this course with Firefighter One and First Responder Training. Students in this program will discover an increase in their self - esteem, ability to work both independently and with a team and the skills required to be an effective leader and crew member. Students will develop the foundation necessary for future educational and career goals for advanced fire service training, certifications and employment opportunities. Students who pass this course with a final grade of a B or higher, and who complete the registration process, will receive three (3) college units from Folsom Lake College and American River College. Students in the ROP Fire Control Technician course will acquire core knowledge and skills in preparation for a satisfying career in the fire service.
