Size correction on STUDER cylindrical grinding machines with StuderWIN STUDER cylindrical grinding machines are extremely stable and can hold tolerances for longer periods of time thanks to their robust construction and their Granitan® machine bed. And yet even STUDER machines are subject to minor fluctuations in size, which occur due to thermal changes and wear and tear in grinding wheels and dressing tools. Thanks to StuderWIN machine operators can now make small corrections themselves in a simple and transparent manner. Entering the correction Entering the size corrections is a very simple matter. If the diameter needs to be bigger, a positive value is entered. If the diameter needs to be smaller, a negative value is entered. An absolute or sum of values are also possible. The graphic (see on left) shows to which tool the correction applies. This reduces incorrect entries. Free correction buttons To make entering numbers easier, a correc- tion value can be defined for two softkey buttons (marked red in the graphic), for example 0.002 and -0.002mm). • Size correction on STUDER cylindrical grinding machines with StuderWINSTUDER cylindrical grinding machines are extremely stable and can hold tolerances for longer periods of time thanks to their robust construction and their Granitan machine bed. And yet even STUDER machines are subject to minor fluctuations in size, which occur due to thermal changes and wear and tear in grinding wheels and dressing tools.

Thanks to StuderWIN machine operators can now make small corrections themselves in a simple and transparent manner.

Entering the correctionEntering the size corrections is a very simple matter. If the diameter needs to be bigger, a positive value is entered. If the diameter needs to be smaller, a negative value is entered. An absolute or sum of values are also possible.

The graphic (see on left) shows to which tool the correction applies. This reduces incorrect entries.

Free correction buttonsTo make entering numbers easier, a correc-tion value can be defined for two softkey buttons (marked red in the graphic), for example 0.002 and -0.002mm).

When the respective button is pressed the value in the current input field is corrected. This makes input easier and helps avoid input errors

Partial correctionsUneven grinding forces or bending at the workpiece often require that not only cor-rection of the grinding wheel, but also of each individual operation.

This is where StuderWIN offers the fol-lowing advantage: The nominal size does not have to be changed in the program. All of the grinding operations are listed in an overview. A correction for each individual operation can be now defined in this view.

If the machine has a post-process measur-ing device, all corrections from these measurements are also shown in this overview.

Correction procedureThe correction progress can be shown at the press of a button. The corrections are displayed in a clearly structured graphic (see on left).

This graphic enables machine operators to better understand and analyze their ma-chine and their grinding process. Excessive wear to the grinding wheel or a less-than optimal dressing process is detected here.
