PERSONAL PROJECT

Headpiece 2010

In 2010 first semester, Virtual Environments where taken as one of my major subject in my bachelor studies. This subject encourages performing and developing ideas via 3D computation. Google SketchUp was used in the development of the project design.

Headpiece project was the major challenge of this subject. Students was given a task by developing headpiece design via engender, fabrication and model making. These processes were achieved by using Google SketchUp software with unfolding the model which enables us to fabricate the model on paper.

Computation concept of architecture was introduced via the study of headpiece project. Modern software enable people carry out complicated ideas easily through the help of 3D software. Enhancement of digital modeling brings various advantages to designers, artists and architects.

My headpiece design comes from the inspiration of camel. The back structure of a camel which is smooth has a hill shape (up and down). The curve of that kind of structure may cause difficult in hand making while SketchUp helps me to develop the headpiece with an ideal shape.

Furthermore, various modeling software helps in the method, skills and quality people design. SketchUp is only small part of digital modeling. Professional software such as AutoCAD, Revit and Rhino are popular and widely used in the related industry.

To understand the development of digital modeling, more examples will be studied in the following discussion.

RELATED PROJECT

LIVING CLOTHES AND FASHION RELATEDD COLLECTIONS

These design works use parametric form to create clothes, jewellery and shoes. These fashion products were designed by 3D software with the use of paper material. Complexity and convenience was indicated on these design products. In the development of digital modeling, complex shape and design can be achieved in various design industry with the assist of parametric modeling.

"This design-build project began as a parametric exploration during the design process. manufacturing of the unique sectionsbegan with CNC routing and systematic assemblage. once connected, the element was hung from the overhead RCC slabfrom threaded steel rods which have been affixed into a double thickness vertical plywood panel. this connection allows for

accurate leveling through the entire length of the interior."

It is no doubt that architecture as part of the art in our society. The use of parametric modeling in the design of Indigo Deli in India indicates the development of architecture. Parametric modeling diverse the way of design, henze, art of human is diverse in various way, inclusing people think, design and way of actions.

In this example, the designer successfully combine functionalism and beauty together. The aesthetic interior support with the function of storage and shellter which also reflects the efficiency of parametric modelling.

"The design is read as a cluster of trees against the muted and monotonous background of the slum settlement. Located on an inclined site, the multi-functional structure rests on a series of steel stilts that sprout up at multiple angled trajectories. At once delicate and industrial, the design exhibits a visually distinct identity within the neighbourhood and can be observed from a distance due to its vantage point. The expanded steel mesh that wrap around the dodecahedrons offer a light and porous mode of shading."

In the above design, it does not just contribute as architecture but urban planning as well. The concept of tree successfully merge with the current site. The design contribute to the natural environment of the surrounding by it appearance and function which means it campain to the cultural, radical and moral of the local sites. The parametric modeling shows the structure of the design and generate a unique view to the surrounding (light and porous mode of shading). This shows the rising awareness of structure and fuction in designer's approach due to the extraordinarily result of these elements.
