General information

Studio ghimbli is a Japanese film studio specializing in animation.founded in June 1985. The company's logo features the character Totoro (a large forest spirit) from Hayao Miyazaki’s film my neighbor tororo.The company itself is located in the koganei region of Tokyo.

Interesting fact

The name Ghibli is based on the Arabic name for the sirocco, or Mediterranean wind, which the Italians used for their Saharan scouting planes in the Second World War, the idea being the studio would "blow a new wind through the Japanese anime industry.

The studio was founded after the success of the 1984 film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind , and was headed by the directors Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata and the producer Toshio Suzuki.

Why Im such a Ghimbli fan boy

I’m a huge anime fan due to their drawing style but for me Ghimbli sticks out, I think its because of their attention to detail on films such as the 20010 film Arrietty which is based on the borrowers so the story shifts from big to small meaning the smaller world had to be highly detailed .

Though Ghimbli has produced many masterpieces in my opinion the best of these are the films spirited away( July 27,2001) and howls moving castle (November 20.2004).

Im not sure why these films stand out so much to me but every time I watch them I see a new aspect of design I didn’t see the previous time ,despite this it will always for my come back to the drawing style .
