Springtime in BudapestSpring is amazing in Budapest there is plenty to look around in the city. The trees come back to life, the fl owers are in bloom all over Budapest, and as soon as the fi rst warm, sunny days arrive, people fl ock to the streets and the entire city comes alive.

Although the cold winter weather gives way to spring-like temperatures and abundant sunshine by March, spring truly begins in April, when the many parks, promenades and outdoor cafés fi ll with people looking to relieve their spring fever.

What to do in Budapest?

Budapest is romantic all throughout the year, but around springtime, it becomes a memorable getaway destination for couples. Visiting the city during spring or summertime you’ll fi nd Budapest welcoming for a weekend of romance. Outdoor programs, like a picnic or any sport activity in the Margarit Island, or a relaxing bath in several spas of Budapest, an exciting walk in the Promenade along the riverside, make the city even more colorful.

A stroll in one of the city’s many parks is the best way to enjoy Budapest’s springtime charm. One of the most alive parks for spring spotting is Elizabeth Square in the heart of the city. You will also come across the famous Lovelock fence. This sweet tradition is what started couples a few years ago to lock their love to this central place of Budapest.

On the cultural front there are plenty of spring events to enjoy in the city, ranging from fi lm festivals, and outdoor exhibitions to wine and pálinka festivals. The Budapest Spring Festival includes opera, ballet, jazz and classical music, street performances, pantomime and open-air concerts.

Like most cosmopolitan cities, Budapest offers a wide variety also of cuisines and restaurant sightings. While traditional Hungarian food may be what you’re hankering for, you can also fi nd other ethnic cuisines just as easily when dining out in Budapest.

How many days is it worth spending in Budapest?

Plan at least 3 days for Budapest, but possibly more, say 5-7 days to make the most out of your stay in Budapest Hungary. It’s a fantastic city with a lot to offer in a safe and friendly city environment with a fabulous architectural heritage, nice green spots (even caves), warm baths with healing qualities and parties, loads of pubs, bars and restaurants, and great markets and fl ea markets to hunt for little treasures. But Budapest still has a lot to improve, and we hope that you won’t feel let down.

Follow the Locals

The best areas to look for tastiest fare and the most reasonable prices are off the main drag—away from the major tourist centers or commercial areas. Tourist areas often hire wait staff with at least a rudimentary knowledge of English, so you may fi nd communication more diffi cult in eateries frequented by locals when dining out in Budapest. However, your efforts will be well worth it, as the locals always know best. So try always to ask adivices from lo-cal budapest people.
