Mise-

En-

Scene

Page 2: style analysis

In this shot through Mise-En-Scene we see the girls in their uniform dressed very proper and with ties and their top button done. We see then all walking in line with a book balanced on their head, teaching them to walk proper and to have a better posture. There dark grey jumpers and skirts give the uniform a dark and dull look making them look slightly miserable. We see the teacher in the background looking at them in a stern and strict way giving you the idea that they are heavily watched. Also the location that this is set in is clearly a school hallway the environment they are in matches everything else and is an explanation of why they are doing what they are doing.

In this shot we see the girl getting told of, the teachers costume is very dark an dull just like the girls uniforms. The body language of everyone in this shot helps show the characters. The two girls with there hands out and crossed look very worried and that they care that they are being told off.But the girl with her hands in her pockets look very rebellious and has a blank look in her face showing that she doesn’t care. The location shows that they are in a office and the props used are that there are trophy's displayed to us, showing that the school is very well and the fact that they are getting told off is something big.

In this shot we see the girls having dance lesson, the costumes of the girls are very traditional. With long skirts an shirts tucked in. This helps shows the girls as being very proper. All the girls look happy whilst doing this so it shows that they all enjoy doing something like this, their clothing colours are bright and it helps add to the mood. Even the location it is set in very bright and matches the girls. Although the teacher is dressed in all dark colours contrasting with the girls and could be showing that she in the evil one giving a stereotypical representation of teachers.

In this shot we see an establishing shot of where the girls lives. This shot allows us to see the whole building showing that she lives somewhere very grand and posh. Also the style of building and objects surrounding it help tell us about the character. The cars that w can see help show us as an audience the era it is set in because the cars are very old fashion but again the quality of them again show that this is a very well off, upper class area.

In this shot we see a long shot of a girl walking through the snow showing her surroundings. What we see here is the environment, we clearly see that it is snowing an how she is walking through an area that looks more middle class that the previous one. W se that the houses are smaller and that they are all attached together. The long shot here looks very pretty and appealing and helps to show what is going on around the character. The long shot also helps show the season and that it is clearly winter when this has taken place.

In this shot we see a close up of what the girls are doing, we see them doing stereotypical things that females are known to do. The close up emphasises the fact that they are cooking and also helps to show what they are using to cook with.We see them whisking and having milk and flour out an we know that they are in school so we learn that they are being taught how to make a cake.

editing

Page 10: style analysis

In this shot we see that they have edited in animation which helps link in to the action this character is doing. We see different types of circles being drawn around her and other little animations. With little balls and a diamond ring. This could be linked with what girls are thinking about. It also adds a little bit of excitement to it because the animations moves in time with the characters movement making it flow.

In this shot they use a fade which they use as a transition between two shots. The two shots contrast between a worried looking lonely girl and a couple of girls playing having fun. Although they are two very different shots they link very well together because it could show how she could be thinking about how she wants to join them or have friends and how the other girls show them having fun without her.

Page 12: style analysis

In this shot we have another fade and this fade shows the girl in class and how she is day dreaming in class thinking about her outside playing sports. This shows what most typical teenagers do and a dissolve shows this very well because it makes it look like she was dreaming about it from the effect that was created by it.The softness from the dissolve links the two scenes together and helps the scene make sense because otherwise it would look a bit weird with just a straight simple cut from a scene of them playing hockey outside to a girl in class day dreaming.
