Krapkowice as a town traces its history back over 700 years, to 1275 when the settlement was probably given the civic rights based on Magdeburg law.
The oldest preserved document which confirms that Krapkowice was a town at the end of the 13th century comes from 1294 and was issued by Bolesław the First, the Prince of Opole.
The history of the town dates back to the 13th century, and the history of Krapkowice-the settlement even to earlier centuries. Krapkowice derives its name from the family name of a person-Chrapek who was the first to settle on the area of present Krapkowice. The name probably meant somebody who snored or had a hoars voice ( Polish: “ chrapać, chrypieć”) or maybe somebody who wanted something ( “ mieć chrapkę”- to want something very much).

basis of a positive grade of achievements at every compulsory
subject, at least “2” - acceptable grade. In the case of one “fail”
grade the pupil can take an exam in this subject. There is also the
possibility of correcting two “fail” grades but the agreement of the
teachers’ council in the school is required and only in exceptional
cases. The pupil who is not promoted and has not passed the exam
has to repeat the form.
The teachers’ council may decide about conditional promotion of a
pupil who has received one “fail” grade, but only once during the
whole cycle of education in the school, except the last from.

Pupils take their first external exam at the end of the 6-year primary school it is a
competence exam. The test is national and compulsory, but is not used for selection
purposes and it does not influence on promotion.
ExaminationsExaminations
At the end of gymnasium, pupils take the next external exam (a written exam), which covers knowledge and skills in humanities, mathematics and natural science. This
examination is compulsory, though its results does not determine the pupils’ progression. However, the results obtained in the exam should guide the choice of a
further educational pathway
At the end of the education in upper secondary school (general lyceum, specialised lyceum, technical secondary school), except vocational school, pupils can take the maturity examination, which consists of written and oral parts. The maturity examination from the school year 2004/2005 will be totally external in its
written part. MENU

needn’t take part in classes which are allocated for the form;
can take part in chosen classes of a higher form in the same school, in the school of higher level of education or realize the programme on their own;

In the school the grading system obliges and every teacher has to keep it.
Every pupil has the right to improve grade "1” and in some cases grade “2” as well. However, it has to be done within two weeks since when the grade was given.
The negative grade, which has been improved, it is not taken into consideration during evaluation at the end of a semester or a school year.

The history of our schoolIn 1966 the Polish nation celebrated 1000 years of existing
its country. In 966 the Polish nation was Christianized through the ceremony of baptism of Polish prince Mieszko the First. In connection with preparations to this celebration an action “1000 schools for Millenium of Poland” was held. Within this action many new schools were built in Poland, including ours. They were called “Statues of Millenium”. Our school was built during one year. On 26th July 1960 the charter of foundation was laid and on 3rd September 1961 there was the solemn opening of the school. The school was given the name of Powstańcy Śląscy (the Silesian Insurgents), in memory of the heroes of three uprisings, which took place in Silesia in 1919, 1920 and 1921. The image of the Monument of Silesian Insurgents in our hall, opposite the entrance of the school recalls about the patrons. It is based on a monument from Góra Św.Anny made by a famous Polish sculptor Ksawery Dunikowski. MENU

The vision of Publiczne Gimnazjum nr 2 in
Krapkowice
• The imperative aim of the educational work of the school is the broad development of students’ personalities and preparing them to a creative, self – reliant life in the constantly changing, pluralistic society. The main school task will be giving to students a coherent vision and better preparation to the participation in adult life through departure from encyclopaedic education and stressing the achievements of competencies.
• The knowledge passed on students should be comprehensible and possible to integrate with students’ experiences of everyday life.
• Each student should understand his/her place in the world which, in spite of scientific development, is not cognizable completely. This understanding should give a sense of safety.
• The basic conditions, which make possible to achieve intended aims, are : a creative atmosphere, which supports the development of the school, and close, based on mutual trust, relationships students – teachers.
• The development of teachers’ group work is a key task, which leads to achieving the coherence of the school work and unity of influence and demands. All teachers are equally responsible for effects of the school work.
• In raising the quality of the school work there are anticipated: the development of interschool teacher training system, work in subject groups, self-education and teachers’ increasing participation in various courses, workshops and seminars.
• The school creates for students proper conditions for achieving knowledge, skills and good habits i.e. developing competencies in the following ranges: learning, thinking, searching, acting, improving themselves, communicating, cooperating.
