Subsurface Drilling Services Representing an important component of our comprehensive portfolio of geotechnical services, TRC has routinely employed a variety of drilling techniques to obtain soil and rock samples for geotechnical analysis and investigative purposes since 1961. Methods that are typically employed by our crews include: continuous flight auger • split spoon • shelby tubes • rock core drilling • non-destructive / non-intrusive geophysical investigations Leveraging such expertise, TRC has the in-house capability to perform all of the geotechnical borings that may be required by a Client and has routinely done so for assignments throughout a wide geographic area that comprises DE, NJ, PA, VA, WV, DC, NY and CT. Our drillers are very familiar with all standard drilling methods and procedures, and are proficient with the use of specialized sampling techniques and the installation of various types of instrumentation. Capabilities of our crews include: • Earth Drilling - split-spoon sampling - auger probes - undisturbed sampling - mud-rotary drilling - thin-walled tube samples - vane shear testing • Instrumentation Installation - piezometers - slope inclinometers - burros-type settlement anchors - extensometers • Rock Coring (N or H sizes) • Pavement/Slab Coring • In-situ Testing - vane shear - CBR - permeability • Well Installation (up to 4” dia.) GEOTECHNICAL With sixteen (16) drill rigs of various configuration, a host of ancillary equipment, and a 4,000 sq. ft. shop and storage facility, TRC can support all of your subsurface exploration needs regardless of complexity or location.

Subsurface Drilling Services

Representing an important component of our comprehensive portfolio of geotechnical services, TRC has routinely employed a variety of drilling techniques to obtain soil and rock samples for geotechnical analysis and investigative purposes since 1961. Methods that are typically employed by our crews include: • continuous flight auger• split spoon• shelby tubes• rock core drilling• non-destructive / non-intrusive

geophysical investigations

Leveraging such expertise, TRC has the in-house capability to perform all of the geotechnical borings that may be required by a Client and has routinely done so for assignments throughout a wide geographic area that comprises DE, NJ, PA, VA, WV, DC, NY and CT.

Our drillers are very familiar with all standard drilling methods and

procedures, and are proficient with the use of specialized sampling techniques and the installation of various types of instrumentation. Capabilities of our crews include:• Earth Drilling

- split-spoon sampling- auger probes- undisturbed sampling- mud-rotary drilling- thin-walled tube samples- vane shear testing

• Instrumentation Installation- piezometers- slope inclinometers- burros-type settlement anchors- extensometers

• Rock Coring (N or H sizes)• Pavement/Slab Coring• In-situ Testing

- vane shear- CBR- permeability

• Well Installation (up to 4” dia.)

GEOTECHNICAL

With sixteen (16)

drill rigs of various

configuration, a host of

ancillary equipment,

and a 4,000 sq. ft. shop

and storage facility, TRC

can support all of your

subsurface exploration

needs regardless of

complexity or location.

Why TRC?

• Large inventory of drilling equipment and depth of personnel enhance responsiveness and facilitate mobilization in any type of terrain or setting.

• Comprehensive support facility ensures that equipment is always in top condition for your next assignment.

TRC crews mobilized atop a pontoon barge in the Anderson Creek Reservoir in Central Pennsylvania to perform sediment sampling using a tripod rig.

A delicate walkway, steep slope, and congested parking areas posed no problems for TRC crews when undertaking work at SEPTA’s Malvern Station in Philadelphia.

TRC crews mobilized in the Sacandaga Reservoir and Saratoga Lake for two bridge replacement projects undertaken in the Adirondack Mountains of New York.

Drilling services for this bridge rehabilitation project in NE Pennsylvania required an innovative mobilization set-up due to excessive river flows and traffic restrictions.

About TRC

A pioneer in groundbreaking scientific and engineering developments since the 1960s, TRC is a national engineering, consulting and construction management firm providing integrated services to the power, oil and gas, environmental and infrastructure markets. We serve a broad range of clients in government and industry, implementing complex projects from initial concept to operations. TRC delivers results that enable clients to achieve success in a complex and changing world.

TRC includes over 4,000 technical professionals and support personnel in more than 120 offices throughout the U.S. Our clients depend on TRC’s multidisciplinary teams to design solutions to their toughest business challenges.

TRC employs more than a dozen drilling crews operating primarily throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic United States. We own an inventory of sixteen (16) truck-, skid-, track-, barge, and ATV-mounted drill rigs, in conjunction with a full complement of ancillary support equipment. Drawing upon such resources, our crews are capable of mobilizing in a wide range of site conditions, including such water-based settings as streams, rivers and bays. A 4,000 sq. ft., full-service support facility that houses an equipment warehouse, repair facility, parts fabrication shop, sample storage and administrative offices ensures that our fleet is maintained in top condition and is ready for deployment when needed.
