Introduction
The Sudanese Authority for Specification and Measurements is a scientific
overseer which controls products according to national standard with the help of
technically specialized committees in co-operation with other well connected
agencies.
The following specifications were set by the Sudanese Standard and Specifications
and measurements through the Technical Committee of Seed oil extracts and
concentrates work programmes.

Watermelon Seeds
1. Product
The following product follows the guidelines set for watermelon seeds
extracted from traditional watermelon.
2. Definition
Watermelon seeds are extracted from traditional watermelon (citrullus
vulgaris) they are cleaned, dried and free from foreign taste or aroma.
3. Measuring Requirements
The following conditions have to be met in watermelon seeds for human
consumption.

4. Fiber - 47
5. Atrophied seeds - 0.8
6. Fatty Acids-Oleic Acid - 3
7. Amount of Peroxide (Oxygen peroxide) - 10
4. Health Requirements
4.1. Pesticides and weed killers are not to exceed the limit set globally.
4.2. The seeds are to be free from heavy materials.
4.3. All health requirements are to be followed when packaging/ transporting.

5. Sampling
The Sudanese Standard Specifications and Measurements are to be followed when
taking seed samples for testing and are to be packaged and stored safely.
Watermelon seeds are divided up through physical requirements:-
5.1. White watermelon seeds: White or yellow in color known locally as the (Super
Casher, Casher, normal white)
5.2. Normal Export watermelon seeds: White, brown and yellow seeds first grade
is known as the (Faraasha)

6. Packaging and Storage
Watermelon seeds are to be packed in aired container such as burlap (e.g
Jute) or any other crop containers which are dry, clean free from foreign objects,
dirt, moisture and smell. To be stored in well ventilated areas far from
contaminants according to world storage standards for crops.
7. Identification Badge
Every package is to have a clear badge not susceptible to damage to identify the
following:-
1. Name
2. Product type
3. Date of production (Month/Year).
4. Code
5. Country of Origin.
6. Place of Manufacture
7. Brand name
8. Net Weight (kg)
