Regulation EN55011:1998+A1:1999+A2:2002

Industrial. Scientific and medical (ISM) radio frequency equipment.Limits and methods of measurement

The amendment A2 came into force the August 1st, 2002.

By July 1st, 2005 the regulation EN 55011:1998 only is legally valid, when therequirements of amendment A2:2002 are complied with.

The list beneath will show you the most important reforms and change of regulationEN55011:98. These are contained in the amendment A2:02

The limits (peak / average) of table 2a refer to the spectrum of conductiveinterference voltage, measured on the 3x400Vac mains lines of equipments class Agroup 2. (150kHz < f < 30MHz). These limits and the method of measurement haveno change with regard to the regulation EN55011:98

The limit of table 5b refer to EDM and arc welding machines. This limit andthe method of measurement have changed and are published in theamendment A2:2002

Chapter New aspects of amendment A2:2002 compared withregulation EN 55011:1998

§4Organization of ISM-

equipements

The manufacturer of ISM-equipments has to advise theuser about the specific characteristics of equipment class Agroup 2, by installing of a label or by a reference to theoperating manual.

see §4.1 and §4.2

§4.1 Separation in groups ISM-equipment of the group 2 produce intentional HF-energy for metal handling purposes.

§4.2 Subdivision into classes

Equipments of class A must respect the limit A. Theseequipments may neither be installed nor applied indomestic areas.

The operating manual refers to the potential emission ofRFI by equipments class A group 2.

§5.1.2.1

Continuous RFI emissionin the range of

frequencies150kHz<f<1000MHz

Equipments class A group 2 have to respect the limitsindicated on table 2a.

§5.2

Limit of the EM emissionin the range of

frequencies30MHz<f<1000MHz

The limit of EDM and arc welding machines is indicated ontable 5b.

The distance D between the DUT and the antenna may be10m < D < 30m.

§6.1 Background noiseThe background noise should have –6db lower values thanthe limit.s, otherwise the distance between the DUT and theantenna may be reduced.
