1. THESIS STATEMENT Present the project’s argument or interpretation in two sentences. If you are using the NHD theme, you might want to make it evident in your thesis statement.

Margaret Sanger had the initiative to create the first birth control pill, fought for woman’s

rights and encouraged sex ed. Sanger made a change in the world and we can still see and experience what she has done, especially women because they now women have a choice in regards to family planning.

2. SUMMARY OF PROJECTBriefly explain your project and its conclusion. Include: How and why did change happen and what was the impact? Why is it historically significant? What historical meaning or importance can we learn from your findings?

I did research on Margaret Sanger In order to demonstrate the good effect that she had in society and still to this day women are free to decide whether they want to become mothers or not. Women did not have the right to learn about sex or get contraceptives. All of this changed thanks to Sanger. She stood up for women all over the world and did al she could to help women. Overall, Sanger demonstrates leadership by creating the first birth control clinic, advertising the clinic even though it was against the law, and informed people about sex, and fought for women's rights. Even after her death, women know have the sedition about becoming parents. Not only women, but men and couples now know how to have safe sex and prevent pregnancies.

3. Required for projects using the National History Day theme only.Explain how this project integrates the NHD theme “Leadership & Legacy in [Chicago/Illinois] History” into its argument.

Margaret Sanger was a leader by standing up for women even though it was against the law to peruse sex education or any type of contraceptives. Everything that she did is still around. Her legacy is very important now a day because women now prevent pregnancies and can abort safely without risking their lives.

4. PROCESS

A. What historical question did you start off with—and how did it change once you began doing your research?

How did Margaret Sanger show leader ship and legacy? What are some things from her legacy? What did Margaret Sanger do at the time to create her movement? These questions were always present when I did my research because this helped me to start the research. At first I did not know what to research but these questions gave me an idea of what to focus on.

B. What kinds of sources did you use as evidence to develop your argument (for example, letters, photographs, government documents, interviews, etc.)?

I used books and websites. I used quotes That Margaret Sanger said that proved that she was a leader. There were specific things that she said that were very strong and proved that she cared what she was doing. I also used books because it described more detailed what where the things that she did. The websites that I used also had primary sources, for example the flyer for her first birth control clinic. This really helped because it gave me an idea of how things were back then.

C. Select one piece of evidence that you used and explain how it influenced your argument.

I used and interview with Margaret Sanger which really influenced my argument because of the way that she spoke. There were questions that were asked and since she was not prepared for them she answered honestly. She gave some of her background to explain what caused her to create her movement and the challenges she went through in order to accomplish her movement, which was to help women with birth control.
