Why Amorgos ? At the easternmost end of the Cyclades, Amorgos invites visitors to stop and discover its secrets. For centuries considered a part of the “barren line”, up to the 80’s Amorgos was just another off-the-beaten-track island, largely unknown but to a handful of devoted visitors who defied the long and unreliable ferry trip to this wild range of mountains rising from the sea. Since 1988 and Luc Besson's film "The Big Blue", which made the island famous worldwide, Amorgos has embraced more travellers, still maintaining its authenticity and unique character. Its centuries-old trails are still used by nature lovers as well as local farmers, while the simplicity of everyday life follows the seasons of the year. FindinGreece will take you through this wonderful land, from its famous beaches and landmark Monastery up to the mountain villages, where life has remained the same for centuries. Traditional festivals, local products and a well maintained network of hiking paths will immerse you into a true travel in time.

AMORGOS – Fishing

FISHING TRIP Be part of one of the oldest traditions of

the Mediterranean.

Fishing has been one of the main activities of islanders since time

immemorial. Traditional fishing boats called “kaikia” still dominate

the scene at seas surrounding the Greek islands and their fresh

catch quickly finds its way in local restaurant dishes.

Join us on an unforgettable experience, accompanying our local

fisherman to his daily fishing trip at the waters of Amorgos.

DESCRIPTION

Depending on wind conditions, our trip will start in the morning

from the port of Katapola or Agios Pavlos. We will sail to a fishing

area where you can try your fishing skills, guided by Giannis, our

experienced fisherman. We will then set anchor at a location

where you can enjoy swimming and snorkelling in crystal clear

waters while Giannis prepares lunch from the catch of the day. We

will enjoy our meal on board, giving us the opportunity to admire

the serene marine beauty while sharing the moment with our local

captain, before returning to our port of departure.

AMORGOS – Farming

LOCAL FARM Visit a farm in the area of Aegiali and be part of everyday local life!

A peaceful world of gardens and animals is hidden in “Kambos”, the valley of Aegiali. Traditionally, this has been the heart of the northern region of the island, with olive groves and gardens (perivolia) providing locals with the produce necessary for their households. For most of its history, Amorgos used to be a quite isolated island and islanders had to provide their families with the basic means of survival themselves. Today, even though products arrive easily from the mainland and abroad, most islanders still preserve their gardens and farms and are proud of their own products, which they invite you to share with them. DESCRIPTION Our local farmer will introduce you to his cattle, his produce and his work. You will learn about the typical products of the region, the procedure involved in their production and you will then be able to get dirty and join the work! Around noon, we will stop and enjoy a light meal (meze) surrounded by the relaxing rural atmosphere.

AMORGOS – Guided Tours

AT2 Discover Secret Amorgos – Kato Meria

Description

Kato Meria (literally the “Lower Side”) remains unknown to most visitors of Amorgos but a trip there will reward you with a pure rural Cycladic landscape and genuine hospitality. Our meeting point can be in Aegiali, Chora or Katapola, depending on your location of stay. We will start our tour at the village of Arkesini, the main settlement of the area, and the Hellenistic tower of Agia Triada, a well preserved building of the 4th century BC. We will enjoy a coffee break at the traditional kafenío (coffee place) right next to the tower and stroll around the village, meeting people at their everyday activities. We will then continue to Agia Paraskevi, the location of the biggest panygiri (traditional festival) of Amorgos, and its beautiful complex of cells, kitchen and other facilities that host visitors every year on July 25th and 26th. We will then continue to the beach of Kalotaritissa, a well protected bay at the South-Western tip of Amorgos, after passing by the bay of Liveros where the shipwreck of Olympia can be seen. We will start our way back from the village of Kolofana before stopping for lunch in a well known restaurant of the area of Kato Meria, the last part of our trip.

AMORGOS – Guided Tours

AT4 Villages of Aegiali

Description

This is the best way to familiarise with the area of Aegiali, the North-Eastern part of Amorgos. Today, the asphalt road connecting Aegiali with Chora and Katapola ensures continuous communication and contact but in the past, the wild mountain range between these areas resulted to the creation of an almost “island-inside-an-island” feeling. Our meeting point can be in any of the villages of Aegiali, but also in Chora or Katapola, depending on your location of stay. Our tour will start at the village of Langada, where we will enjoy a beautiful stroll through the picturesque alleys, making a stop at the distillery of essential oils from local herbs and an old olive press. We will continue to the village of Tholaria, where we will visit the Byzantine museum and have a short walk through the traditional alleys. We will then visit Potamos, a quiet village overlooking the bay of Aegiali and the surrounding islands, where we can enjoy a coffee break admiring the view. We will then head to the last stop of our tour, the port of Aegiali, with its beautiful sea front and numerous shops, cafés and restaurants.

AMORGOS – Walking Tours

WALKING TOURS Discover a walking paradise and immerse into a trip in space and time.

PRACTICAL INFO: Our walking tours are available all year round but some of the suggested routes may be subject to weather conditions. We present 11 routes that cover all areas of Amorgos, but we are happy to discuss other alternatives depending on your physical abilities, hiking level and special interests. Our tours are offered in Greek, English, French and Spanish. We strongly recommend that you take with you adequate quantities of drinking water (a 1.5 litre bottle would be sufficient for all routes from September to May but more is recommended during summer months, particularly for longer routes). Make sure you are comfortably and adequately dressed, with long pants in order to avoid possible scratches from shrubs and appropriate hiking shoes. While significant parts of the paths are paved with stone, you are most likely to walk on bare ground and loose stones too so shoes that protect your ankles are preferred. Don’t forget to wear a hat and sunglasses –the Aegean sun is strong indeed!

Amorgos is a walking and hiking paradise, offering a well maintained network of paths that connect villages and other points of interest. We will guide you through the pristine nature of Amorgos, taking you to places where time has stopped as if under the spell of the breathtaking views. Take the chance to immerse into a trip in space and time, meeting locals in their everyday activities in harmony with the land and the sky.

please make sure you address us or our

collaborators directly at the time of the

incident so that we make sure we find an

adequate solution. Otherwise, we accept

complaints in written form (via email) the

latest 7 days after the provision of the service

under question for which we will try to do our

best to resolve the issue. However please

note our disclaimer below for cases where

FindinGreece is not held responsible. It is also

important to note that in case of multiple

services booked with us for a period

extending more than one day, we expect

comments or complaints to be done during

the time period of service provision; it isn’t

expected to receive a complaint message

after departure without having had any

feedback of that type while providing our

service.

PRICES

Our prices include all applicable taxes.

Our prices are based on financial data as of January 2017 and are valid for the current year (2017). In the event of an unexpected increase in VAT applicable immediately, or any similar increase, FindinGreece reserves the right to revise the prices of services provided. Revised prices will be applicable for reservations made more than 30 days prior to the date of service. For services reserved less than 30 days prior, the prices valid at the time of reservation apply.

PAYMENT

A reservation is not considered secured until

deposit has been made. The amount of the

deposit depends on the service required but in

any case should correspond to a minimum of

25% of the total amount of the reservation.

Where a Service Agreement has been signed,

the deposit amount and payment and

cancellation policy are stated in that

document.

Balance of the reservation must be paid 30

days prior to the date of the service provision,

except for reservations that are done during

the last 30 days, in which cases the whole

amount is expected to be deposited upon

reservation.

Please see below, under our cancellation

policy, the clause related to non-payment of

balance 30 days prior to the date of service,

as expected.

Individual activities, with duration of one day

or less, are prepaid in full upon reservation.

The vouchers issued for our services are

personal and not transferrable to others. In

case of change on the voucher data, a fee of

15 € is expected.

CANCELLATION

General cancellation terms:

For cancellations made up to 30 days prior

to the date of service, no fee will be charged

(except for transaction fees).

For cancellations made 29-21 days prior to

the date of service, 25% of the total amount

of the reservation will be charged.

For cancellations made 20-8 days prior to

the date of service, 50% of the total amount

of the reservation will be charged.

For cancellations made during the last 7

days prior to the date of service or in case

of non-show, the total amount of the

reservation will be charged.

If balance payment hasn’t been completed 30

days prior to the date of service, as expected

according to our payment policy above, the

service is cancelled and the deposit withheld.

All date limits mentioned above are inclusive.

Where a Service Agreement has been signed,

the cancellation policy is stated in that

document.

Cancellations are considered valid in written

form (email) and the date of cancellation is the

date of the relevant email sent.
