REFUNDSRefunds will be issued under the following circumstances ONLY: Must have a letter of request to the director of the Department.

1) If the P&R Department cancels a program due to low-registration numbers, a full refund will be issued.

The Suncrew Leaders will provide a variety of active, passive, sports & arts & crafts activities that will be offered simultaneously at each of the locations to ensure that every child will have activity options.

The Playgrounds in motion program is a free drop-in program designed to provide recreational opportunities for kids within walking distance of their homes. Please be advised our Playgrounds in motion program is designed as a drop-in activity program and NOT intended as a free babysitting service. All children must have a place to go at all times during the day to access washrooms and for emergencies. These guidelines will be strictly enforced! Booster Seats: The regulations stipulate that all children under the age of nine must be secured in a booster seat until they reach at least 36 kilograms (79lbs) in weight or 145 centimeters (57 inches) in height. Research indicates that the use of an appropriate child passenger restraint reduces the risk of serious injury by 40 to 60 percent in the event of a collision. If your child falls under this category, parents will be responsible for providing seats for their child for any outings that require transportation.

Located at the Byron Dobson Arena, a variety of different sport, recreational, art and cultural activities will be featured to provide children with an opportunity to learn new activities in a safe, fun, non-competitive environment. No skill is required for any of the activities. The emphasis in the camps is to have fun, meet other children, and be in motion while learning new skills & games. A variety of unique day trips and outings will be organized to compliment the themes and to enhance the camp experience. The camps will participate in Friday Special Events held each Friday in conjunction with the Playgrounds in motion program.

Inclusion in recreation is essential for meeting the leisure needs of individuals with disabilities. Our leaders work closely with the participant & family to provide an enriching recreation experience in the

least restrictive environment. The Riverview Parks & Recreation Department strives for participants to function at their highest level of ability. Benefits of participation include increased socialization

& community awareness, development of new leisure skills, increased emotional well-being, increased self-esteem, all in a fun, safe and structured recreation environment.

Camp Discovery is a semi-structured program that enables children with special needs in the community to become involved in recreation and playground activities, such as, swimming, crafts, singsongs, passive games, outings & special events. The summer program is free of charge and based on a drop-in system. Due to limited staff numbers, we cannot facilitate one-on-one interaction at all times; however we welcome support workers.

Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.-12 noon and 1-4 p.m. at the Byron Dobson Arena from June 27th to August 25th.

Please note: A completed information form and a personal meeting with staff are required prior to admission to the program. Forms, weekly activities and Friday Special Event details will be available on May 30th at the Parks and Recreation office and on the web at www.activeriverview.com.

What will you do as your

Random Act of Kindness?

Beginning on August 24, 2011 in Cape Spear, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay will retrace the Canadian segment of the original Man In Motion World Tour, traveling 12,000 kilometres, through 600 communities and concluding in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 22, 2012. This time, one will inspire many in motion; engaging 7,000 participants from across Canada who have made their own difference in the lives of others. To find and recognize these participants, the Rick Hansen Foundation launched an online public contest that opened on April 5, 2011 at RickHansenRelay.com, allowing Canadians to enter to win a spot for themselves or nominate a worthy individual to participate in the Relay as a Medal-Bearer. Please visit RickHansenRelay.com for more information.

Join us for a FREE Zumba party and refreshments the morning of Saturday, October 1st at our Small Hall, 145 Lakeside Drive to meet the Rick Hansen relay team. For times and further details check activeriverview.com in late summer or call 387-2024.

It really feels like home!

822 Coverdale Road, Riverview NB

We didn’t know what to expect with retirement living. When we heard Parkland Riverview was a Shannex property, we felt good about that. We were confident about making the decision when we came to speak with people here. The staff is so helpful and accommodating. We came from a condo and it’s been great to not have to cook. We play bridge, bingo and go to the Sunday hymn sing. We are meeting a lot of very fine people. It really feels like home. Well, it is home!

If you’d like to know more about retirement living, bring a friend or relative and be our guest for lunch. To book, call Patty Spencer:
