Peddi Café: Now We’re Cooking!

I am thrilled that our new Peddi Café has now opened and received such a fantastic response from our employees and guests here in Bradley. As you know, our goal was to offer healthy/nutritious food at reasonable prices so our people can maintain a healthy lifestyle that benefits themselves and their families. With the help of Chef Marc Magiera and our Maintenance “Construction Crew”, I can say we are right on target.

The food is both nutritious and delicious! And at $5 a meal, no fast food joint can match it! Plus it is great to sit down and share a great meal with your friends and co-workers.

One of the best features is that now our employees and their families can enjoy lunch at the PeddiCafe! I can’t describe how happy I am to see “Dad, Mom, and the kids” having a family lunch together.

We have had multiple customers enjoy lunch and dinner at the PeddiCafe, and each one has raved about the quality of the food, the beautiful dining area, and the “extra effort” of every Peddinghaus employee to insure a successful visit.

Thank you for your support of the PeddiCafe, and I look forward to having a meal with each of you!

From Peddi Palooza to the Pelicans: Fun for all members of our “Peddi-Family” of employees!

Nothing makes me happier than spending time with our employees. Our people in both Andrews and Bradley are hard working, dedicated, and always enjoy getting together. That’s why I was so happy to see such a large participation at both of our summer events.

Peddi Palooza Picnic

I loved seeing so many employees and meeting your families at Peddi Palooza! Employees, spouses, kids, grandparents, grandkids, – everyone had a great, great time!

Peddi Palooza had it all! With Chef Marc’s delicious Bar-B-Q feast, our Peddi Band, the Petting Zoo, Bounce House and Golf Simulator – there was something for everyone! The kids loved the face painter, playing dress up for the photo booth, and the creativity of the Balloon Lady. I think you will agree with me that the magician really “stole the show” (along with some other things…)

My personal favorite was sampling the ice cream AND the opportunity to submerge Nick, Todd, Elliott and Lyle in the dunk tank. Now, that was FUN!!!

Isn’t everyone glad that I ordered such a beautiful day for Peddi Palooza? Thanks again to our organizing committee headed by Karen Zigrossi – another great event!

PCSC and the Pelicans –Fun in Myrtle Beach

On August 10, the PCSC crew and families enjoyed an exciting baseball game at TicketReturn Field, as the hometown Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the first place Potomac Nationals 6 -2. The Pelicans are special to PCSC as pitcher Josh McElwee actually grew up in Andrews!

PCSC employees, spouses, kids, grandkids feasted on chicken, burgers, and hot dogs at a great pre-game picnic in the Club Pavilion. Everyone then enjoyed the game action as the two teams battled for first place. (The kids also had fun burning off extra energy in the bounce house).

Of course there were a couple of Peddinghaus “highlights” as Splash, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans mascot sat down on Bob Meltzer’s lap and made fun of Bob’s Chicago Cubs jersey. Also, young Cam Morris, attending the game with the Tisdales, received an actual foul ball during the game.

Our own Darlene Priest and her two sons were featured on the TicketReturn Field “Big Screen” as they were “moving to the music” during the 7th inning stretch. Nice!

A big thank you to Jessica Jennings for her hard work in organizing this outing! Great fun!

Peddi Kids Love their T Shirts

A real hit of both events were the “Super” Peddinghaus T-Shirts for all the kids. Designed by our own Marketing Team, the cool Superman logo – embossed with the Peddinghaus “P” – will make each Peddi Kid the envy of their friends at school. (Rumor has it that Lyle’s 3-year old grandson refuses to go to bed at night unless he is wearing his Peddinghaus shirt.)

Thanks to Our Employees

A big “THANKS” to each of you for your diligence and determination these past months. I appreciate your teamwork as we all work together to keep Peddinghaus Number One around the world!

They Work Out!

Melanie Stueck, PC Purchasing, participated in her first Warrior Dash 5K Mud Obstacle Race this

summer. She survived crawling under barbed wire, climbing up mud hills and jumping over fire…and all

those things made her excited to do it again next year!

Melanie also participated in the Self Magazine Workout in the Park with Micki Abels, PC

Accounting. The workout took place at Grant Park in Chicago. This was their 2nd year attending the event that provides various types of workouts to

keep up with their healthy lifestyles!

Cheryl Werner also participated in the Warrior Dash 5K with her daughter Lauren. In Cheryl’s

words, “If a mother and daughter can complete a 5K running through mud, climbing over walls, crawling under barb wire and leaping over fire,

they can overcome anything!”

-------------------------------------------------------------------Congrats Graduates!

Matthew Werner, son of Cheryl Werner, PC Accounting, recently graduated from Manteno HS

and will be attending Southern IL University majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Congratulations to Matt and his parents!

Getting to Know Your Team Member

Alex Hill, Shipping & Receiving, Bradley

Alex joined PC in July 2006 working in our stockroom. Since that time he has attended several trade shows, participated in a job fair and has served as Asst Supervisor. He has 2 children, Jordan, age 12 and Sarah, age 19.

A few things you might not know about Alex: he loves to cook, landscaping is a passion and not only does he write music and sing, he has actually had a few acting roles! He was an extra on The Boss which aired on Starz and he will have a part in the upcoming movie Transformers 4! Alex says being a movie extra requires A LOT of patience and the pay isn’t the greatest, so luckily for us, he’s not going to quit his day job!

Alex’s motto to live by is to be courteous and genuine to people. “We are all human, we all have feelings and the need to feel wanted. Remember to uplift each other, encourage each other. We are not made of “steel”. We all ready have someone to take care of the steel needs….and that’s the Peddinghaus Corporation family!”

Thanks Alex for sharing a bit of your story with us.

Getting to Know Your Team Member

Wayne Burrows, Shipping & Receiving, PCSC

Wayne has been with PCSC since January 2008. Not only has he worked in S & R, but he has also helped out in the Weld Shop running saws if they fell behind schedule. He is also a member of the PCSC Safety Committee. He applied at PCSC because he heard nothing but good things about the company from his friends!

Some of Wayne’s outside interests include hunting, fishing, target shooting, collecting baseball cards and carpentry work. His favorite movie is Rio Lobo with John Wayne and his favorite food is steak! Most people would not know that Wayne is a good cook!

Wayne’s motto to live by is “Always get the job done!”

He believes in being on time for work (and we love that!), getting the job done and always remember to keep your family first!

We are glad you are part of our team Wayne and thanks for sharing yourself with us!

They Did!

Our lovely April Chiarenza, MS Admin Assistant, married her love, Gentan, aka “G”, Schulteis on Saturday, July 20, 2013 in a beautiful garden

ceremony!

They first met 7 years ago when introduced by Brian Corbett, PC, but alas, the timing was just not right. Fast forward 5 years and again, Brian suggested to April that she should touch base with G. April thought, “Brian must know something I don’t know”, so they met for coffee and the rest is history. Gentan proposed very patiently by hanging a bride & groom frog ornament on the Christmas tree which included a shiny ring! The ring actually hung on the tree for a week without April noticing, but she did and they did and we wish them a life filled with love and laughter!

Congratulations April & G!

Cupcakes to Crafts

Lauren Bertrand, Service, has always had a niche for arts, crafts & creativity! Whether it’s baking up a batch of cupcakes with her own recipes & special frostings, to creating paintings, prints and gifts for others, she loves to create, share and sell her creations! Thank you Lauren for sharing with us!

Geek Speek!

By Tyler “Geek” Leitzke

“Are you sure that email attachment is safe?!” You probably wouldn’t eagerly welcome a stranger into your house to do anything they please without

some heightened sense of awareness, right? The same care should be given with email

attachments! Remember, that viruses are known to spread and

cause mischief! One person’s carelessness in opening a virus (can of worms) can potentially

cause problems for others too! So take care and be considerate of others

Where in the World is Alex?

What does a country boy do all winter long to keep his mind occupied? Simple, he spends countless

hours restoring his 1971 GMC K2500. Those hours paid off at the Kankakee BBQ Fest with a win!

Congrats George Sirois, SSSL!

Just like Papa!

Future Salesman?

By Steve Farrow

I always knew my 5 yo grandson, Patrick was smart. Today while he was on his way to have the cast removed from his

broken arm, they stopped next to a truck loaded with fabricated steel beams. Patrick said, “Mom, those were made by

Peddinghaus on a Peddi – machine.”

Very good, Patrick, very good!
