As you can see from this newsletter, there is so much to look forward to, with One Book, One Milton (OBOM), MPL’s involvement with the Pan Am/Parapan Am Games, new Integrated Library System (ILS) that’s on its way, updated Master Plan, engaging programs and more. I’m excited about what this year has in store for us, and the Board and staff will continue working together to move the Library system forward to meet the needs of our community. See Inside for Details. Improving your Library Experience A new Integrated Library System (ILS) is going to be implemented in mid-July at MPL, and we are confident it will enhance your user experience. What is an ILS? It is the backbone of a modern library’s operations which tracks all the essential information about each individual item in MPL’s collections and each person registered as a patron, including all of the wealth of circulation related data. The new ILS replaces an older system which was no longer being updated by its developers, and it will provide a new look and feel to the library catalogue you use in-house and online. Some key benefits we know you’ll appreciate: a Google-look catalogue, with eResource and program information integrated in your search responses. Not everything will work the same way and there may be a bump or two in the road, but we look forward to helping you experience and benefit from the new product: it is pretty amazing. Message from the ChairBrad Boehmer

In March 2015, MPL welcomed a new Milton Public Library Board appointed by Town Council, and it is my pleasure to introduce the new members: Matthew Fabian, James Harland, Sarah Marshall, Margaret Warmels and Councillors Robert Duvall, Zeeshan Hamid and Rick Malboeuf. I was delighted to be re-appointed to the Board, along with Daniel Cloutier.

Improving your Library ExperienceA new Integrated Library System (ILS) is going to be implemented in mid-July at MPL, and we are confident it will enhance your user experience.

Chris Hadfield is coming to MPL on May 25 for a book signing. For complete details, and to see a list of all 2015 activities, please visit www.onebookonemilton.ca
