MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Joanne M. Stokes, President

Have a wonderful summer!

From April 21st to the 23rd, Stokes Creative Group, Inc. participated in the 2015 TransAction Conference in Atlantic City at the beautiful Tropicana Hotel and Casino. This annual transportation conference welcomed nearly 1,000 attendees, and workshop topics varied from rail, to transit, to pedestrian trails, and many more.

SCG Vice President Chris Stokes and Public Outreach Specialist Nicole Pace presented a high-energy 60-minute workshop entitled, “Social Media: Keeping Your Transportation Project on the Road to Success” with fresh new insights and best practices on how to engage the public using various social media platforms. An in-depth discussion on the pros and cons of using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram were some of the points mentioned, as well as the various elements of a successful public involvement campaign.

The Jersey Shore is home to a vast number of scenic waterfront towns that make the perfect backdrop for a walk or bike ride. Stokes Creative Group, Inc. recently teamed up with The RBA Group to provide public outreach support on the Bay Head Bike and Pedestrian Plan. This plan will identify improvements necessary to provide a safer and more efficient bicycle and pedestrian network, and promote a healthy, active community. As part of our support, we built the project website featuring a detailed survey, project details and an interactive wikimap.

Since research indicates that more than 50% of adults in the US own a Smartphone or tablet, we know our reliance on mobile technology is extremely important. In the summer, we’re always on the go to barbeques and family fun time on the weekends, and the one device we’d never leave home without is our cell phone. That’s why when we’re building websites like this one for our clients, our talented staff at Stokes Creative Group, Inc. focuses on making sure it’s mobile friendly.

Summertime and bicycle riding go hand in hand, and when it’s done for a great cause, the joy is multiplied. London, the 3-year old son of Stokes Creative Group, Inc. Senior Programmer Matthew Touhey, participated in the Little Angels School Trike-A-Thon on May 29th for St. Jude Children’s Hospital Research. Approximately 20 children learned riding-toy safety lessons and raised money for the highly regarded children’s research hospital. Last year, more than 7,000 schools participated in the event. London was excited to receive many generous contributions from friends, family, colleagues, and our company as well. With the success of the Trike-a-thon, our youngest stars learned the value of giving back.

BIG HEARTS. LITTLE WHEELS.

Did you know that according to recent research done by eMarketer, mobile searches are projected to exceed desktop searches for the first time this year? With more than 84 billion desktop searches being performed annually, this data reminds us how powerful the growing mobile landscape looks in the world today.

Call us today to get a tactical plan that will help you succeed in this competetive mobile-app landscape.

REAPING THE REWARDSStokes Creative Group’s award-winning video team has done it again — our educational video documentary capturing the stories told by the Burlington County Underground Railroad Museum Founder, Louise Calloway, recently earned a 2015 Gold Hermes Creative Award.

The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. The gold award is presented to entries judged to be among the most outstanding of more than 6,000 entries from the US and 22 other countries.

This documentary was produced for the Burlington County Resource Conservation and is played inside the museum for visitors to enjoy.

Have you spotted the #NJTTF hashtag circulating your favorite social media platform lately and wondered what it stood for? Well, if you follow the NJ Alliance For Action (@allianceaction on Twitter), you’ll find them advocating awareness for the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund. Their cheeky emails subject lines command attention with “WTF” (What Trust Fund), and we’re much more than just proud sponsors of this great organization… trust us!

Recently, we took on a huge photo documentation project for the Alliance to capture the most heavily congested and damaged roads and bridges within every county in the state of New Jersey.

Each photo was geotagged with metadata of the exact location, and all of the images were placed into an online sitemap for viewing. The Alliance are now using this project to make representatives from each county aware of the hazardous conditions they face on local roads and urge them to take action.

This spring, the architechtural students at New Jersey Institute of Technology took part in their annual Masonry Design Build competition, and Stokes Creative Group, Inc. was on hand to capture the very exciting grand finale to the semester-long project.

The students, separated into teams, designed a complete Perth Amboy police station. During the final weekend leading up to judging they had the challenge and opportunity to build a 10-foot high mockup that captures the essence of their design. Masonry Contractors of NJ and the Alllied Craftsworkers Labor management committee, with support from the local masonry unions and contractors, supplied the expertise needed to make their visions come true.

The design/build process is unique to the school as it allows the students to actually get hands on experience with their designs and to work as a team with professional masons. The competition takes place on the NJIT campus in front of the architectural school building and the builds stay in place all year long.

It’s a challenge and an adrenalin rush for SCG’s crews also as they must capture the excitement during the Saturday and Sunday build then produce a completely edited final product for the Monday evening banquet where the video is shown on two 10-foot screens.

Rockland and Westchester county residents receive construction progress updates about the New NY Bridge Project at this years’s 2015 annual public meeting

materials were prepared for the meetings as well, including display boards, magazines, and numerous handouts.

Stokes also developed customized animations and illustrations of construction efforts, helping demonstrate complex operations for the public in an easy-to-follow format. The team was also on hand to organize the Q&A sessions with project leadership and state representatives.

Stokes looks forward to providing more updates on our efforts as construction on this critical infrastructure project continues to advance.

Stokes Creative Group, Inc. continues to deliver extensive and unique public outreach efforts for the New NY Bridge project to replace the Tappan Zee Bridge in 2015.

Most recently, Stokes developed a 90-minute presentation for the project’s Annual Public Meetings in Rockland and Westchester counties. Residents were invited to attend the in-depth briefing, which detailed the construction progress to date and what lies ahead for the largest bridge and highway project in the nation.

The elaborate presentation included several time-lapse videos, showing months of construction progress as well as fully produced vignettes, highlighting the hard working men and women behind the project. Dozens of informational
