2 // BETTER TOGETHER: YOUR VOICE, OUR INNOVATION
BETTER TOGETHER: YOUR VOICE, OUR INNOVATION. System | Definition: a group of related parts that work together.
At ESAB®, the design process begins with us working together. Customers talk, we listen. For example,
we asked, “What results should the ‘perfect welding wire’ give to improve your welding operations?”
Your answer was clear: give us a MIG wire that eliminates rework so we can reduce our total welding costs.
The result is Purus™, a new 70S-6 solid MIG wire that delivers benefits you can monetize.
If your operation relies on cored wires, consider the additional savings by pairing ESAB cored wires, look at the
12% savings delivered by pairing ESAB cored wires and Tweco® guns with Velocity consumables. To further
reduce the cost of operation, explore the advantages using a Warrior® welding system.
Listening to our customers changes the game. In the last issue of Launch, ESAB introduced Rebel. This
breakthrough welder changes the game because it offers a welding experience that has no competition, and
now we have the video footage to prove it. For an amazing Stick welding experience, use the Rebel to run
some Atom Arc Acclaim, the user-friendly 7018 electrode.
In fact, user-friendly designs extend to every system and product featured in this Summer Launch magazine.
That includes the Victor G Series of regulators, which now comes in a complete line-up of light, medium,
heavy duty and two-stage heavy duty options.
For more information on any of these solutions, contact your ESAB sales representative. In the meantime,
keep talking — we’re listening.
3 // ESAB ON THE MOVE
ESAB ON THE MOVE.Integration Update ESAB has made significant progress on the Denton Distribution Center
expansion, Roanoke Distribution Center and Florence Manufacturing
Operation migrations.
The inventory relocation from Roanoke to Denton will commence in early
June and is scheduled for completion by mid-July. During this period,
ESAB will ship products to customers from both the Roanoke and Denton
distribution centers. Various steps have been taken to promote inventory
accuracy and timely delivery throughout this transition period, including
additional staffing.
By consolidating distribution
in Denton, we will remove 24
hours out of material handling,
improve stock availability for general distribution and reduce lead time.
Complete active inventory relocation to Denton is planned for July 15,
with a targeted project completion date of August 2.
Manufacturing Operations The manufacturing of mechanized plasma consumables has now been
fully relocated from Florence to Denton. To better ensure timely delivery,
our use of outsource suppliers has been expanded to increase capacity,
and all equipment has been staffed across at least three shifts to increase
in-house capacity.
Cutting Automation assembly, Special Customized Orders (SCO) and
Warranty Return/Repair operations are slated to relocate from Florence
to Denton following the completion of the Distribution Center.
In Hermosillo, first article builds and qualifications are underway for the
Mixed Model Power Supply Assembly and Subassemblies. All CNC
machines used for production have been relocated from Florence to
Hermosillo and are now operational.
As you can see, we are planning diligently to ensure a smooth transition
and provide uninterrupted service.
ESAB Announces Student Contest Winners ESAB has announced the winners of its 2015 A Cut Above student contest. Three individual winners won a $250 cash process for their essays, and each member of three winning teams received $500 for their submission of a project that incorporated welding and cutting. The six schools associated with the winners won an equipment package valued at $4,000. Check out a few of the winners, and don’t forget the ESAB and Victor educational discounts when calling on schools.
These welding students from the Denton-Lagrone Area Technical Center (high school) built eight benches for an outside class; two students from the photography class snapped this photo.

TRUTH: REBEL CHANGES THE GAMEThe truth has been revealed: Rebel stands above the rest of the field because it offers a superior
welding experience. Once users demo a Rebel, they realize that the traditional, safe choices mean settling for less.
The more you weld with the Rebel, the more it sells the machine.
OFF-ROAD EXPERT – ESAB partnered with Ian Johnson, host of Power Nation’s Xtreme Off-Road. Ian highlighted seven factors that differentiate Rebel from the competition. Check out these “REBEL TRUTHS” at esab.com/dare, and look for Rebel on Spike TV, CBS Sports and NBC Sports.
PREPARED – To demonstrate the Rebel’s portability, rugged design and multi-process output, ESAB took the Rebel to the Nitto King of the Hammers Ultra4 Race Week. As the official welder of KOH, ESAB helped make more than 200 repairs at the event.

Rebel buzz packed the ESAB booth at this year’s SEMA show. “Everybody’s in line for hours to weld on the new Rebel… the [Rebel] release had people at the door,” says Willie B, host of 2 Guys Garage (at left) who interviewed Ken Konopa, ESAB SVP of Marketing (right).
This little yellow box of joy... I must say I have used a bunch of welders before and this rebel is wonderful! The set up is easy, yet has lots of adjustments! The smig for all who don’t know is killer! And the quality and build is great.

Further leveraging its acquisition of Victor Technologies™, ESAB has now rebranded and expanded its ET and ES Series of single-phase
Stick/TIG and AC/DC TIG/Stick inverters.
Previously sold under the Thermal Arc® brand, the ET (ESAB TIG) and ES (ESAB STICK) Series of inverters combines compact, lightweight
portability with excellent arc performance for mechanical contracting, light fabrication, repair and maintenance, farm/ranch, motorsports
and home-hobby applications.
ESAB FABRICATOR® 141i AND 252i
The original 3-in-1 portable, integrated MIG, Stick and TIG welding
systems (sold under the Thermal Arc and Tweco brands) are now
rebranded as the ESAB Fabricator Series. Look for these ESAB
products in the classic yellow trade dress starting this summer.

Atom Arc 7018 Acclaim takes the low-hydrogen,
iron-powder covered electrode to a new level. It
offers the same drive and dig that made Atom
Arc the industry standard, but now with improved
puddle control for easier out-of-position welding.
It also offers better arc starts and restrikes, as
well as easier slag removal.
Whether you’re a professional or a novice, we think
you’ll find that the Atom Arc 7018 Acclaim is the
most user-friendly 7018 electrode available — but
don’t take our word for it.

I have put on about 50 well heads with not one problem. The Acclaim rod definitely has its place on a drilling rig.
Because of the versatility of the rod, the flow is smooth and I am able to weld in various positions making my railing and grate repair job a snap.
It burns better than other rods I’ve used and leaves a prettier bead. I love the ESAB 7018 Acclaim. It will be the only rod I buy from now on.

12 // ESAB LAUNCHES “PURUS” MIG WIRE
In robotic and high volume semi-automatic MIG operations,
you can easily monetize the results of switching to Purus.
By only changing wires, you can:
Reduce or eliminate downtime for removing silica islands in
multi-pass welding.
Reduce post-weld cleaning time and unplanned downtime.
Increase uptime between planned maintenance for removing
spatter from nozzles.
Reduce or eliminate paint-related quality issues.
Purus, which expands ESAB’s line of premium MIG wires,
will be available in North America beginning this fall.
Micro-alloyed for Perfection
What results should the “perfect welding wire” give to improve your welding operations? Two years ago, ESAB put forth this
exact question to welding, production and manufacturing
engineers on four continents. With excellent weld integrity as
a prerequisite, the voice of our customers was clear: give us
a MIG wire that eliminates rework.
Driven to achieve this goal, ESAB enhanced wire metallurgy to
reduce formation of silica islands. With Purus, slag self-releases
or easily brushes off. In addition, Purus features an innovative
coating technology that stabilizes the welding process, provides
superior arc stability and minimizes spatter.
Combined, the characteristics of Purus create a winning formula
for maximum uptime, improved quality and lower part cost.
