“Grace Notes”

Pastor Jeff Levy

A few weeks ago I heard a weather report that said

Pennsylvania needs a lot of rain and that our water tables

were getting low. So I prayed for rain and sure enough

my prayers were answered when we received a good

dousing of what I sometimes call “liquid gold.”

Following the storm, I could almost hear the flowers and

the trees saying, “Ahhhh!” as those life-giving, life-

sustaining drops from heaven replenished some of God’s

most beautiful creations.

Friends, as we head into the summer months where

vacations and sports camps can sometimes replace our

time with God, remain committed to praising and

worshipping God each Sunday; for it’s in the praising of

God and in the worshipping of God that we are provided

the living water of Christian fellowship and God’s Word

which will replenish our souls for the challenges of daily

living.

So enjoy these beautiful days ahead, stay safe, and

let’s continue to worship God together, remembering in

our hearts King David’s words, “I have seen You in the

sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory…My

soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with

singing lips my mouth will praise You!”

Blessings to you all!

From the Lay Leader

Summer Vacation It seems curious to me how" Summer Vacation", a term usually applied to a span of time between school sessions, also seems to apply to our churches. Choir practices and Bible studies are now ending, and will resume in Sept; Attendance and offerings are the lowest during the summer months; a couple of our committees meet only once during summertime, etc. Church life seems to 'slow down' during summer, doesn't it? Perhaps it's a good thing, knowing how many of us are involved in fund raising, meetings, music groups, etc. Perhaps we need a break to 'recharge our batteries'. Pastor Jeff related that the Safe Sanctuary training at our church on May 23rd went very well, and was well attended. Kudos to Sara Shoff, Pastor Jeff, and all the others involved in making this important training a success. Your prayers and support for this years mission trip would be appreciated. We will be heading to Onancock, Va. this year to help the community there. Onancock is located on the lower end of the Delmarva peninsula, and we will be there from July 12 to July 17th. More info will be in your weekly bulletins. There will now be a 3 month pause before my next article. In the meantime, enjoy the beauty and fragrance of summer flowers, splash in the water a bit, and enjoy all of Gods great creation! Until next time..God Bless. Dan Schilling

North Pocono Food Pantry

April 27, 2015

Dear Faith Friends,

Thank you for participating in the

ecumenical Lent Services. The donations made

throughout the Lenten season were a huge help

to the North Pocono Food Pantry. A total of

$1, 752 was collected from the five services

held during Lent. The Food Pantry and Dry

Pantry each received $876.00.

The donations received from the

Ministerium, civic groups and concerned

individuals made it possible to purchase an

Easter ham and eggs for the children to

decorate this year.

We would also like to say thank you for

all of the food collected and donated to the

pantry on a regular basis. Every can or box of

food finds its way to a North Pocono family in

need. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

They are used to purchase items that are in

short supply such as, peanut butter, jelly, beef

stew, fruit, and ravioli.

Summer is a difficult time for our

families with school age children. Parents must

provide an extra bag of food filled with

breakfast, lunch and snack items for the

children. St. Eulalias youth group went above

and beyond in 2014. Their youth group

collected and packed enough snack bags for

the month of July. With your help we hope to

continue the Kid Bag Program again this

summer. Items needed are: Cereal,

breakfast bars, pop tarts, soup, mac and

cheese, canned pasta, canned fruit, fruit

cups, cheese crackers, fruit snacks, and juice

boxes.

Bless you for your continued support of

the North Pocono Food Pantry and the families

we serve.

Sincerely,

Beth Czulada

Rosemary Serena

~More News/Events~

As we move into the summer months, we ask that you

continue to support the church by keeping your pledge up

to date. Even though vacations, family reunions and other

activities may periodically disrupt your regular attendance

at church, we need your financial help now as much as ever. Thanks so much!

MUMC Preschool Information: Changes coming next year to the MUMC

Preschool schedule! It has come to our attention that parents are expressing an interest in a 5-day Pre-Kindergarten class (4/5 years-olds)

and a 3-day Nursery class (3 year-olds) option. So after much consideration, we have decided

to make changes to next years’ schedules. Starting in the Fall of 2015, the Pre-K class will run Monday through Friday mornings 9-11:30. There will be a 3-day option for those who are

not interested in the 5-day Pre-K. Nursery class will run Mon-Wed-Fri afternoons 12-2. Tuition is tentatively set at $1,000/semester for the 5-

day Pre-K option and $675 for the 3-day Nursery class.

Parent-Child Funtime Workshop (Mommy and Me) Class will remain on Thursdays, from

12-1 with no change in tuition. If interested, please contact Jeannie Garubba at

the Preschool at 570-842-6800 or at [email protected]

Unison Prayer

Lord, show us the headlines and the fine print; make them clear to us. Our heads are filled with the worries of the

day. Our lives are restless with the changing of the times. We are tempted to think that we are caught in the web of circumstances and that there is no hope – and we despair!

Show us the news, the bold print, and make it clear. Help

us to rise above the worries of the day and in the fine print to know you are with us and the world. Transcend war

and violence and generation gaps. Make the stranger like a sister or a brother, the widow like a mother, the convict

like a son, and the hero like a neighbor.

Take us into the world in the laws we pass, in the rumors we stop, in the risks we take, in the convictions we show,

in the issues we face, the lives we save, the sins we confess, and in the creeds we act upon. Lord, show us the headlines of our world, and lead us to Christ in all these

places, that we may know his way and follow it and always help us to be filled with hospitality, compassion

and peace, in our Master’s holy name.

Amen.
