Registration: Registration can be done on-line or in person. One emergency packet is required for each child and must be completed and turned in the same day as you register. A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit is due for each week of camp you are reserving at the time of registration.

Camp Payments: Payments must be made in full 7 days prior to the start of each camp week. If payment is not made in full 7 days prior to the start of each camp week, you will be charged a $10 late fee.

Summer Day Camp is a super-lively, full-day enrichment program focused on quality, age-appropriate activities, safety and fun! Campers will experience new discoveries, develop new skills, and make new friends along the way. Kids stay motivated and are encouraged to make good choices by exercising independent thinking.

Kids will learn new things while they make friends and have fun along the way. COUNSELOR IN TRAINING: At the Y, we help youth set and achieve their personal and educational goals. They gain confidence as they recognize the Y as a place where they belong and can feel comfortable exploring new interests and passions. A unique program designed especially for teenagers and a careful balance of program components has been created to foster creativity, adventure, peer interaction, leadership skills, values clarification and friendships that will last a lifetime.

SUMMER OF SERVICE: Students participate in a variety of service-learning activities like organizing canned food drives, serving other members of the local community raising awareness, and discovering the inner compassion and motivation to help improve both the local & global community!

We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That's why, through Teen Camp, youth today are cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. SPECIALTY CAMP OPTIONSWEEK 1 ARTRAGEOUS: Get creative, get messy and have fun creating art! Explore and experiment with a variety of art mediums and activities. Be prepared to explore art in different forms and create masterpieces of your own.

LEGOMANIA: We love Legos! Campers will spend at least three hours a day building towers, mazes, bridges and testing their minds and imaginations with each new adventure. There will also be free-play time each day.

WEEK 2 BEADS & HANDI-CRAFTS: Get creative and learn how to make a variety of crafts. Tie-dye a t-shirt, learn what boondoggle is, stamp a leather key chain, and use beads for more than just jewelry (maybe a suncatcher, or to design a creature)! Leather, beads, baskets, and more are just some of the materials you'll use to make creative crafts in this custom camp.

CHESS: Checkmate! Have you ever been stumped with how the chess pieces move? Have no fear! Chess camp will teach you the basics. Chess players will learn the different chess pieces and how they work. Players learn basic strategies and good sportsmanship.

WEEK 3 SLIME TIME AND GROSSOLOGY: Goop rules! Young mad scientists get down and dirty creating concoctions and potions and gurgling subtances-some of them edible, some too icky to even think about eating.

DANCING AT THE Y: Think you have all the right moves? Come join us as we boogie down to the latest beats all while preparing for our Friday dance showcase.

WEEK 4 DELICIOUS DELIGHTS: Campers really get cooking in this introduction to the culinary arts where they learn to create fun things that you can eat! Incorporating cleanliness, nutrition, cooking terms, measuring, helping, creating, sharing and EATING, this camp allows children to become little chefs. From chopping up to cleaning up, it's all food for thought. Please send campers in appropriate clothing or an apron that allows for freedom of expression.

MAD SCIENTIST: Join us on a wacky adventure through all kinds of cool and crazy chemical reactions. Use chemicals to make slippery slime and watch colors separate before your eyes! Find out how to make volcanoes erupt, what oobleck is, how to make gak and more! Add in messy games and activities, creating a slimy, grimy, goopy and magical experience. Appeared in Alexandria under Specialty

WEEK 5 HERE'S TO ME (GIRLS' SELF-ESTEEM BUILDING): This camp allows girls to be girls and experience a full range of specialty activities-arts and crafts, group games, science and more. The fundamental goal of this program is to have each girl realize they can achieve their objective with a positive outlook. By interacting with others and learning a variety of tasks and skills, inevitably they will develop a stronger self-image. A series of hands-on problem solving activities including challenge course obstacles, "trust games" and creative projects will promote confidence and achievement.

WIZARDS OF THE Y: Campers will be transformed into wizards for the week. They will get to make their own magic wands, play group games, learn magic tricks and make wizard crafts.

WEEK 6 TREASURE ISLAND: Argh YMCA mateys! Come walk the plank onto me pirate ship! Have some swashbuckling pirate fun with a canon ball toss, stranded island obstacle course, crocodile hunt and more!

LEGOMANIA: We love Legos! Campers will spend at least three hours a day building towers, mazes, bridges and testing their minds and imaginations with each new adventure. There will also be free-play time each day.

WEEK 7 SPACE CAMP: If you are an outer space fan this camp is for you. We will be exploring our galaxy as well as imagining other galaxies. Activities will vary, but may include special space games, launching rockets, designing solar systems, mapping our solar system, etc.

UNDER THE BIG TOP: Come one, come all, to our circus under the big top! Clown around with us as we enjoy life under the big top learning about our favorite circus animals in art and hands-on projects. Join this wild and wacky circus troupe. Learn magic, funny tricks, learn about circus animals, arts & crafts and the science of what makes the circus fun.

WEEK 8 CHEERLEADING: Campers will learn cheers, limited tumbling techniques, and dance routines. We’ll also work together to create a routine and visit some of the other camps to show off our cheers!

WACKY SCIENCE: This camp is designed for exciting fun hands-on science activities. Your child will become a junior scientist for the week, having the opportunity to experience a variety of science adventures. Children will design, create, build and assemble a variety of interesting projects.

SPORTS CAMP OPTIONS All Camps will be broken down each day by ages to ensure all play is fair and fun.

Soccer (Week 1 & Week 5): Our soccer camps emphasize basic to advanced skills instruction and practice in the areas of shooting, ball control, passing and defense. Campers will learn the rules of soccer as well as team concepts and sportsmanship. This camp is ideal for any youth soccer player looking to improve their soccer skills, or a player who wants to learn the fundamentals of soccer.

Basketball (Week 2 & Week 7): Camp will focus on shooting form, ball handling skills, defensive fundamentals, and in game situations. Campers will compete and focus on developing a team mindset and understand the rules of the game. Each day campers will be taught basic basketball skills and instruction, then implement these skills in a game setting.

Baseball (Week 3): This camp is designed develop and improve the skills of players from “rookies” to “veterans” in an atmosphere of good sportsmanship and fun! Players will practice the basics and learn new skills. Get ready to “Play Ball!” Campers must provide their own gloves. This camp is designed for children who are interested in learning how to play the game of baseball, or simply in fine tuning their skills. Included is instruction in the fundamentals of hitting, catching and fielding, as well as strategy in game like situations.

Flag Football (Week 4): Our flag football camp emphasizes basic to advanced skills instruction and practice in the areas of passing, receiving and defense. Campers will learn the rules of football as well as team concepts and sportsmanship. This camp is ideal for any youth flag football player looking to improve their football skills, or a player who wants to learn the fundamentals of flag football.

Floor Hockey (Week 6): This coed class instructs players in the skills and rules of hockey without any physical contact. Our focus is helping young children learn about themselves, their surroundings, their skills and the opportunities that sport and friendship bring.

Y World of Sports (Week 8): Lace up those sneakers, put on your shorts; it's time to have a ball with a super-fun assortment of popular sports. Campers will learn the fundamentals of a variety of different sports such as basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, baseball and more! Everyone plays and learns how to play like a team in this high-energy camp

POLICIESBEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL CARE REGISTRATION DATES/INFO Children participate in a balanced program of open play and structured activities while being supervised by well-trained and caring staff.

Children get involved in a variety of learning activities in addition to program components such as, recreation, health enhancement, arts and humanities, nutritional snacks, character development, and homework assistance. YMCA School Age programs ensure that children are given a unique mix of activities that focus on developmental assets, the building blocks that teach children how to make positive and intelligent decisions throughout life.

Registration begins May 18th for members, and June 1st for non-members. Registration must be done in person at the Lake View YMCA.

FEES, TRANSFERS, CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS For all camps, a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit per week must be paid for each week you register your child(ren). This is credited toward your camp fees. The balance of your fee is due 7 days prior to each scheduled week of camp. If payment in full is not made 7 days prior to the start of each camp week, you will be charged a $10 late fee.

Transfers will be accommodated only if there is space available in the week you would like to transfer to. Cancellations will forfeit the non-refundable, non-transferable deposit. Refunds will be issued with a doctor's note. Refunds will not be issued for individual days missed.

SCHOLARSHIPS With the YMCA, everyone can afford to keep their kids healthy and safe this summer!

Scholarships are available for those needing help to pay for camp through Action for Children. If you qualify, Action for Children assistance can be applied for all weeks of summer camp. Applications for assistance through Action for Children may be picked up at the Member Service Desk. You may also contact Action for Children directly at 312.823.1100 or by visiting www.actforchildren.org

Action For Children is state provided assistance. You do not have to be a YMCA member to qualify.

If you do not qualify or were denied funds through Action for Children, you may apply for funds through the Lake View YMCA. Lake View has scholarships available through our Annual Campaign, which is supported by donations and gifts from staff, members and the community. YMCA Scholarship forms are available at the Member Services Desk. Assistance is based on annual income, family size, and supporting documentation.

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit per week is required to hold your child's spot in camp, even if you have applied for Action for Children or a YMCA Scholarship. This deposit may be applied to your co-pay. For more information on financial assistance or scholarships, contact us at 773.248.3333.

THIRD PARTY PAYMENTS When Action for Children or Y scholarships are utilized for third party payments by camp families, approval must be received PRIOR to a camper's starting the program or the family will have to pay the camp fee in full.

LIABILITY STATEMENT The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago does not carry medical, accident, or loss of personal property insurance for any program participants, due to the fact that it would drastically increase the cost of our program fees. Please review the insurance policies that protect you and your family to be certain that proper coverage is in place.

2016 YMCA Summer Overnight Camp

FUN & ADVENTURE START HERELooking for an overnight, resident camp experience for your child or your family this summer? The YMCA of Metro Chicago has five resident camp options in beautiful pristine areas sure to provide special memories to last a lifetime.

YMCA Camp DuncanSince 1921, Camp Duncan has provided safe, quality camping programs for boys and girls ages 7 to 15 and Teen Adventure Camps for 15 to 17 year olds. All activities are geared to the developmental level of the campers. Camp Duncan is a co-ed, summer resident camp located near Fox Lake, Illinois, on 300 acres.

YMCA Camp MacLeanCamp MacLean is located just two miles east of Burlington, Wisconsin, just 20 minutes from Lake Geneva, on 247 acres of woods and grassland property. The camp offers fun and challenging activities such as swimming, climbing, boating, kayaking, archery, hiking, and much more. We also leave room for plenty of traditional programs, including sing-alongs, campfires and campouts.

YMCA Camp PinewoodTraditional but up-to-date, Camp Pinewood features 16 cabins on a private, spring-fed lake, with every activity from sailing to horseback riding. The camp is nestled in the heart of the Manistee National Forest near Muskegon, Michigan. It’s convenient but remote enough to ensure that everyone enjoys the natural beauty of the camp’s 200-acre facility.

YMCA Family Camp NawakwaFamily Camp Nawakwa offers a unique experience- an opportunity to bring together whole families, not just children, through camping. The camp sits on 180 acres of pristine forest lands, and includes wetlands and lakes with abundant wildlife. The camp is nestled in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin, which is home to the Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians.

YMCA Camp IndependenceCamp Independence is a special place for campers age seven and up with spina bifida. At camp, kids become a community as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group. We teach self-reliance, a love for nature, and the development of attitudes and practices that build character. Our counselors are dedicated to making sure camp is an amazing experience for every camper.
