2018 SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION

Traditional CampsElizabeth Traditional, Elizabeth Lane & Idlewild

Traditional camps offer weekly theme-based activities along with fun-filled field trips. Campers will have the opportunity to explore daily outdoor fun, hands-on activities, center activities and tons of summer camp fun! This summer, Elizabeth Traditional, Elizabeth Lane and Idlewild will offer a 7-week session of special programming. These extended series classes will not be offered the week of July 2 – July 6 due to the July 4th holiday.

ELIZABETH LANE & IDLEWILDKARATE EVERY THURSDAYThese classes cover basic level kicks (snaps and thrusts), blocks (high and low) and strikes. The students will only kick and strike with the instructor on an individual basis using kicking pads. This increases eye/foot coordination and balance skills. The campers will be introduced to jumping kicks. Focus and concentration will be stressed as we introduce stances and moves. A game of dodge ball using small round pillows (which are very soft and very safe) is played at the end of the class. This teaches evasion and eye/body coordination.

• Children who attend all 6 weeks of classes can test for a belt the last week of classes offered or receive a trophy.

• Classes will be offered Thursdays: June 21, 28; July 12, 19, 26; and August 2.

ELIZABETH TRADITIONAL-BETTER BODIES 4 US VISITS“FITNESS CHALLENGE” EVERY THURSDAYThe students will complete Fitness Challenges that include activities such as Solo Aerobic Fitness, Partner Aerobic Fitness, and Body Composition BINGO, just to name a few challenges. Each activity will challenge the campers’ physical skills, while maintaining health-promoting, moderate-to-vigorous, enjoyable physical activity during class. The overall goal of Better Bodies 4 Us Youth Challenge is to encourage our community to start moving together in order to combat this obesity epidemic.

• Classes will be offered Thursdays: June 21, 28; July 12, 19, 26; and August 2.

2018 SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools

2018 After School Enrichment Program Summer CampsDiscipline and Behavior Management Policy

Disruptive behavior in the After School Enrichment Program Summer Camp makes it difficult to provide appropriate supervision of your child. Therefore any student who repeatedly disobeys the rules will be referred to the Camp Director.

The discipline procedure will be as follows:1. The first referral will result in a conference among the Camp Counselor, Camp Director and the child. The Camp Counselor will write a note explaining the disruptive behavior and the action that was taken to try to stop the inappropriate behavior. A verbal contract with the child will be reached and the parent will be informed about the incident and agreement.

2. After the second written referral, the Camp Director will call the parent. The behavior of the child will be discussed and the parent will be asked to participate in resolving the problem.

3. If a third referral is necessary, the parent will be called by the Camp Director, and a conference scheduled. Depending on the severity of the situation, the child may or may not remain in the program until a conference is held and a decision is reached.

4. After the conference, the ASEP Director will determine whether or not the child’s behavior will result in exclusion from After School Enrichment Program Summer Camp.

5. If a child is excluded s/he might not be considered for re-enrollment.

I the undersigned parent/guardian of__________________________, do hereby affirm that I have read and received a copy of the Child’s Name

After School Enrichment Program Summer Camp Discipline and Behavior Management Policy, the Family Guidelines and the Summary of the North Carolina Child Care Law for Child Care Centers; and that the Camp Director (or other designated staff member) has discussed any questions I had about the Discipline and Behavior Management Policy, Family Guidelines and Summary of the North Carolina Child Care Law for Child Care Centers with me.
