    Zagreb, Croatia and supported by Curaprox

    We are pleased to invite you to attend the Curaprox Dental Summer Camp 2012 taking place in Split,,

    Croatia between the 20th and 26th August 2012.

    As part of this camp you will have chance to participate in workshops, attend lectures, visit touristic

    sites and enjoy numerous social activities.

    In this brochure you will find more information about the city, accommodation, lectures and

    workshops, food, social activities and tourist offer.

    City of Split

    Split is located in the warmest part of the northern Mediterranean coast, in the very centre of theAdriatic coast. The rich offer for tourists as well as the unique cultural heritage and tourist events givesSplit its special charm and makes it an ideal holiday destination throughout the year. Dalmatia region ischaracterised by the highest number of sunny days that on some of the islands and along the deepsouthern coast number as many as 315 a year.

    Split is the economic and administrative center of Middle Dalmatia, with about 200,000 inhabitants and

    the jumping-off point for exploration of the coast and islands of the beautiful Croatian Adriatic. Split isalso a university seat and host to numerous scientific institutions.

    The site was first settled when, at the end of the third century AD, the Roman Emperor Diocletian builthis palace here. Many of Split's historical and cultural buildings can be found within the walls of UNESCOprotected Diocletian's Palace. In addition, numerous museums, the National Theatre, and old churchesand other archeological sites in the Split region make it an important cultural attraction.

    Marjan hill, a forest park near the city offers a comfortable and quiet atmosphere and a walk far fromthe town noise.

    Central Split is quite compact and most sights can be easily seen and best experienced on foot, but thereare frequent local buses to outlying attractions and the airport.

    By Plane

    Split Airport (IATA:SPU) (ICAO:LDSP)http://www.split-airport.hr/is, after Zagreb Airport, the mostimportant in Croatia. Scheduled services fly to major European cities, with summer charter flights frommore. The airport is about 25 km west from Split, near the city of Trogir. It has free WiFi internet. Airportbuses run from the terminal to the city and stop at the eastern end of 'Riva'. A single ticket costs 30 kn.Local buses run from the road outside the terminal -- walk through the parking lot and go to the bus stop

    on the other side of the road. A taxi to Split Ferry port takes a bit over 30 min and cost between350 - 270 kn, on the meter.

    By Train

    Split train station is right in the city centre, it is a few minutes walk from the port and from the old town.

    Trains run between Split and Croatian capital Zagreb. Timetables can be found from CroatianRailways website www.hznet.hr

    By Bus

    Frequent buses run to and from Zagreb, Dubrovnik, ibenik, Zadra, Rijeka and from Bosnia andHerzegovina. Local buses run to and from Trogir and Solin.

    By Boat

    Ferries run three times a week across the Adriatic to and from Ancona and Pescara (Italy). Splitis the main hub for local boats and hydrofoils in Central Dalmatia. Several a day run to and fromnearby islands. www.jadrolinija.hr

    Accommodation

    Camp Attendees will be accommodated at Hostel Spinut, located at the foot of the green Marjan Hill, a5-minute walk from a pebble beach and a 15-minute walk from Diocletian's Palace.

    The restaurant and the caf serve international and Croatian cuisine and a wide range of drinks. Wi-Fi isavailable free of charge in the public areas.

    Football and basketball courts, as well as ping-pong tables can be found on site. Free parking is available.

    Split's Bacvice beach and the ferry port can be reached on foot within 30 minutes.

    Rooms: shared (2 or 3 persons)In the registration form you will have chance to inform us about your preferred roommate.

    Dalmatian cusine in Split restaurants is one of the most healthiest in the World. Quality and fresh seafish, shells or meat specialities combined with fresh vegetables and popular black Mediteranean wineslike merlot, cabarnet, plavac, dingac, postup and quality white wines like malvazija, posip, pinot,vugava...

    Trips to islands

    As part of the summer camp programme trips to the islands of Vis, Bievo and Hvar are organised . Tripsare included in the registration fee.

    Vis island

    Vis is the most outerly lying larger Croatian island in the Adriatic Sea, an island of unspoiled beauty . It isrich in citrus fruits, palm trees and fishing and diving areas. Camp attendees will have opportunity tovisit one of the towns on the island as well as Stiniva beach.

    Bievo island

    The small island (5.8 sq. kilometres) about fivekilometres south west from Vis. There are a few caveson the island, out of which Modra pilja (Blue cave) isthe most famous.

    Hvar island

    Hvar is the longest island in the Adriatic. This is an island of vineyards, olive groves and lavender.

    The night life in Hvar during summer months is described as the best on the Adriatic."

    After an exhausting day of sun-bathing and swimming guests numerous cultural events arehappening in the city: performances, exhibits and concerts that are a part of Hvars summergames. Also the open cinema in Venerada is very popular.

    As the night falls, people start to meet around numerous bars and hotel terraces with music andto spread around towards the most popular discos. Fun lasts all night long.
