Dear Friends,

A young friend received a beginner’s kayak for Christmas this year. This is a gift that will draw him outside and into God’s creation this summer. It enables a hobby and activity that has many good outcomes, and it teaches positive skills that he can enjoy for a lifetime. Why did he ask for a kayak over any number of other typical gifts teenagers asked for this Christmas? Because of the camping and wilderness experiences he has enjoyed the last several summers.

One of the outcomes of Christian summer camp experiences is that young people learn skills that they can use for a lifetime. Many of these skills have to do with enjoying God’s creation: canoeing, kayaking, camping out, cooking over a fire, or backpacking in the wilderness. Young people also practice and learn skills for life: how to read and understand the Bible, how Jesus wants us to live as Christians, how faith can permeate every moment of our living.

Church camp changes lives. In a world that can be too violent and too enamored with temporal possessions, we teach and model an alternative way of living—the way of Christ. Join us for a fun and life changing summer church camp experience!

In Christ,Jim Parkhurst

“ What a great opportunity for the youth to experience a great adventure like Grand Island! The experience has positively impacted his overall wellbeing and self-image.

“ My son attended last year and loved it so much he asked to go back. I sometimes think it is hard to find interesting camps for high school students. His counselors were good with this age -- and great male role models. My son loved being outside and the physical ac-tive-ness of this camp. Thanks!

“ We were thrilled to know that she felt so accepted by other campers and overall she loved the experience and plans to re-turn next year. I will also be an advocate at our church to get other kids to attend next year.

“ Thanks so much for Kinawind camp teaching and activities! Your camp and it’s leaders strengthened my child’s knowl-edge of the Bible and furthered her faith formation!

“ Our son was 7 at the time of camp and has only had sleep overs with grandparents on a very limited basis (average 2 nights from parents a year). This was a GREAT experience. Perfect length of time to help encourage his interest in a full week camp as he gets older. We hope Mini Camp will be offered just like this next year. We’d sign up now if we could.

the horses, I think this was a huge confidence builder, even though she isn’t afraid to go away from home for a few days, this was a totally ‘unknown’ for her. She talked about how she wasn’t comfort-able at first, but then after the first day, she was fine.
