Cartooning & Humorous IllustrationComic illustration is a significant part of the entertainment business—from newspaper comix to television series to major motion pictures. This course presents a unique opportunity for young art enthusiasts to study with acclaimed designer, Bill Teitelbaum, co-creator of the Pink Panther Comic Strip for MGM. Students will learn key aspects of drawing and designing original characters, and how to get started in this exciting field.

Step by step lessons cover ink, brush, watercolor, collage, and more. In-class activities include visual storytelling, panel layout, composition, inking and coloring. A highlight of the class will be designing your own original cartoon character applicable for use in video games, comic books or animation.

All drawing materials for in-class use provided.

Special Guest Co-creator of the “Pink Panther Comic Strip,” Eric Teitelbaum will conduct a special in-class workshop on how to design original characters. Students will get a firsthand look at how characters are created... and why they are so important in the visual interpretation of story lines. Students will also get a chance to put pen to paper and design one of their own.
