About the Work-Life OfficeThe University of Kentucky wants employees to succeed both professionally and personally. The Work-Life Office is here to support employees through programs, services, and events to help meet those goals. How We HelpIndividual and Family Counseling: We are a voluntary, confidential UK benefit offering free and reduced-fee counseling with licensed therapists for faculty, staff and their families. All faculty, regular employees (FTE 0.50 or greater), spouses, sponsored dependents, unmarried children up to the age of 26 (or older if disabled before the age of 26), and UK retirees are eligible for up to five free sessions. Additionally, we offer workshops for supervisors anddepartments on topics ranging from managing stress to processing grief to helping prevent suicide.

Elder Care: University of Kentucky Elder Care is a free employee benefit established to support regular full-time and part-time UK faculty, staff, retirees, and their spousesnationwide who help their parents, spouses and other older family members. Our staff can assist by providing information, consultation, guidance, referrals, and by helping caregivers to plan ahead. We offer monthly Lunch ‘n Learns on topics ranging from “Elder Law and Caregiving” to “Caring for Someone with Dementia.”

Awesome, Inc. U - #Week of Code $www.awesomeincu.comInstead of your kids spending their free time playing apps, what if they spent it learning to write them? This camp, for middle and high school students, will teach the fundamentals of coding. Students will create websites, mobile apps and learn to design video games all while having fun with our energetic team. By the end of the week, each student will have built at least one web page, mobile app, and video game using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Android, and Unity 3D. Each week will incorporate a theme to target various skills, including building vocabulary, grammatical concepts, literacy skills, and phonological processes. Using both group and individual activities, this is a great way for your child to stay on track with their speech and language skills. Kids will expand their abilities and deepen their understanding about how digital video technology functions in the world around them while they make their own videos and tell stories and express ideas. Video/Game Camp is a place for kids to learn about and explore video games as a way to tell stories and express ideas. During this camp, kids will expand abilities and deepen their understanding about how video game technology functions in the world around them. Campers will play games, make videos about them, and create their own games. Downtime activities such as crafts and free swim break up the day, especially on hot summer days. The camp is geared for children looking for experience in a wide variety of sports and activities. University of Kentucky Swim Camps$www.ukathletics.com/campsElite Camp swimmers will receive assessment of strokes, power, strength, and flexibility by the UK varsity swim staff. Camp includes two daily water sessions, dryland training, and educational lectures. The Starts & Turns Camp is designed to maximize the fine tuning process of racing starts and turns and is for more advanced swimmers. The Swim Camps I and II will consist of instruction, training, and fun and games in and out of the pool. Campers will increase their swimming skills and their love of the water through interactive water play.
