The Fort Mill Parks and Recreation Department and the Fort Mill High School boys basketball
team have partnered up to offer a youth basketball camp, led by head boys basketball coach,Dwayne Hartsoe. The camp will be held at Banks Street Gym (491 Academy Street). The
camp will focus on basketball fundamentals and age-appropriate skill development.

BEYOND THE CAMPFIRE-Springmaid Mountain Ages: 8-14
Revamped, innovated and inspiring, Beyond the Campfire is a one week summer resident camp
at Springmaid Mountain. Located in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, Beyond the Campfire is a
picturesque and unique setting for summer camp. Experience outdoor education, enrichment
and loads of laughter for boys and girls with programs ranging from hikes, camp fire building,
themed meals, team building, archery, fishing (catch & release), crafts, tubing on the Toe
River, camp songs, flag ceremony, swimming and more. A deposit of $100 must be paid when
registering. Parents are responsible for transportation. Remaining balance is due June 15.

BOB DOSTERS CLAY CAMP Ages 9 & up
What a great way to be introduced to clay! Bob Doster, a local artist known best for his metalwork and clay creations, will be hosting this fun filled camp. Campers will complete one clay
project each day from monster and head fish to coil and thrown pottery. Some projects will
be glazed and all will be fired. No special skills or materials required. Finished pieces can be
picked up the following week.

BROADWAY BOUND Ages 10-13This is a dance intensive for our junior dancers that wish to continue their practice over the
summer. Each day we will begin with a thorough warm up. Our day will be spent focusing on
strengthening muscles, perfecting alignment, learning technique, and exploring different styles
of dance. We will have 2-3 classes in different subjects each day. Guest artists will be brought
in to teach different genres. Eligible students must be able to execute a pirouette, Chane turns,
Grand jete, Time steps, Cincinnati, and attend at least 2 hours of dance per week. Exceptions
may be made in regard to age limitations; exceptions are left solely up to the instructors: Eddie

FOOTBALL CAMP-Nation Ford High School Ages 6-11 & Rising 6th -8th Graders
The Fort Mill Parks and Recreation Department and the Nation Ford Football coaching staff have
partnered to offer a youth football camp. The camp is a non-contact camp that will stress
fundamentals and proper techniques. Our primary objective will focus on quality instruction for
each and every player in a fun and structured environment. We will teach skills to make better
football players. We will stimulate a general interest in the game of football and promote the
concept of teamwork. This will include emphasis on a good work ethic, motivation, self-
discipline, and self-confidence. All campers will participate in offensive, defensive, and
specialty team drills implemented and directed by Falcons Head Coach Michael Allen. The
Falcon football staff and players will assist with running the camp. All campers will receive a t-
shirt. Proper attire will consist of shorts, t-shirt, and grass cleats. Water will be provided for allcampers. Please bring tennis shoes in the event of rain. Make sure to apply sunscreen prior to
coming. This camp will be held at Nation Ford High School.

FLYERS FULL DAY CAMP Ages 6-11Children will engage in activities that encourage creativity, social relationships, appropriate
behavior, and positive self-image. Each week there will be a different theme. Pick and choose
as many sessions as you want. Campers need to arrive no later than 9:30am. Space is limited
at each summer site. A $25 Non-Refundable Deposit is required to reserve a spot for your child

GIRLS SOFTBALL CAMP-Fort Mill High School Ages 8 14
The Fort Mill Parks and Recreation Department and the Fort Mill High School softball coaching
staff have partnered to offer a youth softball camp. This camp is run by Fort Mill High School

GOLF CAMP Ages: 5-14Hosted by Total Golf Adventures (TGA), this unique golf camp will teach the proper golf set-up,
swing fundamentals, and basic etiquette of the game in a fun and enjoyable environment. In
addition, our Play the Fair Way with TGA Character Development Initiative ensures that
students learn values in TGAs program that will positively impact their lives on and off the

JR. POLICE CAMP Ages 8-13
Aspiring young police officers can register to attend the weeklong Jr. Police Camp held by Fort
Mill Police Officer and School Resource Officer, David Bivins. The purpose of the Jr. Police Campis to provide law enforcement education for future outstanding citizens. We focus on team
building, leadership, conflict resolution, character education, physical fitness, and juvenile law
and police procedures such as fingerprinting and evidence collection. Each camper isresponsible for bringing a bag lunch each day of camp. There are a maximum number of 20
campers per session, so register early. Deadline for camp registration is seven days prior to
camp starting; one session only please. This camp is open to those children enrolled in the
Fort Mill School system.

MAD SCIENCE: RADICAL ROBOTS New Content! Ages 8-12From sound sensing to complex, programmable robots, this camp will teach engineers-in-
training how robots work and how they are used in the world around them. Campers will
discover the science of electronic circuits and how robots use sensors to control their
movements and explore their environment. They will work together to build a life size kinetics
robot to help understand the insides of a robot. Young scientists will get creative when
building a model robot and construct their own working robot to take home and show off to
their friends and family!

This action packed week will focus solely on rockets and the physics of rocket flight. Young
rocket scientists will build multiple designs and participate in daily launches. After learning the
model rocket safety code, they will prepare for launches, perform the role of altitude trackers
and launch rockets propelled by water and solid fuel engines. Hands-on activities will get their

MAD SCIENCE: INCREDIBLE FLYING MACHINES Ages 7-11
Conquer the forces of nature as we experiment with numerous flying machines. Follow thedevelopment of aeronautics from Leonardo da Vinci to the Wright Brothers as we experiment
with the principles of flight! Campers will construct different airplanes then test their designs in
a wind tunnel. Over the course of the week, junior test pilots will launch a variety of flying
machines including; balloon copters, a hovercraft, paper airplanes, kites, Frisbees, parachutes,
a solar bag, stomp rockets, solid fuel rockets and more! You are cleared for takeoff!

Join us this summer for art classes with Jett Buskirk. Learn basic elements and principles of

MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMP-ASC Greenway Ages: 9-14Come join the new era. Learn new technical riding skills or just gain more confidence on the
bike while riding trails. Mountain biking is a sport where self-esteem is gained and adrenalin
runs free. These camps are geared for boys and girls between the ages of 9-14. Your child must
already know how to ride a bike. Camp will run Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday
and Wednesday camp will run 9:00am-1:00, Thursday camp will run from 9:00am 5:00pm
with your child bringing his/her bathing suit, towel and for well bike to the Recreation Complex,

TEEN INTENSIVE DANCE CAMP Ages 14-18
This is a dance intensive for our dancers that wish to continue their practice over the summer.
Each day we will begin with a thorough warm up. Our day will be spent focusing on
strengthening muscles, perfecting alignment, learning technique, and exploring different styles
of dance. We will have 2-3 classes in different subjects each day. Guest artists will be broughtin to teach different genres. Eligible students must be able to execute a pirouette, Chane turns,
Grand jete, Time steps, Cincinnati, and attend at least 2 hours of dance per week. Exceptions

TENNIS CAMPS Ages 3-18Fort Mill Parks and Recreation is partnering with Absolute Tennis. The tennis camp is designed
for beginners through advanced juniors, ages 3-18, who are interested in learning the
fundamentals of tennis and taking their game to a higher level. Campers ages 3-5 will meet
from 9:00am-1:00pm only. Campers ages 3 -18 will sign up for sessions that run from
9:00am until 1:00, 3:00 or 5:00pm. Please bring your lunch Monday through Friday.

WHERE THE WILD THINGS REALLY ARE-ASC Greenway Ages: 5 & 6
Come along and really explore the secret world of the Greenway animals and other flying
things. An experienced and knowledgeable preschool staff will lead the preschoolers throughhands on projects, crafts and related stories. We will meet at the Nature Center on the Anne
Springs Close Greenway and will spend most of our time outdoors exploring the natural habitat.
Camp is open to children who will be entering Kindergarten or 1st Grade in August 2012. Each
camp session will have different activities. Campers need to bring a healthy snack each day.

PAYMENT AND CANCELLATION POLICY FOR CAMPS
Reservations for camps are made in person at the Recreation Complex on the Greenway. Full
payment is due at the time of application by cash, check, or credit card. Checks should bemade payable to Leroy Springs & Co., Inc. (LSC) or Anne Springs Close Greenway (ASCG).
There is a $30 fee (or maximum allowed) on all returned checks.
Cancellations made prior to the start of camp will receive a refund minus a $25
cancellation fee.
Transfers from one camp to another (with the exception of FLYERS) may be done two weeks in
advance with a $9 Service Fee. FLYERS Summer Sessions, Equestrian Day Camp and
Springmaid Mountain Camps have a non-refundable $25 deposit for each registered session.
Once camp has begun, no refunds are available for any reason. Registration is on a first come,first served basis. To receive the member rate, memberships with the Complex must stay
current through the completion of camp.
