CLUB INFORMATION

Lichfield Camera Club was formed in 1946 and has long been established as a thriving and successful club. We pride ourselves on being a friendly club, and welcome visitors and new members of all abilities, from professional photographers to people just starting on their photographic journey. Our programme is a variety of presentations by visiting experts and competitions. The presentations are a mix of subjects with instruction included in some. We have internal competitions each season with the members divided into sections (advanced and beginner/intermediate). We also have external competitions with other local clubs (including Limburg, our German Twin town) We compete in national inter-club competitions and some of our members enter international competitions. In addition, we have tuition evenings, as needs demand; covering such things like Photoshop, printing and mounting, image clinic and much more. We also try to include social events throughout the year, including photo-trips during the summer months; plus at Christmas, a very successful Christmas meal and pub-style quiz. We have in the recent past been involved in various projects including the Mayor’s Christmas Card and the Cathedral Project; this latter involving the taking of 3,500 images by club members over a 12 month period covering every single event in the life of the Cathedral. Commissioned by the Cathedral for their own use, they act as a library from which images can be taken for numerous purposes. In addition, we have worked with the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust photographing all of their reserves throughout the seasons. This involved a large number of members and proved to be a very interesting project, with the Trust gaining over 2,000 images for use in their literature for promotional and information purposes. Working alongside Blooming Lichfield, as part of the Lichfield in Bloom event, members took nearly 500 photographs; the end product being their calendar. In addition, we have also worked with the the British Woodcarvers Association, Lichfield & Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust and a number of local churches. The club has around 50 members with the average attendance of over 30 people. Visitors are always very welcome (£3.50 on the night) – with no obligation and no limit to the number of times they may attend as a visitor. Anyone interested in any aspect of photography is most welcome to attend any of our events

CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME

Thank you for taking the time to look at the Lichfield Camera Club's annual Summer Exhibition 2019.

We are indebted to Peter Gennard MFIAP, EFIAP/p for judging the entries to this exhibition and for presenting the awards. Many thanks to Tim Wayne and his helpers for all their hard work in organizing the exhibition

All of the images have been produced by members of Lichfield Camera Club using equipment ranging from DSLR’s to drones and compact cameras to phones. We have a wide range of abilities within the club from members who have been taking photographs for many years through to some who are just starting out on their photographic journey.

The club has a very varied programme of activities which runs each year from September to June on Wednesday evenings and which we hope will interest all abilities. These include exhibitions such as this, competitions within the club and with other clubs regionally, nationally and internationally. We also have a varied and interesting range of speakers and instructional evenings

Our club meetings are held at:

The Lichfield Methodist Centre, Backcester Lane, Lichfield WS13 6JH Every Wednesday night from 11th September to June : 7.30pm start. The entrance is at the rear of the building where there is plenty of free parking

Why not come along and join us in this fascinating hobby. Visitors and new members will always be given a very warm welcome.

I hope you enjoy your visit to the exhibition and trust you will find something to interest and inspire you. Please take a copy of our programme or contact me on 01543 276610 or 07970 869785 if you wish to know more about the club. You can also find more information on our web-site.
