What is Tech248 and why should you attend?
Tech248 helps tech companies
collaborate and attract, develop
and retain talent while
promoting Oakland County as
a global technology hub.
Oakland County has 2,000
tech firms with 42,000 jobs in
the tech field - more than twice
the number of any other county
in Michigan. This group of
companies includes:
Software Development, Network/Data, Health, Game
Development, Connected Cars, Digital Media, Mobile Technology,
Cyber Security and other evolving technologies.
58% of Metro Detroit' s IT/Tech companies are located in Oakland
County. Nearly 100 companies chose Oakland County in the last
ten years, investing over $586 million and creating more than
10,500 jobs in the community.
Tech248 brings all these people together at monthly Meetups
throughout the county. It is an excellent way to network, find talent
and stay on top of the latest trends in technology. The meetups
are held throughout Oakland County and free to attend. Join us at
the next Tech248 hosted by Waterford and Highland Township!
Thank you Waterford Businesses!
Every year the Waterford Beautification
Committee fundraises towards
community projects that will enhance
the brand and aesthetics of Waterford
Township. Many of the projects have
taken years of fundraising, especially
those that really make an impact on our corridors. We want to take
a moment to recognize and thank those businesses who are
participating in our 2017 Adopt -a- Planter Program and continue
to support the beautification efforts. The planters will be delivered
to the Chamber office on May 24th for pick-up by participants.

Waterford Area Chamber of CommerceSet to Participate in #ChamberChallenge17,
A Nationwide Competition to SupportU.S. Small Businesses During
National Small Business Week, April 30-May 6.
In a collective show of support for our area’s
local small businesses and entrepreneurs,
the Waterford Chamber will be participating
in the first ever Chamber Challenge — an
event sponsored by the National Chamber
Program. This event encourages chambers
around the country are challenged to visit
and promote as many of their local
businesses and members as they can.
Since 1963, National Small Business Week has been recognizing
the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small
business owners. While the U.S. Small Business Administration
hosts the official event and its offerings through the week, the
National Chamber Program created and scheduled the Chamber
Challenge as a way for chambers across the country to get involved
and show their encouragement for their members in a new, fun and
simple way.
“This is a great way to add a personal touch to our memberbusinesses and promote them through our social media,” saysPresident, David Meyer of Coffee Break Inc.
The rules of the game are simple: from Sunday, April 30 through
Saturday, May 6, the Waterford Area Chamber will visit member’s
businesses, take a picture of that visit and post it to their official
Facebook, Instagram or Twitter page using #ChamberChallenge17.
After the week is up, if they record the most #ChamberChallenge17
posts, they win. Beyond the event just being a competition, it’s a way
for smaller establishments to see support and gain more exposure
across social channels.
“We look forward to the challenge,” says Director Marie Hauswirth.“I wish we had a team big enough to visit every single memberbusiness because we certainly appreciate every one of them. Wehave an amazing business community.”
The Waterford Area Chamber was formed as a business
organization in 1998 and through the work of a group of dedicated
founding members became a Chamber of Commerce in 2004.
Today the Chamber services nearly 600 member businesses,
putting them in the forefront of our community and region, cultivating
leadership and supporting all efforts to make Waterford a premier
place to live, work, play, learn and conduct business.
