Dear Kiawah Island Club Members,

Greetings from Kiawah Island! On behalf of the entire KIC staff, we would like to welcome you to the 2015 Summer season. We are excited to share our programming with you, along with the return of the popular GoKids activities!

Enclosed you will find annual Club events, GoKiawah programming, and July 4 activities. We invite you to use this guide to plan your summer on Kiawah.

As always, please contact the Member Services Department if they can be of service prior to your arrival, as well during your stay on the Island. Full Moon Kayaking (CSQ Dock)Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 38:30 to 10:30 p.m.Bring family, friends, and your sense of adventure on this late-night kayak marsh tour. The full moon sets the scene for this thrilling new perspective of the Island and its surroundings. All equipment will be provided and children under the age of 13 will be assigned to a tandem kayak.

Cost is $49.00 for adults and $33.00 for children ages 6 to 12. Maximum of eight boats. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Member Services at 843.768.6120 or [email protected].

CSQ Golf Closed for AerificationWednesday, June 3 – Monday, June 15.Golf will resume normal play on Tuesday, June 16.

Fishing Kiawah with Captain Elliot Hillock (CSQ Dock) Wednesday, June 34:00 to 5:30 p.m. Join GoKiawah’s very own Captain Elliot Hillock as he offers a look at what various types of fish inhabit the waterways of Kiawah and how to catch them. This hands-on session is a great fit for the new or occasional fisherman looking for some good tips from the area’s top fish finder.

Member Mingle (RC) Friday, June 5 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Join us at the River Course for complimentary cocktails and a relaxing atmosphere where you can visit with old friends and meet new ones. No reservations necessary.

Jay Leno at the Performing Arts Center (CSQ) Friday, June 57:00 p.m.Acclaimed TV late night show host, admired stand-up comedian, best-selling children’s book author, much-in-demand corporate speaker, lovable TV and movie voice-over artist, pioneering car builder and mechanic, and philanthropist…it’s no wonder that Jay Leno is widely characterized

as “the hardest working man in show business.” Cost is $132.00 per person and includes show tickets in the orchestra section and transportation. Shuttle departs the Cassique Clubhouse promptly at 7:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to dine prior to departure. Excursion: Chef ’s Showcase Tour and Brunch (CSQ) Saturday, June 138:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.This tour showcases one of Charleston’s best chefs, Stephen Thompson from Prohibition and Charleston’s award-winning farmers market. Meet a local tour guide and chef as they lead you through the farmer’s market to choose the freshest ingredients the market has to offer to be incorporated in your brunch. You will continue to explore the market, and your guide will take the group on a walking tour. Meanwhile, the chef will prepare a multi-course meal utilizing the ingredients just purchased at the market, for a true farm-to-table experience in his reputable restaurant, Prohibition on King Street.

Tour includes market ingredients, non-alcoholic beverages, transportation, and private event with the chef at Prohibition. Cost per person is $75.00+ and event is limited. Fitness Excursion: Bendy Brewski and Brunch at Holy City Brewery (SP) Sunday, June 2810:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. GoKiawah invites you to experience new and trending exercise programs, plus outdoor fitness activities with friends and family this summer! This month we are catering to the Yogi and beer lover in us all. Members will enjoy a 45 minute yoga class at Holy City Brewery, followed by a beer tasting and brunch. Cost is $35.00 per person and includes class fee, beer tasting, and transportation. Please note that brunch is à la carte and not included in the event.

Participants are required to bring yoga mats. Limited yoga mats will be available from the Sports Pavilion. Shuttle departs The Sports Pavilion promptly at 10:00 a.m. and returns at approximately 2:00 p.m.

Family Cup (CSQ)Monday, June 293:00 p.m. Join a team consisting of a parent and child (or grandchild) in this Modified Alternate Shot 9-hole competition at 3:00 p.m. Flights are determined by the child’s age and grouped by the following four divisions: ages 11 and under, 12 to 14, 15 to 17, and 18 and over. Entry fee is $50.00 per team and includes greens fees, cart fees, snacks during and post round. Please note that caddie fees are not included in the entry fee. Entry will be available through ForeTees on Friday, May 1.

Junior Club Championship (CSQ)Tuesday, June 30 1:00 p.m. This 18 hole Medal (Stroke) Play Competition is open to current Golf and Sports Members ages 17 and under as of June 30, 2014. Participants ages 12 and over will play nine holes and ages 11 and under will play six holes. Entry fee is $30.00 per competitor and includes tournament fees, snacks on the course, prizes, and an awards cookout after play. Entry will be available through ForeTees on Friday, May 1.

Oyster Creek Paddle Race (CSQ Dock)Friday, July 310:00 a.m.Come experience the second annual Oyster Creek Paddle Race where parent/child teams compete in this paddling scavenger hunt. Teams will launch from the CSQ dock and race against the clock as they collect items from the banks of the Kiawah River.

Independence Day Extravaganza (CSQ) Friday, July 36:00 to 9:45 p.m. Celebrate America’s Independence at the Club’s annual Extravaganza on Friday, July 3 at 6:00 p.m. on the Cassique driving range! This premier family event of the year will feature live entertainment, carnival games, face painting, jumping castles, rock climbing wall, balloon sculpting, summer cookout favorites, concession sweets, an incredible fireworks show, longest drive contest, family photos, and more! Please bring photo ID for alcoholic beverages. Carpooling is recommended.

Attendance for this open-seating event will be limited. Cancellations after Monday, June 29 and no-shows will be charged 100% of the event price.

Cost for Members is $65.95++ for adults; $40.95++ for youths ages 6 to 20; $29.95++ for children ages 3 to 5. Cost for Guests is $79.95++ for adult, $49.95++ for youths ages 6 to 20; $29.95++ for children ages 3 to 5.

Red, White, and Blue Poolside Party (BC) Saturday, July 411:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Join friends, family, and your fellow Club Members at the Red, White, and Blue Poolside Party at The Beach Club. Listen to live music on the pool deck, various kids activities, participate in the kids’ or adult beverage coin toss, and enjoy a delectable

Lowcountry Grill Buffet (RC) Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. A traditional yet lavish Lowcountry Buffet is back again by popular demand at the River Course Clubhouse this July 4 weekend! This family affair will offer live entertainment by Green Levels, children’s activities, and a cuisine to please seafarers and landlubbers alike!

Each month GoKiawah will provide you with the opportunity to go off-island and participate in classes at area studios, gyms, and outdoor venues. This month we are traveling to see our old friend Mary Ann Stisher, former Sports Pavilion instructor and operating partner of Orangetheory Fitness in West Ashley. Orangetheory Fitness offers a 60-minute workout session split into intervals of

cardiovascular and strength training with heart rate monitors to track intensity and maximize metabolic burn. Increase energy, get visible results and burn more calories, even after leaving the studio. Cost is $35.00 per person and includes transportation. Shuttle departs The Sports Pavilion promptly at 8:30 a.m. and returns at approximately 11:15 a.m.

Fishing Tournament (Rhett’s Bluff)Friday, July 108:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Whether you are a fishing fanatic or a first-timer, the Club invites you, your family, and friends to the ultimate fishing experience in this action-filled fishing tournament! Anglers will meet at Rhett’s Bluff at 8:00 a.m. for tournament rules meeting and Captain introduction before heading out to travel the Kiawah River to compete in the following two categories: Redfish and Trout.

Entry cost is $185.00+ per person and includes half-day charter, equipment, bait, boxed lunch, and prizes. Entry cost for Members who wish to use their own charter is $25.00+ and includes boxed lunch.

Cancellations must be made no later than Monday, June 29. Cancellations after June 29 will be charged the full registration fee of $185.00+.

GoKiawah is heading downtown to Charleston Cooks where Club members will work hands-on with Charleston Cooks instructors to create an appetizer, soup or salad, main dish, one side and a dessert. Participants will then sit down and enjoy what they have prepared at the end of class. You are asked to wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes as you will be in the kitchen cooking hands-on. Participants will also receive a 10% discount on all store merchandise. Cost is $75.00+ and includes transportation. The shuttle departs the Cassique Clubhouse promptly at 5:45 p.m. and returns at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Excursion: Charleston Variety Show (CSQ) Friday, July 176:00 to 10:00 p.m.The Charleston Variety Show features a cast from all over the country and the greatest songs from Broadway to pop, Motown to country, and rock to gospel. This performance is presented at the Charleston Music Hall by Brad and Jennifer Moranz, who have directed and choreographed productions of “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Annie,” and “Guys and Dolls,” just to name a few! Other choreographic credits include feature films “Radioland Murders” and “The Road to Wellville” along with TV productions “The Margaret Mitchell Story” and “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.” Cost is $40.00 and includes show tickets and transportation. jUlyFoodie Fun – Kids Cooking Class (RC) Thursday, July 23 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Get out those aprons and get ready to have some foodie fun! Whether you’re an amateur looking to progress in the kitchen or an advanced junior chef wanting to take your cooking to the next level, this NEW creative cooking class is the perfect setting for fun and culinary inspiration!

Budding chefs ages 5 to 12 will join River Course culinary team member Bob Treymane to learn valuable cooking skills such as cutting, mixing, chopping, whisking, and more! Class culminates with everyone eating the delicious meal they prepared.

Excursion: RiverDogs Baseball Game (CSQ) Friday, July 246:00 p.m.Let’s go out to the ballgame! Join us as we attend our hometown Charleston Riverdogs (a New York Yankees minor league team) at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park (The Joe) downtown on the Ashley River. The Riverdogs will play Delmarva, a Baltimore Orioles affiliate, at 7:05 pm. The Club has blocked a 30-seat skybox with indoor and outdoor seating, a designated food and beverage server, as well as a fantastic fireworks show after the game. Sports and Adventure themed day camps are designed for children ages 5 to 12 years old. Within this age range, children will be divided into groups to ensure participation in activities with similar skill level and ability. Lunch will be provided in a group setting, allowing campers to share their experiences before heading to their afternoon activities. Children who do not wish to participate in a scheduled activity will be entertained by camp counselors with field games, arts and crafts, or some simple quiet time.
