Cartooniversity CampExplore the art of cartooning in depth with local editorial cartoonist/humorous illustrator Jeff Johnson. Areas of study include expressions, action/movement, character development, layout, backgrounds, perspective, and lettering. Daily projects include carbon transfer, flip-book animation, caricatures, comic strips and much more. Please bring a sack lunch each day; the lunch hour will include activities and games. With a convenient location in downtown Redmond, this program is a great option for working and nonworking parents and all school-aged children. Each week will offer age appropriate activities based on weekly themes, one field trip and one visit to Idylwood Beach Park for swimming. Dress for the weather. Bring two snacks and lunch each day. No camp Monday, July 5.

Boredom Busters camps are separated into two age groups, camps may be combined if enrollment is low. Option of FREE before care at 7:30am and FREE after care until 6:00pm. Plan to drop off and pick up your child at room 108.

If you are registering for 3 or more weeks, you have the option of making a $35/per week non-refundable deposit to hold your spot. If you decide to use the $35 deposit option, you must register by phone or in person between March 23 and June 1, 2010, and agree to sign up for automatic payments. The remainder of your day camp fee will be charged to your account 2 weeks prior to the start of camp.

Boredom Busters Refund Policy:If you made a $35 deposit and you withdraw from camps, your deposit is forfeited. If you paid in full and you wish to withdraw, you will be charged $10 per week processing fee.

Farmyard FolliesThis is a week filled with farmyard fun and barnyard buddies with animal visits, a tractor-pulled hayride, gardening, farm crafts, storytelling, games and more!

Simple ScienceExplore simple science concepts through arts and crafts, games, and stories. During this messy, hand-on week you will make your own goop, mix simple solutions, and find out if oil and water mix! Lab coats not required, but dress to get messy!

Dino CampA whole week of dinosaurs! Dinosaur crafts, games, stories, songs and fascinating facts are sure to thrill the young dinosaur lover. There will be plenty of discovering, excavating and exploring.

NOTE: Parents/guardians must accompany children to and from class. Programs require participants to be signed in and out. Please be prompt to pick-up children – they get anxious!

Space VoyagerCome explore the outer limits of your imagination to we take off to discover the plants, moons, and stars of our solar system and beyond. We’ll learn some clever facts and create some out of this world crafts, with lots of time for games, stories, and exploring the farm and forest.

Adventure MedlyEach day has a different theme, from pirates and superheroes to dinosaurs and music. We’ll visit the animals, explore the forest, and never have a dull moment in this fun filled week of diverse games, crafts and activities. Specific activities will be planned by day camp leaders.

Let’s Go CampingEnjoy this great week of outdoor activities, including setting up a tent, a “campfire” story time, s’mores and more. There will be hiking, exploring, and learning about our natural surroundings with lots of fun games.

Spy CampCreate a secret code, solve some tricky riddles, learn the secrets of catching the bad guys, and make a nifty spy kit to help you unearth any secrets hiding nearby.

Wet & WildJoin us for a wet and wacky week of water exploration. Play games, do art and crafts and learn about water and all its many uses.

aDventure CampAdventure Camp for youth who have graduated kindergarten through 2nd grades offers opportunities for summer fun and adventure at Farrel-McWhirter Park. Mini Sports CampMini Sports Camp teaches children the fundamentals of basketball, T-ball, soccer, and other active games. Children participate in drills, specialized games, and scrimmages, which will help to develop a general understanding and appreciation for these three sports. teenroCK ClimBinG CampEnjoy a week of outdoor rock climbing! Learn how to climb or build on the climbing skills you already have. Participants will also learn climbing commands, as well as the proper use and care of climbing equipment. Climbing routes will be determined based on camper abil-ities. Safety is emphasized. Participants will be picked up at the ORSCC, and transported by Mini Mountain staff to climbing destinations. Counselor in traininG proGramThe City of Redmond’s Counselor in Training (CIT) program provides an excel-lent opportunity to gain valuable leadership and job skills. Counselors In Training assist day camp staff with participants at Farrel-McWhirter Park (FM) camps for 3 to 8 year olds. To participate in the CIT program, you must be completing the 7th grade, you must register and complete a training session. Upon completion of training, each CIT will be scheduled to volunteer for 1 or 2 weeks, depending on availability, in the FM Day Camp programs. FM camp hours are 9am to 4pm Mon-day through Friday, and run the week of June 21 through the week of August 9. T-shirt included and provided on the first day of camp.
