This summer, QEP held their sales meeting at Faus in Calhoun, GA. The QEP sales team was given a tour of our
impressive 400,000 sq. ft. laminate factory. The focus was the direction of the commericial sales division. With the
growth of categories, our sales team will be divided into two distinct sales teams that will target full line flooring
distributors and accessory distributors. The four main areas covered during the meeting were Faus, Harris Wood,
Roberts Adhesives and Homelux. With all of the new changes, our sales team has done a great job evolving with the
brands and categories. This meeting helped illustrate where we are headed and how to accomplish further growth as a
team!

Aloha from Minnesota Menards held their Annual Flooring Training Seminar in Minnesota this year, spanning over a full week in November, to train
their sales staff on new QEP programs and products that they will be offering in the upcoming year. This year QEP was invited
to present our new private label Tile Tool Program with over 70 new products, including spacers, trowels, scrapers, hand tools
and bridge saws.
Menards encourages vendors to make it fun and have a cohesive theme throughout their space since the employees are
enduring long days at these sessions. This year the marketing team in Boca decided what better way to have fun in freezing
cold Minnesota than with a luau beach theme!
QEP Hawaiian shirts, palm trees, beach chairs and umbrellas were just a few of the fun decorations to highlight QEP’s “HOT.
NEW. TOOLS” beach luau theme.

Clinton Fire Department Firefighters in Clinton, MA got a nice
surprise this summer, with a donation
of tools from QEP! Chris Salinas, Plant
Manager of QEP Clinton, delivered the
donation of various Nupla tools
including axe’s and picks to show the
firefighters how much lighter the
handles are than the wood or metal
ones they are currently using. We are
hoping with this donation of tools in
the right hands that we can merge our
brand with our local firefighters to
become future customers! In addition
to the donation, Chris has asked the
firefighters for any feedback to send
to our engineers creating the new
tools! Great job Chris!

Mitre 10 Holds Global Conference Mitre 10, our largest retail account in New Zealand, held their annual conference in Los Angeles, CA June 2014.
This also coincided with their 40th birthday celebration. Over 350 suppliers, members, principals and the Mitre
10 support office attended. Leonard Gould, President, was on a panel for suppliers helping us all get an insight
into big box retailers, not only in the USA but as a supplier to these stores on a global basis. Many comments
have come in on the value of this panel and Leonard's attendance certainly helped enhance QEP New Zealand's
relationship with Mitre 10. Thank you Len for attending!
PRCI Tradeshows
In the Field
Over the last month PRCI has exhibited at 3
major customers tradeshows including LEROY
MERLIN, Mr BRICOLAGE and BOITE A OUTILS
(a new 2014 DIY customer). The tradeshows
took place in Lille, Tours and Chambery, all in
France, where we had a great opportunity to
introduce new products and innovations to
the stores staff.
All new products were well received by
customers; in addition, PRCI noted relevant
comments from customers to improve our
customer service! All in all, the shows went
great for PRCI!

Phoenix Floor Company’s Wall-to-Wall Success
An article from Star Community in Australia posted September 22, 2014: FLOORING company QEP Australia hasn’t just survived the 12 months since its Dandenong South factory burnt to the ground – it’s thrived. Managing director Bruce Maclaren was in the Dunlopillo Drive factory’s office when the flames took hold in the warehouse about 6pm on 19 September last year. The “orange wall of fire” could have turned deadly had it happened three hours earlier, before the company’s 50 staff clocked off. “The pace that I saw the fire take hold and literally level the place to the ground, I hate to think about what might have happened,” Mr Maclaren said.
But long gone are the charred remains and a state-of-
the-art factory has taken its place. “There are a few
things that were done differently but, effectively, it’s the
same space,” Mr Maclaren said. “It’s been built to the
latest building standards. This building wasn’t sprinkled
when we had the the fire because when it was built it wasn’t a requirement. We’ve now got the world’s biggest water tank out the front.”
Construction started in March and was finished by the end of July and the business has staggered its return from a temporary home in
Keysborough over 10 weeks. All but two pre-fire employees remain on board.
“We’ve just continued trading in the normal manner and business has actually continued to grow and develop, which is good,” Mr Maclaren
said. “A significant chunk of our business is in Bunnings, so we’ve had a whole number of new initiatives with them – which we were
working on anyway – come to fruition since the fire. Apart from four or five months’ worth of serious disruption post the fire – where all
the energy was geared around getting the business back on its feet – we really returned to the normal practice of the business, which is how
to we grow, how do we sell more, how do we do more?”
The company held a function last Friday to mark the milestone. “Really, it’s just to say ‘it was what it was, but its part of the past’,” Mr
Maclaren said. Site owner Nick Cojo from Cojo Investments said he was pleased to see the business move back in. “Having a tenant like
QEP makes life a lot easier,” he said. “I do love my properties. I treat my properties like I treat my children – as a part of the family.”
National operations manager Sam Laverty was in the boardroom with Mr. Maclaren on the night of the fire when a cleaner approached
them. “They only work Thursday nights, and came up and said ‘the guys out the back said there’s a fire and I’ve got to leave the building’,”
he said. “The way she said it was like it was annoying that she had to leave the building, rather than ‘fire fire fire!’. We walked out and into
the racking to see out the back. There was no noise. It was all silent. There was black smoke billowing over the racking, into the roof.” They
called the fire brigade and evacuated. “It seems like five years ago now,” Mr Laverty said.
QEP president Len Gould visited from the US in November. Mr Gould’s father Lewis started the company in his garage in 1979 and remains
the CEO today, overseeing more than 900 staff in 33 locations around the world.
“The phoenix has already risen out of the ashes and I see nothing but a great future ahead,” he said.

NEW ACQUISITION! QEP has purchased the assets of one of our accessory distributor competitors in Sydney NSW, Flooring Trade Supplies (FTS).
Effectively this will give us an additional AFS trade centre in inner city Sydney to complement our network and at the same
time, we have employed the former principal of the business, Craig Hildebrand, as General Manager AFS in NSW.
Craig will now take responsibility for managing all AFS activities in the State supported by Danny Colbertaldo and the sales
team, while Ugo Tettamanti will hold the same position & responsibility (General Manager) for AFS in Victoria.
FTS has also been the manufacturer and distributor of the Holdfast range of adhesives, which from now on will be
manufactured under license by our regular adhesive supplier RLA Polymers and which will be sold exclusively through the AFS
network, providing a new sales opportunity to our organization.
This acquisition will strengthen our AFS operations in general & create a dominant market player in the NSW accessory
business. It also underlines the ongoing commitment that QEP has for our accessory distribution division, taking our AFS trade
centres to 16 nationally.
If you have any questions please contact Bruce Maclaren, Managing Director QEP Australia.
QEP Australia has expanded their range of products to Bunnings to include building products as
well. Brutus D-Fence and Brutus Garden Fence are the latest products launched! With
competitive pricing and great POS, we know that these two products will be rushing out the
doors. Great work to the retail department in Australia and our QEP team in China!

Christmas in July: Women on Missions
QEP donated 500 backpacks to the
Meadowdale Baptist Church for their Women
on Missions Christmas in July project. Their
goal was to supply 200 needy children in
Gordon County, Georgia (Redbud, Ashworth,
Belmont and Calhoun schools) with backpacks
and school supplies for the upcoming
2014/2015 school year. QEP supplied enough
for the next 2 school years!
It’s a Home Run at QEP!
The Daniel Boone Little League Senior Division softball team won the Tennessee
State Championship in July in Newport, Tennessee. This earned the team a
berth in the Southeast Regional tournament in Fort Myers, Florida where they
faced other State Championship teams from Florida, Virginia and West Virginia.
The team did not advance from pool play but played very well against excellent
teams, having many stellar defensive plays. For five of the girls, this was the
fifth State Championship. Rhetta Persinger, daughter of Danny Persinger from
our QEP Johnson City, TN location is one of the five players with five
championships. She’s the first baseman on the team and bats in the clean up
position. Danny also served as one of the coaches.

Mosaics in B&Q
The ALL NEW Homelux Mosaic dump bin has been launched into 150
B&Q stores! B&Q is a home improvement retailer, similar to The
Home Depot or Lowes in the United States, with over 350 stores. We
have worked with B&Q for the last 20 years and currently have a 9
foot bay of Homelux products and a 9 foot bay of Vitrex products in
their stores.
This dump bin contains two new promotional mosaic SKU’s: Graphite
Storm and Peppermint, as well as the self-adhesive mosaic backer.
The mosaic backer is already a current item in B&Q stores, but this
promotion will increase up-sells with improved visibility.
Plasplugs Blue Sky Bay
We recently presented a ‘blue sky’ bay to B&Q, this bay will improve the shopping journey, making the POP message and
communications as clear as possible to the end user, and walking the end user through 3 steps to trade up from using a manual
cutter to an electric cutter. Key things to consider when selecting your tile cutter:
1. How thick is your tile?
2. What material is your tile made from?
3. What types of cuts will you be making?
It is also important to show the live display to the end user,
so they can physically see the trade up. This was very well
received by the buying team, and we will push to get this
into B&Q Spring 2015!

Today installers are challenged more than ever to meet flooring manufacturers and industry standards. The new norm of
fast track construction results in reduced concrete slab drying time prior to flooring installation, making moisture related
problems more prevalent than they used to be. When presented with moisture issues, installers need to integrate a multi-
step moisture mitigation system with new or green concrete, adding in additional steps, time and costs to their overall
installation project.
To that end, we proudly announce Roberts® Moisture Control Adhesives – key, superior-grade adhesives that have been
enhanced to withstand up to 10lbs moisture vapor emission rates (MVER) and up to 90% relative humidity (RH). This
improvement simplifies the moisture mitigation process for the flooring installer to ONE SIMPLE STEP, saving them time
and money. For these adhesives, we will be offering a 15-year moisture warranty, while maintaining current pricing for
each product. This new “Moisture Control” product offering further aligns our adhesives with current competitive offerings,
while providing us with an opportunity to generate more brand recognition for Roberts® adhesives.

Thanks for the warm welcome I have received these first few days at QEP.
The internal company communications around my joining QEP did a good
job sharing the highlights of my background. Therefore, I thought I would
take a moment to share some of the parallels that I observed between QEP
and Scotts that helped me realize this was a good fit for me and the
company.
Both companies have a rich history and strong reputation within
their respective industries
QEP and Scotts are both publicly traded while managed by the
founding families
Home Depot is the largest customer for QEP and Scotts
Many of the customer/channels and challenges are similar
Both companies revenues peaked around 2010
The last point is worth discussing further. Many companies that benefited
from the Home Center growth of the last few decades, have struggled
since Home Depot and Lowe’s quit opening stores. This is true for Scotts
and I believe it is true for QEP. The challenge I have been given from Lewis
and Leonard is the help find ways to get this company growing again. I
believe I have a proven track record delivering profitable sales growth that
will ensure we are successful in doing so.
I look forward to getting to know the QEP associates, our customers and
this new category.
Best wishes for the Holidays and 2015!
